OBC...how did you get yours?

We checked a cruise on RCI's Independence with several TAs, and one of them was offering £150 OBC per cabin- so that was where we booked.

Also 100 shares from Carnival= OBC for Cunard, P&O etc.

I booked while on board and I got 100$ nothing fancy

Booking on board will always get you something (perhaps on the current as well as the future booked cruise). But, if you do not have a trusted TA with whom you always work, don't assign the onboard booking to anyone until you get home and shop your booking around within the allowable transfer period.

Ours gives us the OBC without us asking. It is part of the quote. Ie, $1000 per person cruise fare and $100 OBC per person.

Note a TA is not obligated to give any OBC.

For our Princess cruise we have three sources for OBC

Princess was offering a special promo if OBC if you booked by a certain date

Our TA is giving us OBC

We are carnival shareholders.

We usually get a majority of ours from booking with a TA. This is one of the only reasons we have booked with TA's in the past (plus sometimes their rates are cheaper because they have a section booked). Other than that, we also get a latitudes OBC depending on the room selected (with NCL) and I have heard others say that during a price drop, they are sometimes offered an OBC to make up for it. :)
