While we're on the subject, I'd like to talk about Carnival shipboard security operations. Other than gangway duty I rarely see security patrolling the decks on Carnival ships. We've all seen the late night brawls in the dance clubs on youtube with security attempting to restore order. Ask yourself how often have you seen a security team member patrolling the hallways on the decks where the sleeping cabins are located monitoring the halls to see if someone left their cabin door open, to record the location of scooters and wheelchairs left in the corridors in violation of the safety rules, or use their nose to be on alert for a potential smoldering fire in a linen closet? I can't think of one time in 28 Carnival cruises that I've seen that happen. Not once.
If prevention is worth a pound of cure the security department should focus more on prevention than putting out disturbances on an "as needed" basis. From the example of the OP security can't even do this right and respond to incident reports long after the disturbance is over.
