Where is the best price to purchase the White Pass Train ride ticket? On theship or can you do it directly?

Hi there

Just do a google search of "white pass train"...you will find the web site for White Pass/Yukon trains. Look up their excursions prices and compare them with the prices for the Princess tours and you can determine what suits you best.

have a great cruise

p.s. we rented a car...it was a beautiful drive (we did have great weather)

Booking direct only saves about $15. If you book the Princess excursion, you get on the train right at the pier. If you book independently, you have to walk into town to the station to get on the train. EM

We have booked both ways.

Depending where your ship docks, depends on how long a walk it is to the train station to buy tickets there.

One time we had no choice but to buy the tickets via HAL as we were docked at Haines and the only way to get to Skagway was through ferry arranged by HAL. And where the ferry docked we still had a hike to the train.

So you do need to do your homework and decide what will work for you.

Not necessarily true. We booked excursion directly from Whitepass and a van was sent to pick us up from parking area next to where ship was docked.

I can only speak to our experience, but we bought our tickets directly from the White Pass web site and were very happy that we did. No one in our party had any mobility issues and so making the short walk to the station was not a problem. Also, the ones who booked through the ship were all directed into the same train car, hence they were packed in like sardines. Since we bought independently we could go to any car we wished and ended up having just our party of six and maybe 7-8 other people with us. Great excursion! Definitely a highlight of our cruise!

And sometimes many of us read a post and say... the what? I had no idea what they were talking about because they failed to provide any context. I'm still not sure what it is but can only guess since i saw someone mention Yukon.
