  1. Thanks for clearing that up….I really like the way Regent has always done it. Thanks for posting the clarification.
  2. It was really empty… you had your choice of loungers!😂 They is a cart transport offered to get from the ship to the island. There is no way I could have done that walk!
  3. Interesting, it is a change, maybe if there is enough screaming they will give those changing levels during the cruise with some OBC like they did when they changed the laundry benefit to a standard for everyone.🤣
  4. That is the way it has always been done we will soon move to titanium days during a cruise. Someone posted it has changed??
  5. I didn’t see any cost cutting/lowering standards on cruises earlier this year either. Though it id time to replace carpets etc in the Navigator. The cruise (how things work on the ship) is what is important to us. On the four we have booked over the next two years have one of the promised new features I really like … they are doing more over nights which we really like. My earlier reference to industry standard was referring to our experiences with other lines including NCL banded ships. Regent has always been you have the new level’s benefits when you board and don’t have to wait until the end to move up. I think if it is actually changing, it has to do wirh being under NCL umbrella.
  6. The awarding the nights at the end of a segment as apposed to when you board is an industry standard and may have to do with the NCL owners. It will affect the discounts amount once on board, that is not much compared to the cost of a Regent multi segment cruise. Added up over many cruisers though it may be impressive to the companiy’s bottom line and even to it’s survival. That is important to us as we are past land vacations and mega ship crowds.
  7. Guess you no longer own/drive a car. In 1973 gasoline was -$.30 a gallon, it is now hovering around $3 a gallon. Then they pumped your gas and cleaned the windows with a Smile, now it is all self serve or you do with out. Things change…… We adapt and go on enjoying life or we don’t and spend time complaining even if there is really nothing to complain about…….yet.
  8. WOW! Very unprofessional if he said that and doesn’t need to be working on aa Regent ship. I am old almost 80 and I booked 8 reservations this past Dec for a table for two….and got a table for two when we showed up no questions asked, it was noted in the hostess book. The computer form is easy to use, you choose shared or not, just that people don’t bother to read, not just older people many younger ones don’t bother to read the instructions either.
  9. We were there in Dec. it is a beautiful resort type island with beaches, shops, food places. There is a golf cart type transport from the ship as it is a long walk and very hot and humid. I think it also went around the island set up like a town. We were the only ship there that day so no crowds. We did the electric boat island tour because it was short and the heat is hard on us. It was nice there were only eight of us in a smallish cover boat and they served rum punch while we watched for manatees. The beach area looked very nice with loungers and umbrellas. The water sports toys were impressive. We will be there again next year and will do one of the boat tours again as the boats are new and very accessible from from the nice marina. Sorry these next ones are from the next port and for sone reason I can’t seem to delete them.
  10. Yes feature dinner wines are included. There are a number of included wines on each cruise. Be sure and go to the wine tasting usually in the morning the first or second day. Look in passages, it is usually listed like an feature not in the hourly daily schedule but in the body of the news letter. They will spend time helping you find included wines you like. Ttgen you just tell the steward at the meal what you want. I take my phone and take a picture so I remember.
  11. Over the last 12 years the earliest we have been able to board is 11:30.. The earliest boarding time we have had on our boarding pass is 12:30, but that has not mattered on embarkation day. Boarding always seems to start at 11:30. We have boarded in Miami three times this past year at 11:30. The ships are usually not cleared of passengers until after 9 and they have to have time to clean and reset. In Miami there was someone checking paperwork at the main entrance door. I wouldn’t push the check in start time to hard, there was no place to sit outside the main entrance if it is not open.
  12. We went to the Brazilian Embassy in Houston for our first one…. It was almost $600 for two there at that time but wasn’t hard to get going direct to the Embassy. It was good for 10 years and we did use it two more times but had to carry the old passport the on the last trip. Wonder what this one will cost! We will need one so the Amazon cruise next year.
  13. Most times they have one running from ship every 20-30 to 45 mins. Though it isn’t exact and it doesn’t always start as soon as the ship is cleared. Also some take a long lunch break like from 12 to 2 Like everything else not all ports have a shuttle even if the town center is a long walk. We often times will book a tour that gets us into town as part of the tour and then when we have done what we wanted on the tour, leave (checking out with the guide) and do our own thing in town and make our own way back to the ship…. Usually by taxi since when we are ready to go the ship is not necessarily when the shuttle is. As with all things cruising be flexible. Your experience will be if it from it. 🙂
  14. There is no perfect line. Each line is different and does things differently some more to one’s liking others not as much. Hope the rest of your cruise is wonderful. Over the years we have sailed with SS, Seabourn, Cunard, Celebrity, HAL and years ago Princess and NCL and others. IRegent checks most boxes that are important to us now. It all boils down to personal preferences.
  15. Once we knew the wine we liked was in Chartreuse we asked that it be served to us in CR. We got it promptly also and had no problem the rest of the cruise. Just took us going to Charreuse on the Splendor, but the next week on the Navigator no problem in CR from the get go..
  16. So sorry your trip was canceled. This fire season has been terrible. Hope the rest goes well.
  17. That is my biggest complaint about all the speciality restaurants on the new ships. One of our favorite wines is now only offered in Chartreuse…..fine when we are eating there. When we had asked for :it earlier in CR were told it was unavailable, but when we discovered that it was served Chartreuse we asked for some to be brought to CR for us. They did but….
  18. How could I forget the wine especially When served with some pear and Tiger Blue pizza😋!
  19. So sorry to here this. We have camped at the lake several times over the years. We make the trip from Texas to buy the area’s a Tiger Blue Cheese and enjoy the countryside. Stay safe….
  20. Our experience is that Regent’s featured wine is picked to pair well the special of the day. If it is not to your taste you can tell the wine server a kind that is more to your liking and if there is a type on the free list they get for you to try. The best thing to do is to go to the wine tasting offered early on. They will work with you to find several available wines to your liking based on foods you enjoy. If you want wine picked out for you that a paired exactly to the dish, you probably need to do one of the wine pairing meals. Most staff serving wine are just servers learning about wine and don’t always know that mush about what goes with what. You need to help them a bit at least as to what you like. Like others have told you we don’t mean to be snarky but you are expecting too much service from the free wine service. It was never meant to be an individual wine pairing for each course every night. There are one to maybe three actual sommeliers in the dinning rooms. They are handling the for a cost wines and also helping serve. There isn’t enough time for them to go table by table to pair a wine with each course every passenger picks every night. The servers expect some help as to what you like…..white, red, sweet, dry, type a grape etc. if the selected wine for the evening is not to your liking.
  21. Loving your report! Your dinner is one of our favorites….we like Chartreuse also! Those sunsets are.my favorite thing about that itinerary! Thanks for sharing.
  22. I think I read last Christmas that one was 2 hours on a bus and other was 5 hours on the bus for two hours at the site. That alone would make my choice as it is hot and humid there and the buses are sometimes not be best as far as AC is concerned. We have been to many of the ruins many times over the last 49 years. All the ruins are interesting especially if you have never seen any of them. Last Christmas we didn’t even get off the ship it was so hot, but as I say we have been to many of the ruins.
  23. This happens sometimes as late as when the ship actually arrives at the port. Changes and delays happen and the tours are adjusted accordingly. The duration of the tours is just an estimate anyway not exactly 13.5 hours etc. excursion start times and lengths are easily changed (usually anyway) to accommodate port changes. We have never missed the highlights of any all day tour regardless of the actual length. If they don’t cancel the tour they will adjust it to fit with the port time. No refund unless the tour sites are changed big time. It will still be a all day tour. According to your times it only amounts to 25-50 minutes. Long tours have extra time built in and especially in Egypt ( you may have a police escort we did so you breeze past traffic ) You will report early and be the first tours off the ship and the crew will be waiting to pull the pull the gangway in behind you as you board. If they cancel the tour you will get your money back.
  24. This is unusual for the ports around the world that we have visited…..special to Alaska?? Alaska is special anyway! But I agree with you, I like meeting on the dock better. Gives me time to get to the bus with out holding everyone else up. Also wish that Regent would run more tour choices for the not so early risers.
  25. This is not new…. Some afternoon tours have met on the dock and yes there are usually not too many tours involved. For the cattle call in morning the theater probably works best for crowd control around the buses. There aren’t a lot of afternoon tours though. We had a few in the Caribbean last winter and they met on the dock. We had some on the 2018 WC. Pappy just put one person in charge of getting the bus tickets for the group and keep everybody in shouting distance or sight which ever happens for your tours together.
