  1. That only works if you're docked at Heritage Wharf. If you're at King's Wharf, it's down the street a bit!!
  2. The ferry is used to shuttle NCL passengers to St.George and back. There is no charge. As I recall, it makes three round trips. Then the last (fourth) trip of the day it runs empty from the Dockyard and picks up anyone still in St. Georges, returning to the ship. If there happens to be two NCL ships docked at the same time, access to the ferry will be for one day only. For instance, was on the Pearl in April and docked from Sunday-Tuesday. The Gem docked on Tuesday. We had use of the ferry on Monday, and the Gem folks had it on Tuesday. (It didn't run on Sunday.)
  3. There appears to be a new party/floating bar type boat taking over Calico Jack's spot. Water slide off the boat and lots of huge inflatables next to the boat. Just google the Bermuda Web Cam and you'll be able to see it.
  4. On my e-docs for 4/8 sailing they were still calling them mini-suites. They say: Stateroom: Mini-Suite MA Guess the e-doc folks haven't caught up yet with the promotional material folks!!
  5. Google Bermuda Web Cam ( it will knock you off for some reason after about 30 seconds. Then just go back on and you'll be all set). You'll be able to see the trolley traveling from the Dockyard to Heritage and King's Wharves and back again. Also, whatever ships are in port will be in view.
  6. That is the test we used in April. No problems for the four of us. And as of last week or the week before, you no longer have to send negative test results ( or any results to Bermuda) You simply need to apply for the Bermuda Travel Authorization, pay the $40.00, and upload your proof of vaccination. You still need the negative PCR or antigen covid test taken no more than two days before embarkation to board the ship.
  7. There is a site called Cruisedeckplans.com. You can put three decks of any ship side by side, and tell exactly what is above and below the middle deck. As stated above, the best cabins would be 11504, under the steam rooms;11006 under the hair salon;11012 under the library, and 11018 under the cardroom/photo studio. Cabins to avoid would be 11512 and 11518, which are under the fitness center. The rest are under the pool area. Hit or miss. Port or starboard? Have been to Bermuda 8 times on NCL, and we have been docked half the time on one side, and half the time on the other. There is no rhyme or reason.
  8. You're not cheap. You can spend a lot more per spin on penny slots than you would on, let's say, 50 cent or dollar machines.
  9. We did an Alaskan cruise, Seward to Vancouver, with a 4 day land tour before the cruise. Our luggage stayed with us as we were bused to three different hotels/locations between Anchorage and Seward. In our case, if they did the "one suitcase to the ship" thing , they would have had to load all the secondary suitcases on a truck and drive them down to Seward. And of course , the ship isn't there till the day of embarkation. So they would have to store the suitcases at some kind of secure facility till the ship arrived. Anyway, that's my take on your question, based on personal history. Your situation may be totally different, and none of this would apply. Good Luck!!
  10. I know what it takes for my wife and I to get comped a balcony or mini-suite. But you made the statement that "if you play higher denomination slots/video poker, make sure to use your room key or player's card and your next cruise will be free". I'm just trying to pick your brain to see if you might know something the rest of us don't.
  11. So how much do I theoretically have to lose before I'm comped a free cruise?
  12. So if I put a $100 in a $5 dollar machine and make sure my player's card/ room key is inserted, they'll (NCL) give me a free cruise? As the song from Grease says- tell me more, tell me more!!
  13. On the smaller ships (jewel class and below) you'll usually find 4- 8 $5,10,and 25 dollar machines, along with one or two $100 dollar slots, generally tucked away in the back of the casino. On Breakaway class and above, there is a greater variety ( or at least there was, last time I was on the Breakaway, 6 years ago.) Have personally had 5 or 6 W2Gs over the years, ranging from $1200-$2000. Biggest win I ever saw was $15,000.00 on a Quick Hit machine. So yes, people do win! Just have to be in the right place at the right time, as the saying goes. As an aside to the above, was on the Pearl 4/8-15. The slots were the tightest I have ever encountered anywhere. Gave up playing by the 5th day. Happy Sailing!!
  14. Seems like suites and above have wicker, and mini-suites and below have plastic.
  15. Was on the Dawn October 30, 2013. Boston -Bermuda and return to Boston. Being a cruise out of Beantown, primarily a "local" crowd. Boston and the Cardinals are in the World Series. Boston is up, 3-2, in a best of 7 series. The good folks on the Dawn arranged to have the game shown on the big movie screen in the Atrium. The place was packed. My two adult sons and I had front row seats in what was then the Blue Lagoon ( now O'sheehan's). The chicken wings and fries flowed for hours!! There must have been a thousand people crammed in the Atrium and surrounding area watching the game. When the Red Sox won, the place exploded in jubilation. The noise was deafening!! I'm sure the creatures of the sea were wondering what those crazy humans were up to! Was a cruise to remember!!
  16. I am more than certain that your then 18 year old adult son will find SOMETHING to do on a ship like the Encore.
  17. Can't miss items, IMHO, subjective , of course: Cagneys- 16 oz. Ribeye or 20 0z.Porterhouse LaCucina Seafood Fettucine or Chicken Parm Moderno Salad Bar ( meats, not so much) O'Sheehan's Chicken Wings LeBistro Nothing memorable, used to be our favorite, not anymore. MDRs Chocolate Lava Cake with vanilla ice cream Buffet Soft serve ice cream. Wish i could take one of those machines home with me!!
  18. Just google " NCL Latitudes Tier Benefits". You'll get a whole list of the amenities available for each tier.
  19. The Dawn. Not too big and not too small. Was the first NCL ship we cruised on, and sailed on her 7 times. Wish NCL would bring her back to Beantown.
  20. Agree 100%. My phone goes in the safe for the week. That is why we vacation. To NOT have to deal with life's little problems for a short while.
  21. You can't register on the Bermuda Travel Authorization site until they have listed your ship and arrival/departure time to the island on their website. Generally 3-4 weeks beforehand. Also, you only need to upload your proof of vaccination. You no longer have to provide your negative covid test results. Although you still have to provide negative covid test results to board the ship.
  22. I think that's a wonderful idea. With the problems they have had in Beantown this year later would be better, just to be on the safe side. No sense tempting the fates!!
  23. Tell us how you really feel!! (JK)
  24. If you booked through a TA and paid for the cruise through a TA, shouldn't said TA be refunding your funds, and not NCL? Just wondering.
  25. You could do it all by yourself. You do each person's e-docs separately. If you do yours first, when you get to section 7 you have to watch the muster drill video and verify that you did so. When you get to section 7 of your wife's e-docs, you'll have to watch it again and sign off that it was she who watched it. She'll have plenty of time to watch it in the weeks before your cruise. That is because NCL is going to send you e-mails with a link to the video, asking you to watch it again. And again And again!!! We got six of these e-mails!! Good Luck!!
