All beaches in Aruba are public. All below are accessible by public bus, with Boca Catalina, Catalina Cove and Arashi beach being the furthest from the port. Plan on a good hour for the latter. It will be less than that, it depends upon whether or not the bus has to stop at every stop.

Water at Eagle Beach and Palm Beach is rarely crystal clear with the exception of just after sunrise. Boat traffic from watersports operators churns up the sand reducing visibility. You will rarely find crystal clear water anywhere in Aruba as you would find in the Bahamas. For the best snorkeling head to Boca Catalina, Catalina Cove, Malmok or Arashi Beach. See below for additional snorkeling info.

The closest location to the cruise terminal, with the bonus, if you have small children, of an adjacent playground is Reflextions Beach Bar & Restaurant at Surfside Beach.

As of last week taxi fares were posted as $12 each way to Eagle and Palm Beach. We walked to the bus station where the bus fare on Bus #10 was listed as $2.30 per person each way. The bus was not going to be back for about twenty minutes but the bus company had six passenger vehicles that they were running to the Eagle and Palm Beach. The fare was only $2.00 per person in these vans as they were loading them with six people each. We went to Eagle Beach and caught the #10 Bus back for $2.30

what did you think of Eagle beach? was the water warm? I'm not to worried about chairs but we need at least 1 umbrella did you see them there to rent? Was the taxi 12$ for 4 or per person? Also did u thing the bus was bumpy or hot?

P.S if you ever go to Bermuda stay away from the buses no matter how cheap they are;)

I'm confused about the bus fare. I thought it was $2.30 a person round trip. How do you get a round trip ticket? Do you pay when you get on or off the bus?

The bus doesn't sell round trip tickets to tourists any more. The fare is now $2.30 each way. You pay when you get on. The buses are very nice and air conditioned.

We were in front of Amsterdam Manor and there were no umbrellas or palapas available for shade unless you were a guest staying at the resort. The beach was wonderful, easy access to food and drink at the beach bar. Water temperature was warm but it did feel maybe a couple of degrees cooler this year than in the past. We walked the beach to MVC and as Arubalisa has noted there were palapas available there for shade. Taxi was $12 total, $2 per person for the six of us who were riding. Bus ride was smooth.

What does MVC stand for and will the taxi drop us off in front of it? My husband needs shade due to some of his medication.

Thanks for your help:D

Official name of resort is MVC Eagle Beach Aruba. All signage on resort says MVC.

All of the taxi drivers know where it is and will drop you off there. The resort is more like an old two story motel. The restaurant there is good. The beach is across the street.

Please come back and post exactly how one rents chairs and umbrellas from a beach.

If you read above your post, Arubalisa wrote exactly how to rent chairs and umbrellas on each beach. What she writes is true - we did exactly what she said on Palm Beach, no problems.

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

One can't rent an umbrella or a chair from a BEACH. They have no pockets to hold the money.

I have a friend on the island at this time. She has told me that there is a vendor on Palm Beach at the "new" Riu (old Westin) which is presently closed for construction. The vendor is renting chaises and using the old shade palapas that are still on the beach.

Though only temporary for the year that the resort is scheduled to be closed, it will be less crowded.

Many of the cabbies have contacts on the beaches who supply chairs & umbrellas should you take a cab.Just ask them about rentals and see if they do..I'm sure they get a cut of the business and it may not be at the beach you requested but its just something to note.
