  1. Had some friends on board this summer and they said the ship looked tired. Stains on carpeting, some decking coming up near pool (don’t remember which pool he said) and skuff marks on walls. Service varied from great to meh. I am looking forward to your take on it.
  2. So, unless I am misunderstanding, the Geisen Marlborough SV, which I can get for $9.99 a bottle would be $47.90 per bottle and I have to buy 7 to get that price?
  3. Do not buy Euros at a bank in the US as the exchange rate is awful. If your ATM card is from a bank that waives foreign ATM fees (two of mine do) your best bet is a bank ATM in Europe. These bank ATMS use the forex which is the official bank rate without surcharges added. DO NOT USE a Travelex ATM at the airport. These are not part of a bank but part of the exchange company Travelex which charges surcharges and fee which are “hidden” in the exchange rate. I have traveled to Europe for business and pleasure prior to covid about 6 or 7 times a year and never got euros before leaving the US. There are also ATM location websites so you can see where in the airports or towns they are located. Check the back of your ATM card to see which networks they participate in such as Pulse, Cirrus, etc. If you purchase something in Europe NEVER have the purchase made in USD (many terminals will give you that option) Always chose the local currency to have the charge made in. This way you avoid the Dynamic Currency conversion. Also, the ATMs in casinos on ships usually charge a 3% fee for the pleasure of taking money out.
  4. It has been ages since I was on Oceania. When I was last on the verandah cabins had DVD players in them and a great DVD library to choose from at the front desk. Is that still the case? Thanks
  5. And even though one does not have to travel with a group all hotels and internal air have to be booked through an appointed travel agency in Japan. Not possible if you use hotel points and airline points to book through a travel agency. I received the update from my friend in Japan
  6. My last Seabourn cruise was Dec.2021 and I received an electronic copy
  7. Patty, lol, that is exactly why I was asking. Crystal had me busy all day if I wanted to be.
  8. I am considering an ocean crossing on SS in the next year or so. I am just concerned that there will not be enough to do on sea days. Can someone with ocean crossings (Atlantic or Pacific) if there were enough lectures, classes, lessons etc to keep you busy during the multiple days at sea. Any past daily programs would be much appreciated.
  9. Wow, a 2.5 hour drive on French and German motorways. How unscenic. Such an awful situation for the residents and companies in Germany who depend on the river for so many things. An inconvenience for river cruisers but a disaster for residents. @notamermaidThanks as always for your very informative posts.
  10. Does anybody know if the Miracle was able to call in Skagway today? I know the landslides closed some of the docking piers and some calls were cancelled.
  11. @highplanesdriftersGreat pics. Thanks so much. Quick question. Can you ask shorex dept (if you get a chance) if you can use onboard credit for the sub? I know there are no subs in Norway but I am looking at a S. America voyage and would like to use my OBC. My TA emailed, twice, to Seabourn and has not heard back.
  12. I would go with Oceania anytime over HAL. Having sailed both many times there is no comparison in cuisine and service. HAL ships are way too big for me. The dining venues that are alternatives are good but cost extra. Nothing compares to the included alternates on Oceania.
  13. LOL. That is the question and while some have posted on the other Japan posts here their TAs were told we would know the end of last week mine was told by res they have no idea what will happen.
  14. My TA has asked three times and all three times she was told “We don’t know what is going to happen with the ships”. I presume they will have to put them someplace before they head to Australia/NZ. My guess is Hawaii RT from Vancouver, Polynesia, Mexican Riviera and/or combination of them. Who knows.
  15. Yes, I made sure to make sure her commission was protected and she said that it was. She worked so hard.
  16. I am scrambling to find a replacement for the time period I am locked into. The prices for the cruises next year are much more expensive then this year and the 15% is not making a difference. I feel bad for my wonderful TA. She has been spending a lot of time on hold and answers she receives are conflicting. She was told now up to 60 days for refunds.
  17. That was nice of you to post this especially after the snark from poster requesting it.
  18. Because they can’t decide what they want to move to before August 30? Does not make sense to me either.
  19. Yes, I posted this on a another thread. All Asia/SE asia have been cancelled in Sept, Oct, Nov and I believe early Dec. Though, as of a little while ago all are still on the website.
  20. Just to clarify you do not have to book by August (which be in effect, July 31) you have until August 30 to make the decision. If you cannot make a decision by then you can get a FCC for 100% of what you paid or 100% refund to your form of payment.
  21. Which means that the whole Asia season is gone. No idea where they are putting the ships.
  22. 15% discount if you move to another booking before Aug. 30. If you cannot commit to that you will receive a FCC for 100% of what you paid, In small print is the fact you can get all your money back, of course,
  23. LOL. I was reading what my TA sent me and you beat me by 2 minutes Now, I can plan something else.
