  1. This past Dec the tours that were first thing in the morning met in the theater and changed tickets for bus numbers. Later in the day we just walked off and to the bus. There was someone to show us the way if not obvious.” It depends on the port situation.
  2. Agree. There is nothing like a hot and usually humid (because AC is not set cool enough) Compass Rose or bar. A light wrap or jacket is the easy solution keeping everyone comfortable.
  3. We were on the Splendor 12/3-12/20/22 this past pre Christmas and it was very nice but we had the best time on the Navigator 12/22/22 to 1/3/23. There was a very traditional Christmas vive and we had a wonderful time. The decorations were very traditional, lots of very colorful decorated trees and gingerbread houses, Christmas teas, Christmas programs and a moving Christmas Eve service directed by Ray. We would go again in a minute especially on the Navigator or the Mariner. They have a very personal feel. So
  4. When we did it we checked out of the hotel like usual, made our way the the train station and on the train with our luggage. Once at the port make your way to the dock and check in with Regent personal and board the ship. The dock porters will take over your luggage and get in on the ship. Keep you personal carry on with you. The train ride is beautiful, good choice to make your own way. They will others d doing the same.
  5. Strange though, since as the poster says they have been doing this transfer since June, two months now and I haven’t heard of any problems in this board or on fb. Lots of moving parts on the third party transfers in Alaska, maybe this is just a one off deal…would hope so . We have had enough problems when we have turned our transfers over to some one else over 40+ years of cruising. Now we make our own arrangements to get to and from the airport and two and from the ship be it Regent, SS, Seabourn or Cunard. No brand is immune to problems with third parties and particularly post Covid.
  6. Pre Covid we were able to make reservations qright away after boarding, but we generally take longer cruises. This past Dec Jan we took a string of 7-10 cruises and could not get any more reservations once on the ship. But we were able to get more nights by just showing up when the restaurant opened. Shorter the cruise the harder to get extra nights I think.
  7. Only Prime 7 takes reservations. Sette Mari and CR are open seating. When you want to eat at Sette Mari go when they open as they are usually very popular. In C R you can be seated when you arrive most anytime. Make you reservation at Prime early in the cruse so you can possibly get another night if you enjoy it.
  8. Thank you for posting the location to cancel the mailings. I just poked around the website until I found it. It does work though with some of the sites I have had to do it twice. It does work. I have done this with many companies to cut down in their mailers.
  9. If you don’t want the mailings just go to the website and request no mailings. There is a place on Regents website just like most other company websites. You may have to make the request more than once, but the mailings will stop. I did it a couple of years ago before Covid and haven’t received one since. This has been suggested many times on this board and it does work. Complaining about it is wasted effort. But to Regents credit the mailings we got before ever sailing with them got us to book a first cruise. We had been sailing with Sesboune and SS with many mailings from all three! Bulk mailing of flyers is cheaper and does bring in new and repeat customers more than mailing the box of worthless miscellaneous fake leather stuff to a current passengers will. Passengers will get nice luggage tags when packing to come home as they move up the SS loyalty ladder. Good service by an attentive staff, food and the ship are what make the luxury experience for us. The luxury cruise starts for us when we hear the “Welcome Aboard” and know we are in the good hands of the wonderful staff.
  10. No tipping for tours was never included. I think the included tours perk started around 2009-2010 shortly before our fist cruise on Regent. Seems it was fairly new inclusion then. Someone will correct me if the timing is wrong.
  11. They will make dishes on request as long as the ingredients are in the kitchen. sometimes the Mariner and the Navigator have a dish or two as a special on the nightly CR menu from one of the speciality restaurants. With over 200 days on those two ships we have never been disappointed with the food in the CR.
  12. Didn’t ask for mushroom soup but had the lobster tempura twice on our Dec cruise on the Navigator. Had it earlier in the.PR on the Splendor in Nov and I thought the CR on the Navigator did a much better job, it was way over cooked in the PR. I have requested the dish numerous times on the Navigator and the Mariner precovid. It is my favorite dish!
  13. Really this is old news and was dissuaded here several months ago. NCL announced earlier in the year that they were making a few changes to cut some cost without effecting the on board experience. Regent had done away with the fake leather pouch last year in Europe. I, along with others, am glad to see the fake leather pouch go. Many of us toss them after getting the paper out.as they just take up space and don’t effect on the luxury service Regent is known for.
  14. I have ordered the lobster tempura on the Mariner and Navigator CR with 24 hr notice. They do not have the PR menu, but if you know the dish. You want and they have the ingredients in the kitchen they will fix it with 24 notice. Also have various dishes from the speciality restaurants on the CR nene though out the cruise.
  15. On our 10 day cruise on the Splendor with two sea day Suns. the Brunch was only on one of the Sundays. So not necessarily on every Sun.
  16. My thoughts also. We cruised when our children were young and now with grandchildren, but on RC and CCL. We cruise alone on Regent so we can really enjoy the cruise!
  17. We were on theSplendor earlier and the beds in a G suite was smaller than the standard US king, but larger than a Queen by a little. But they split as said above.
  18. And would stop up the ships plumbing for sure. The TP is like the type used for RV systems….designed to fall apart fast and easily therefore kind to the plumbing system. But I agree the brand they are using is not soft and falls apart a little to easily!🫢
  19. Yes, just leave the Regent bottles, why haul them home if you don’t like them. Left three sets on the ships after our three Dec, Jan cruises. We use our own metal insulated bottles we bring from home. They are some smaller and really keep the water cold with added ice. We use these everyday at home. Much nicer than the Regent bottles.
  20. Well I have never been on a Regent cruise that everybody or even somebodies were dressed in jeans and shirts….maybe the odd black jeans hidden under a sports coat. Really not much denim seen even on the ladies. The dress in Regent dinning rooms look like most really nice restaurants in any big city most any night…. Properly dressed in nice casual outfits up to the suit and tie and even a tux and cocktail dresses, maybe couples celebrating with a cake. We are very comfortable wearing fancy clothes if in the mood any night. If you have to have forced formal nights with everyone dressed like for you to to enjoy wearing your fancy clothes many lines still have that including at least one lux line (at least I think). Thankfully Regent does not.
  21. I hope so. It was a pain to get the Brazil visa the first time we went years ago.
  22. Auto correct😖 expensive! Use your imagination.
  23. Both countries use to require visas in early 2000’s then both agreed not to. Now I have heard the US is requiring them so Brazil is too. Probably no pass for cruise passengers and the past they were very expressive.
  24. Wear what you want / enjoy on your cruise as long as you are within Regent guide lines as stated on their web site. No will bat an eye and you will enjoy your cruise. As long as your are within the Regent guidelines it is nobody business anyway.
  25. Also why we pick Regent over other cruise lines. It is nice to have the choice! I have seen couples dressed to the nines on a non formal option nights. If we are celebrating something (birthday etc) we will pack something more dressy to wear on the actual date, not necessarily on a formal option night….same as dinner out in a nice restaurant in the US. You can see casual to dressy most every night.
