  1. Eastport is a small town...being the eastern most town in the US. It has extremely high and low tides, around 50 feet which is interesting to see. There are lots of local shops, art, locally made crafts, restaurants (lobster is king in Maine). You can take a local boat cruise from there that pulls lobster traps, if you have never seen how this is done and most of the time you will see whales too. The coast of Maine is some of the most beautiful scenery in all the US in my opinion. I lived in Camden Maine for 15 years and traveled around the state a lot. Eastport is on an island but is connected to the main land by a bridge. There will probably be other excursions listed for Eastport later on MVJ. Bar Harbor doesn't want cruise ships and passed regulations against them. Last I heard they were only allowing 1000 cruise passengers a day to visit. Maybe another cruise has already garnered that 1000 limit for the day you were suppose to be there. Just enjoy Maine as in the summer it is absolutely beautiful. (Pretty also in winter..but very cold and snowy). Enjoy.
  2. So sorry if I offended you, it was not my intention. I learned something today.
  3. I have a problem with your word usage in this post. Please do not call an epileptic seizure a "fit". My son has epilepsy and he does not have "fits" but he does have seizures. For someone so passionate about people with disabilities, that term is an insult to all epileptics.
  4. I have gotten fresh squeezed in world Cafe, restaurant, and room service. Those are the only places I have asked for it. There is no charge for it.
  5. We saw several on the Footsteps of the Elves excursion. I know there was another one that involved a boat trip where they were seen. We cruised to Iceland in August of 21 so we were in the bubble and couldn't do outside tours so can't help you with that. You will love Iceland..it is amazing.
  6. Beautiful girl. I have always had black labs....sweetest dogs ever. Glad you have her well taken care of so you can cruise.
  7. My saddest ones seen have been Haiti, Panama and Cuba. I felt so sorry for those people and even though there were some beautiful sights to be seen......getting to them was as you said, passing through some very depressing areas. I work with a lady that is married to a Cuban and the things she has told me about the conditions her husband endured are heart breaking. He is now a US citizen and thinks this is the greatest country in the world.
  8. Great. I was beginning to think we would be sailing with only a handful of passengers. Our rollcall is strangely quiet although I have seen we will have a lot of Aussies on ours trying to get us to eat vegimit.:) 😀 What other excursions are you looking at? I definitely want the train.
  9. We stayed in 5026 in Jan 22 for West Indes cruise. No noise at all and being close to elevators and stairs was great. I would stay in any of those you list. All great cabins. Enjoy your cruise.
  10. Thank you. It is pricey but hopefully it will be worth it...if it is not
  11. Thank you so much. That sounds wonderful. Glad I am not afraid of heights...hate roller coasters...not for the height but that drop. Not for me. Do you remember the cost for this excursion?
  12. Thank you for this. I will need to look into that one and hope I can get it when the DV opens up.
  13. Was yours a Viking excursion? I have not seen anything offering a bus one way and train the other. that sounds like something I would like to do. We are booked on Icelands Majestic Landscapes in July. I am afraid the train will be packed with tourists at that time of year. Thanks for any info you can provide.
  14. I am a 4 star mariner on HAL, but I have left them for Viking. Their ships are worn out and show it so I don't want to be on one of them until they do something about the condition of the cabins. I was told they had refurbished but found out they had only refurbished the suites. OK, HAL, you have lost me to Viking. I am about to go on my 5th Viking cruise and I love the ships.
  15. I can dream!!! If it is Abba and Beatles, I will be avoiding the theater like the plague. Those were both horrid in my opinion.
  16. Why do they call it "common" sense when it is so uncommon?
  17. Well that would definitely curb one's appetite. 🙂
  18. Woo Hoo!!! That is excellent news!! I could not sit through another Abba or Beatles show. I have seen those 4 times and 3 were too many!! 🙂 I have a Norway-Iceland cruise in July so I am looking forward to different entertainment. Thank you Viking for making a change. It is greatly appreciated.
  19. If you use E Check to pay for your excursions, do you need to pay after each selection? Or can, you chose several and then pay for all at once? I know if you use a credit card you need to pay for each one individually to make sure you have them but not sure how it works with the E Check? Thanks in advance for any insight into how that one works.
  20. I have gotten a bacon and cheese omelet added mushrooms and tomatoes, which was very good. Anything I have added or changed has always been delivered. I watched them break the eggs so know they were "real" eggs.
  21. LOL. Aren't your clothes dirty again after you have walked all over them trying to get to the balcony before you melt from the heat????
  22. I have been on 4 (soon to be 5 Viking cruises) and have never had a problem getting reservations at the specialty restaurants. Other nights I just walked down to the main dining room (the Restaurant) and was promptly seated wherever I wanted (always by a window) or I ate at the World Cafe if I didn't want to change clothes from my excursion. For excursions, I always got the included ones if that was what I wanted. I got the optional ones I wanted (maybe not at the time I wanted but still got them). If they were sold out on MVJ, I would just ask once on board and somehow they always came through. I find it disturbing that people get so angry when things don't work out the way they want them to. Have a little patience and some faith that Viking will do everything in their power once you are on board to make this a cruise you will be so glad you took. Sometimes there are circumstances in life that are beyond their control but I will tell you from my experience, they will do whatever they can to assist you to get what you want be it reservations in the specialities or excursions that you desire.
  23. Well that is concerning as our first Jupiter cruise is coming up in July. We have been on both the Sea and Sky and had no problems with the GM answering questions without being defensive. I will have to say on the Sea was the first time (4 Viking cruises prior) that I was told "No, I can't do that". It was over the simple request for Ranch dressing at the Pool Grill. I was told they would have to go all the way to the restaurant to get ranch. Didn't understand the problem as I am sure the world cafe had ranch dressing but no one would go get it. I reported this to Viking and was told that employee would not be a Viking employee for long with that attitude. It really surprise me that he refused to go get any and I didn't understand them not having any on hand as ranch is one of the most popular salad dressings. Hoping that our Jupiter cruise is the delight I am accustomed to from Viking. We pay premium prices to sail on Viking and expect and deserve exceptional service. Has anyone else noticed that all humanity seems to be angry and self centered these days???
