  1. My lone Princess cruise to date was not on the Sky. I’ll let someone else offer an opinion.
  2. We had lunch and breakfast in a different MDR. It you had led me there blindfolded, I couldn’t have identified any significant differences between that and the one where we ate dinner. You may be more perceptive. Enjoy!
  3. They should use the web site on their computer, I suppose, and print out the QR code. If they don’t have a computer, maybe use one at the library.
  4. Is there a reason you are splitting amongst 3 MDRs? I think the advantage of sticking to a single MDR is the likelihood you will be recognized by the staff and treated with just a little more personal service. There are those among us here who long for the days of traditional dining. If you are one of those, you may find the experience more to your liking if you return to the same dining room night after night. We had the same headwaiter each night and got to know him pretty well, and vice versa, We did not see the same server every night but when we did get a repeat, he remembered us from a couple nights earlier. Being served by the same staff just makes for a smoother experience, like knowing not to put butter on my bread plate or remembering that my wife drinks cabernet so that a drink reorder took a few seconds less. And as several others have pointed out, you may be able to secure the same table and server for the entire cruise which elevates the experience just that much more. Part of the pleasure of cruising is being treated as if you are much more important than you might be in real life. This helps with that. Of course, none of this might matter to you. But if it does, something to consider.
  5. Not right away. Mrs BV had a day of seasickness followed by side effects from using the prescription patches. She’s not eager to sail again. For me, the drive to and from Ft Lauderdale is unpleasant - we hit a serious traffic jam on Floridas Turnpike on the way home. Not unexpected, no matter which Florida highway I drive, but I’m getting tired of it. There are surface roads but it takes so much longer. I’d like to introduce my grandchildren to cruising next. I’m thinking of a short Bahamas cruise out of Port Canaveral which is a less than 90 minute drive from home. I just need to coordinate with their school schedule. It won’t be Princess, because they don’t offer that. My next scheduled trip is next month and I’m getting a shuttle to and from the Orlando airport. Not a cruise, not warm sunny weather, but a reunion with people I worked with 30 years ago up north. I may need to find a cruise companion. One that doesn’t mind driving. Or one who wouldn’t mind flying to a different port, maybe on the west coast.
  6. Neither. I worried because it was getting close to sail away time. There was a crew member standing next to a kiosk type scanner. He explained that it wasn’t working and thanked us for stopping by. He did not have a handheld scanner or a paper checklist in his hand.
  7. I have the silicone rings. But I use them to make English muffins. I may try poaching eggs with them and see what happens. They’re shallow enough so that water should flow over the top and solidify the whites sufficiently.
  8. No specifications. Between the two of us, we ordered them 4 times. They came out the same in each instance. I would say the eggs were of a consistent size and they have the timing right.
  9. My first time in the buffet, I pointed to a dish and asked the server if there was any dairy in it. He went into the kitchen and brought out a cook (a guy with a tall white hat anyway) who pointed out what I could safely eat and what I could not.
  10. We were always asked if we wished to share a table, despite having reserved a table for two. We had food within 20 minutes of sitting most nights. They will bring bread pretty quickly. For whatever reason, every stage of the meal took forever on embarkation day. The buffet might be a good choice that night.
  11. It may well be the same mold used for the mousse..
  12. I didn’t mean to equate the two. I do know better. @billco mentioned burning calories so I thought I’d mention one of the better options I encountered for that.
  13. There was only the one. And it was never well attended when I saw it. My wife brought her mat and exercised on her own when she felt like it. I noticed a number of other yogis doing the same. OTOH, Zumba was huge anytime I observed. It didn’t matter whether it was on deck by the pool or in the dimly lit Fusion nightclub. So if you were looking to burn calories, that was an option. And a free one at that.
  14. You’ve not been on Caribbean Princess. Deck 16 dead ends with the fitness center. It was always busy when we visited but there was enough equipment to handle those who wanted to use it. Out of 3,140 passengers, it wasn’t but a small fraction.
