  1. Ddi yo uhave any trouble getting the reservations you wanted with the UDP? we've had it the last two cruises and loved it, but I've seen reviews where the reservations are gong by the time you get on board. Dan
  2. In what ways geared toward families compared to harmony?
  3. So I'm not sure if its been said, but I think you could have gotten on because of the facial recognition that they have in Miami. My wife took my MIL on a cruise last june and my MIL didn't pack her passport, she didn't think she needed it, she wasn't leaving the country, just getting on a ship. I had put her passport in and done all the pre planning for her. So I get a desperate call late the night before, run to her house, find her BC and make copies of that and her passport and send to her. Well, they were never checked, Miami I guess uses facial recognition and they waved her thru. Not sure if she was lucky or it was the facial recognition that saved her.
  4. we had the UDP and enjoyed all of the specialty rest. Ate breakfast in the solarium bistro most mornings, found the Windjammer to be a little to hectic every morning. Cafe 270 is great for sandwiches and salads. Ship is really nice. Pool area tends to be a little loud on the main deck but it was better up a level. Shows were pretty good, many love the effectors, but we found it to be way too cheesy(felt like a kids show). Layout is interesting. We loved 270 in the back of the ship when the orchestra would play or the band. The Music Hall was another favorite of ours. Elevators were a pain, several were out of order(ship was less than months old when we sailed, but I heard parts were the problem). Ship is really nice and the storage options they added to our balcony cabin were really nice.
  5. Last cruise on odyssey got a chair right by the pool because an attendant had just removed towels. Guy cam by about an hour later, looked perturbed but nicely asked where his stuff might be. We told him probably at the towel desk. After that didnt' see attendants moving stuf, but we moved to the upper level because the music was so loud. Dan
  6. there is a bar menu where you can order ala carte food, but I don't know if the cinammon rolls are on it. I tried to find a copy and was not successful Dan
  7. I was able to change a reservation on the app, but I think it was day 2. I thought the app might be too slow, but it probably would have been faster if I had just done it that way. Dan
  8. You are supposed to be able to do this but I've heard that the ability to actually do this is mixed. We had it on Odyssey last time and didn't try but probably could have.(it's a lot of food, so I wasn't up for it most nights).
  9. My wife and I used it on odyssey of the seas, Its more like a message board than a chat app. Nothing notifies you of a new message, you have to actively check the app to see if you have a new message. It was barely better than nothing, I would not buy it again. Dan
  10. Used the chat feature on the app for our last odyssey cruise. we bought it mostly to keep in touch since she'll sleep in a bit more than me and I usually go and sit somewhere while she gets ready i nthe evening. Not a big deal to not have the chat feature but it was a brand new ship and a class we had never been on. Waste of money. Since it doesn't niotify you of a new message, you have to be constantly checking the app. We missed connections several times and generally found it poor to wrk with. Eventually found myself sitting with the app open on the table next to me and refreshing every few minutes to make sure I didn't miss a message.
  11. when we were on a full Odyssey cruise in March with the UDP, we went straight to chops after boarding (11:45am) to make all of our reservations(all between 6/6:30) for a 6 night cruise. No problem getting what we wanted. When we wanted to change our 5th night to Chops from Giovannis, the best we could get was 8:15. Dan
  12. we went on this ship in March. It's a great ship.I don't remember a juice bar. We had the UDP, we booked our reservations right after boarding around 11:45 am. Went to the chops entrance. we did the northstart, no big deal to book and when I looked a couple of days in, there were times for both during free days(in port). We loved the music hall on this cruise, the band was great, the kareoke singers were fun, bartenders were really good. Didn't do the bumper cars, but they looked like fun. the seaplex was in use all the time with a lot of activiry. We enjoyed wonderland and chops the most. We liked Giovannis, but it didn't feel as special as Chops(we have great Italian in St Louis as well). UDP works at palymakers, the pub, and giovanni's wine bar. Dan
