Casino Program Changes

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Received an email tonight telling me that they are changing the program. Also telling me that I have $325 to use by March 2015.

Not thrilled with this change. I have no Royal cruises planned, but had counted on that money sitting there.

Was there ever an expiration of the rebate? March 15th would be less than a year after the cruise.

Does anyone know what the new changes are?

Also received the email.

Will be making sure to use up Casino OBC in November, any rebates accrued on that cruise will use for payment on next cruise, before it expires March 2015.

Or use as OBC for March Cruise.

Will be interesting to see what the changes/ benefits are going to be.

If I hear anything will post, appreciated if anyone else gets more info to also post.

Happy Days!

Thanks!

I have a dummy booking for a ncc (had booked cruise and then cancelled so I had to transfer the ncc to a placeholder cruise). I wonder if I can just do a placeholder for the casino credit too?

I'm not really interested in a cruise between now and March.

If I had known about these changes I would have cashed out onboard (poor exchange, but better than nothing).

If you are part of the program you get a rebate toward your next cruise based on what you gamble. I've found the rebate is about 10% of your losses (limited # of cruises to base that on, but it's been pretty accurate on the last three cruises).

The rebate is based on your total betting not winning or Losing,One interesting thing that I learned is that your free drinks in the casino are tabulated and deducted from rebate amounts,

Hmmm. This is interesting. We just returned from a late August cruise and have not received our rebate letters yet. I wonder how we will be affected. I have not gotten an email from Royal as yet either.

Also, we had the unlimited drink package on this cruise so we did not use any casino drink vouchers so I hope they don't take any of that out! We did lose plenty this time around so I hope the changes don't impact this rebate!

I will be following along for any new info.

That is what they tell you. But I had one cruise where I lost 4K and I know I bet a ton more (was up and down and was in casino for 7 days). Got a $425 rebate.

Next cruise was $1300 that was lost in two days with no jackpot (just horrid losing). My rebate? $130.

This last cruise we played about 6 days and lost 3K. Our rebate was $325.

I'm not sure it's based on points. Cruise 1 had more than 4x the points of cruise 2.

Idk....it always seems to be 10% of losses for me, so I use that as my ballpark.

As for drinks: our last cruise did not have our name on them. So they wouldn't be able to track them.

Anyhow, I think they will adopt a program where you have to re qualify every year. Something similar to ncl's program.

My gambling onboard will dramatically decrease if that is the case.

Mostly I am just angry about these changes coming out of nowhere and losing this rebate because I am not cruising within 6 months of my previous cruise.

Is the rebate based on table or slot games. Never heard of this and have never received notice. Have applied some points for t or golf shirts. Maybe we are not heavy gamblers on cruises as we save our gambling money's for Caesar's casinos and establish a D level where we get many perks.

I hope you You win soon and get a rebate , Ex. Host gives you 4 coupons records that 6 nts 24 drinks 5$ ,120$ no name needed host knows who host gave them to.

I know this because I gamble with a big drinker,Our handle is about the same in course of week, his is probable bigger. My rebate is always more (win lose or draw )

I just got off the phone with club royale and was told that the rebate program is going away and being replaced with something "better". The person I spoke to had no details though and said there won't be any until early 2015.

I asked if the rebate we would earn on our upcoming Nov 1 cruise would count towards the new program or old and was told that we would earn a rebate on it based on the current program, but it would have to be used by March 15th. I definitely have no plans to cruise again by then so am basically going to have to forfeit the amount. It would be a little more fair if they would let us take it off a future cruise to be booked by March 15th. I usually get back anywhere between $600-$1,000 so it's a nice chunk of money that I have them take right off my cruise bill.

I'm not too happy about this as the awards are already pretty meager compared to land and even other cruise line casinos as it is, without them taking things away. Hoping with the new rules they will at least give us double odds on the crap table. I will definitely be gambling a little less on this trip though.

It counts towards all play, but you have to be invited into the program. To get anything worthwhile you really have to gamble pretty heavily.

The one great perk, that is no longer a secret!!!

Much more than 20% off of booking price, if done through Casino, obviously only applies to VIP members.

Have done this for last few years and saved a bunch.. More gambling money:D

As for drinks being deducted from your rebates, minimal IMO and we have a drink in hand every minute we are in the casino.

The rebate rate was explained to me and it is not that straight forward, win or lose you will be comped.

It is calculated more on rack rate and time played.

If you are betting $50 per hand at Blacjack, $25 a spin at roulette and $3 minimum per spin on Slots, then your % on rebate will be higher.

Would agree in the range of 10%-20%

If you are playing poker all night, casino is making minimal money, so you would not be rated or invited to be VIP.

They get buy in and Antes and that's it!

Be Lucky!

And let's hope the perks get even better and do not expire each year:cool:

Agreed, t-shirts, key chains and all are warranted from slot play and points accrued from using Seapass card in slot when playing.

2000pts =$40.00 can be taken in cash or RC souvenirs.

The above are not going to get anyone any form of next cruise rebate.

Let's say to be invited to Casino Royale VIP program you want to be dropping a minimum of 5K a cruise, and I am being very conservative with that figure.

Here are a few goodies, we always get at end to clear points off of our cards.

Poker makes the casino minimal money, Buy In and Ante. This would not qualify for invitation.

Now if he mixed it up with some slots and table games and dropped a few thousand he may get invited:D

Be lucky!

Happy Days!

I have a feeling they are going to copy ncl's program.

That would be great as NCL has the best and most generous casino program at sea. I am constantly being offered free cruises from them and have never even sailed with them before. I think they are linked somehow to my local casino and get player info from them. Would love to try one of the haven suites, but they have no 5 port Caribbean itinerary as of right now.

Just talked with casino royale rep and said you clearly have to sali by March 15, no4 just book. I was not thrilledbeing I am doing b2b in Nov. Anyway her comment was "it will be totally revamped to be bigger and better and more like land based programs"....whatever that means. Nothing to be known until next year. Guess I will do all my casino play week one so I can get cash rebate while cruising week 2, then play minimally week 2 until new program comes out.
