Things within walking distance of port

I love to wander around downtown. I spend a day there every visit. There is a new trolley that leaves right from the cruise port and travels down Main St., which is the road right behind the one you will see when you pull into port. There are also museums, and a perimeter park that runs along the sea area. There will be plenty of shops and good restaurants, along with road side vendors. Also, there are two taxi drivers that have car seats, Bully and Hubert, if you decide you want to go to the beach.

bullytaxi79@hotmail.com You will need to contact him in advance and arrange for Bully or Hubert to pick you up. They can drop you off at the beach and arrange a time to pick you up. Palm Beach has the calmest water. Bully also does island tours, and might not be available, but maybe he will have other suggestions for you if he and Hubert are both busy. If they are, you could also take the bus to Palm Beach. That is very easy and safe to do. There are a lot of threads posted here about getting to the beaches.

If you decide to contact Bully, just make sure that you let him know that you need a car seat.

We've walked to a nice little mostly deserted beach twice--turn to the right as you get off the ship (facing shore) and walk through the shopping areas, a mall like area and over a small bridge and through or by a resort.

It was an easy walk for us (68); I swam there it was just a strip of sand with some trees. The water was calm and clean. I only mention it as an option if you truly don't want to use a car but just want to walk, as there are no facilities.

No the trolley runs a short route though downtown Oranjestad. Baby Beach is about 12 miles from Oranjestad.

To get to Baby Beach from Oranjestad you can take the public bus from Oranjestad to San Nicolas and then take Arubus' shuttle van to Baby Beach from the San Nicolas bus station.

Just got back from a land trip to Aruba and stayed at the Renn with the private island. Yes, it was beautiful.

As for things to do within walking distance... if you head towards the Renn Market there is lots of little stores and great places to eat.

Cuba Cookin is a nay... Dutch Pancakes is very yummy.

You can walk across the street and take a bus to the beach for $2.30 each way... next to the bus station is the train station that goes down main st

The best smoothie for $4.00 is a little shack by the bus/train station..

The low rise and high rise area's are mainly close till late afternoon;

as the downtown area is open
