  1. This is how they are paid. The industry doesn’t want to mark up the basic cruise prices and scare away business. Just like restaurants don’t want to advertise yesterdays $30 steak as now costing $36. Has the tipping culture been reversed in other countries or did all of them start out the way they are?
  2. That’s a cynical reaction and not justified. Clearly the ball was dropped, at multiple levels. You have no cause to speculate on the reason. You have every reason to be disappointed. And nothing can erase the experience. So, I hope you get at least a written apology. And if I were the one writing it, it would come with compensation in some form.
  3. Look about a week before you sail. I’m not sure why they bother adding activities piecemeal. But they do.and just so you know, there are no reservations for any activities even though it looks like you are signing up for them.
  4. They don’t seem worried about you posting a complaint here. i’d love to see Princess’s written response. You should write them.
  5. I don’t eat dessert, but I can see someone taking one for later. My impression is that they are on the large side. But I’ve never been served an entree that I couldn’t finish. Some of them have been quite miniature. I sometimes leave the dining room still hungry. But the feeling goes away after my second Manhattan in the Wheelhouse after dinner.
  6. That’s what I was picturing. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t order what’s in that photo.
  7. We had no problems with DMW in March on CB. I had reservations for a private table for two at 6 each night despite booking less than 90 days before sailing. We never had to wait more than 5 minutes. It was a similar experience on Sapphire Princess in September. We next sail in June on Enchanted Princess. I just finished making 5 PM reservations for a table of 6. Much bigger ship, so we shall see.
  8. Shhh. Next thing you know, they’ll reduce the number for shorter cruises. That’s fair, but not what you’d like to see.
  9. We tried the omelet station at the buffet once and waited as long as we would have in the MDR, if not longer. Part of that wait is due to someone walking around the seating area looking for you while your food cools on the plate. I wonder why they don’t use the medallion to locate you. Plus the noise. Lord, the noise. If I can get there before the MDR closes, it’s no contest.
  10. Princess has recently announced a change in pricing policy. They intend to start low and raise prices as the departure date nears. It’s too soon to tell how successful this strategy will be. But, if it works the way they want, you are wise to book early. And as others have pointed out, monitor for price drops up until final payment.
  11. You are extrapolating from complaints on an IBB. Who knows what feedback Princess has actually received? My surveys reflect my satisfaction with DMW. I’m not interested in a return to TD. Princess may monitor CC, but I’m sure they discount what they read here. And the ships are full.
  12. I sailed on CB in March and ran into a broken token dispenser on my deck, but just went up a deck and found one in working condition.
  13. Token machine was working on the Sapphire Princess in September.
  14. Yes, the fitness classes have sign up sheets. You print your name and cabin number.
  15. You can order two at a time with no problems. Generally that means they will both be charged to your medallion, as if you were drinking both. Without a package, it wont matter. With a package, it might not matter unless your total drinks exceed 15 and they were all charged to one of you.
  16. No need to worry. None of us is steering the ship.
  17. I’ve never seen wild game on a cruise ship menu. I doubt there is sufficient demand. But there are plenty of restaurants onshore where you can try them. Use google to find one near you.
  18. I’ve done it twice and never got a second email message. I just found the OBC in my account quite soon after requesting via email. If it was me, I’d keep submitting daily via email until it shows. Did you try chat?
  19. 1. What sort of speed are you getting outside your cabin? 2. What do the folks in the Internet Cafe say?
  20. I’m puzzled by the posts of lines, waits and no available dining times. Can anyone tell me when DMW was implemented? And has anyone seen a table of MDR capacity by ship? I can understand if ships were built or refurbished with reduced capacity after DMW implementation. But surely a ship like CB was built prior. I do understand how TD could require less capacity. But I dislike too much structure myself, and I’m not all that keen on dining with strangers. We’ve sailed Norwegian and never encountered difficulty getting a two top in an MDR and I fail to see how their method enables better utilization of capacity. So, are their ships built with more or more flexible MDR seating? I can see how Princess might want to subtly drive business to SD. But in 17 days sailing so far, on older ships, I’ve always been able to make MDR reservations and have them honored for my desired times. Unless you have worked for Princess, I don’t think you know WHY this is happening. But maybe we can figure out HOW.
  21. I left a backpack on a London Underground train in 1996. It took two months and cost £50 to get it back. But I got it back. It had my wallet, camera, credit cards, cash, return air ticket, and a load of other goodies.
  22. There is. It’s where I would look first.
  23. The 15 minute wait was no big deal. The 45 minute wait was compounded by the app showing it delivered 5 minutes before it showed up. I figured someone else was eating my sandwich. A roll call buddy ordered a coke. When it didn’t arrive in an hour, he reordered. What showed up? Two cokes. So, yeah, there are glitches. But my two legs work just fine. I am never far from a bar and even the IC is easily reached if I get too hungry.
  24. I’d be shocked to see them again in my lifetime.
  25. If you are proposing to go to guest services and ask for an upgrade, I have my doubts about your chances of success. They could offer a paid upgrade if cabins are available. I think early is better than late. That way they can tell you to come back at 5:00 to see if someone failed to arrive. Good luck.
