  1. You can pay to upgrade too. We booked economy award tickets to and from our last cruise and paid United to upgrade to PE.
  2. I haven’t noticed a noisy crowd. But my last cruise was Alaska. Not the right kind of weather. I will say that IME Princess shows a lot or concert films. No plot and you already know the songs.
  3. Aren’t some of those mocktails more expensive than a domestic beer?
  4. In Alabama, where I see it regularly, the kids may be exposed to worse in daycare. A quick web search shows that it’s legal in some states. One web site stated that it is legal for a minor to sit at a bar in California if accompanied by a parent or guardian. That doesn’t make it true, it wasn’t a state web site. But I’ve always assumed it was legal in most southern states - I’ve lived in TN, SC, NC, AL and FL and I’m reasonably sure I’ve seen kids at bars occasionally in all. Not mine, of course.
  5. I occasionally see that on land. If I’m sitting at the bar, I usually offer to buy them a whiskey. Sometimes the parents get the message, but not usually. I figure it’s not my bar, so I don't make the rules. It’s up to management and employees to keep kids away. But I’m not sure it’s the law, and if so, probably not in all 50 states.
  6. Movies are shown on deck constantly. There is giant Jenga: crew vs passengers. Coloring and origami
  7. That’s a reminder that I will need to restrict their medallions somehow. Years back, my youngest (12 or 13 years old at the time) showed up for dinner in the MDR with a new watch. God forbid my grandson sits down at the blackjack table and loses a grand.
  8. This probably doesn’t belong exactly here, but I’m not sure it merits its own thread. I booked a June cruise yesterday with my new TA. I won’t go into why I needed to make a change, but I did. It is the same agency, different office. I booked 2 cabins because I am taking my daughter and her family with us. I got home and entered my booking number into the app. It looked different than the day before and I figured it knows I have an upcoming voyage. It told me the booking number was assigned to someone else. So, I went to Princess.com. I entered first name, last name, birthday and it told me the birthday didn’t match their file. It was all correct information entered correctly. I thought maybe, being Princess, I need to wait a day for one system to talk to another. Nope. Same messages today. Then I tried my wife’s information and it let me in. Is there a primary cruiser identified somewhere in the database, and it was reversed from the past by my new TA, or do I have a bigger problem?
  9. I cannot find anything on the Princess website. We normally cruise when children are in school and see very few of them on the ship. We are taking our grandchildren with us in June. Our normal routine is to listen to music after dinner: Crooners, Wheelhouse typically. We’d like them to be with us occasionally. We won’t buy them beers (they are 8 and 12) and they know how to behave themselves in that atmosphere. We take them to brew pubs regularly for dinner and stay afterwards to listen to music. If they get bored, they know how to entertain themselves without running around or getting loud or whiny. Is there an official Princess policy that prohibits children in the lounges? I’m not interested in unofficial policies or passenger opinions, just the letter of the law.

I’m pretty sure they’re the same people.
  11. Our TA booked the princess shuttle for us. It was as much a tour as transportation. I really learned a lot and enjoyed it. I think it was $40 each.
  12. Good question. I never saw any sign that indicated they did, but I wasn’t looking for one. I order an Americano and it’s exactly the way I like my coffee.
  13. I tried the Lavazza with caffeine in the buffet on Sapphire 2 weeks ago and found it too strong. However, I ordered decaf in the MDR after dinner and thought it was excellent. The raw materials are there. But the process doesn’t seem consistent from venue to venue. I will continue to get my morning coffee from the IC.
  14. I went back in this afternoon and I couldn’t find what I was seeing earlier. It may have been fixed.
  15. We sailed Sapphire Princess in early September on the inside passage. We had a balcony on the port side and felt like we missed nothing. Most of the way, there is land on both sides. For Hubbard Glacier, we had an excellent view, but the both sides had their opportunity. Likewise, College Fjord was enjoyable from both sides of the ship. I think Starboard has better views when docked, however.
  16. The conversion to starlink took place over the summer I believe. Anything you knew or believed about Princess internet capability prior to that is outdated. We sailed Caribbean Princess in March (in the Caribbean) and performance was marginal. We sailed Sapphire Princess to Alaska in September and it was just fine.
  17. Of course there is a medallion app function you can use to find traveling companions on the ship that doesn’t require an internet subscription or texting capability.
  18. Maybe a TA would have the ability. I’m not giving up hope yet.
  19. I didn’t go that far. I worry that it would. Then 90 days out, no other cabins left, I get a bill for the difference and a take it or leave it message. I’m meeting my TA Friday and we will discuss it if it still comes up. This happens with airfares and it usually generates a refusal to honor and a refund. I don’t want that. I want a cabin.
  20. This one is 7 nights. But, yes, I prefer longer. 😆
  21. I’m planning a summer cruise with Princess and have been testing out various ships and itineraries. I picked one and priced an interior cabin. The cabin selection I was shown were all balcony and deluxe balcony cabins. At an interior price! What are the chances I could book and keep one? I tried asking for balcony and got a mini suite at a balcony price. Just more typical Princess website glitches, I suppose. But might someone not notice and let me keep it?
  22. It’s not the new norm if we won’t let it be. The service levels will remain (or return to) high if we insist.
