  1. Don’t worry to much about the tours. We just booked three cruises all within final payment period (one is a Holiday cruise) and didn’t have a problem with getting tours we wanted , suitable specially dinner times on the Splendor and Navigator and even two spots for a cooking class on the Splendor. Previously precovid, even if we had to wait list a tour we got cleared for it by the time we boarded.
  2. Good report, thanks. We have been to Kitchikan 6 times and it has always rained. I think they are famous for their rain😄. Have a good cruise!
  3. This is always so confusing to me….but you are right, we do watch the fireworks onTV in Sydney before at home. 🤣
  4. Are you sure. Australia is a day ahead so on the 28 th here it would be the 29+ there. We have always lost a day going west to Australia.
  5. Thanks so mush for the info. That is just what I need….for traveling now.
  6. Word of warning. The tour times can and often do change once you get the final tickets upon boarding. Take the start time and to a lesser extent the actual tour time as a best guess. We have had start times change by 30 minutes up to an hour or more earlier or later. Since you are booking a tour months and months before the sail date things sometimes change. Bring a tender port and very popular that might be the time you will gather in the lounge for bus ticket before being taken in groups to the tender. Don’t plan your day to full.
  7. My husband and I feel this way also. We can and do use computers and cell phones very day. On. Cruises we give them a welcome rest retiring them to the safe to be used in an emergency. We do not walk around the ship phone in hand. I do carry the actives page folded up around during the day with things mark that interest. When on Carnival are RCL with the grandkids, it is a pain to always have to go online somewhere/how to see what is happening. For the price Regent charges they can afford to have paper daily programs for those of us who like them and on-line to for those that can’t live with out they phones and an app.
  8. The previous poster talks about first forum for Vancouver then arriving in Victoria and needing another form. Could this be, they were on an Alaskan cruise embarked in Vancouver (first forum) and went to the US and then arrived back in Victoria at some point later, second forum needed since coming from US?
  9. We like to go over the paper copy of Passages after dinner and plan the next day marking what we are interested in doing or checking out. Agree there is to much stuff on line…. Hard to keep up with at times.
  10. Formal optional 1, 2 + nights depending on length of cruise. Somewhere on Regent.com it tells you the schedule and the simple dress code. a jacket and/or tie is never required by Regent in any restaurant on Regent ships. Many men including my husband do not even take a jacket even on Grand and World cruises. He may take a jacket for our Holiday cruise, however, but just because we dress up a bit at home in the Holidays. Regent dress code is really easy to pack lightly for; casual daytime wear, country club casual in the evening but no jeans T-shirts shorts in the evening except around the pool.
  11. A word of caution…..In 2018 the Navigator docked at 46(or a dock away from the main port area with the other ships) after the WC. There were markers for a shuttle bus that was scheduled for every 30 min. We waited 45 mins and 3 other people waited over an hour. We finally called a cab to come for us. I don’t know what happened to the others.
  12. Glad to hear this about the G. We dearly love an aft facing cabin so we have booked a G for a B2B this Dec. Over the years we have found anything over 200sq ft comfortable for us and the Mariner and Navigator Es are wonderful so we are going to try the G smaller I know but with our favorite aft view. There are always trade offs.
  13. So true!!! My family is from Spartanburg but I have lived in Texas most of my life. We use to go back to my Grandparents to be a little cooler in the Summer. I find the heat and humidity much worse in Bangkok and that part of the world partly because they AC is not as good as ours. And on many port days, the ship’s AC can’t keep the humidity down either. Just be prepared.
  14. Flossie009, Tried again…I was using my phone and not seeing any information about the classes. Was not having any problems with out and dinner reservations, however. Tried on husband IPad and made a class reservation for the new world Med cooking class for both of us. Thanks all for help. Sounds like good fun!
  15. How do you find out the time of day and what kind of food you will be making?
  16. OK I see the days classes are offered on my Splendor cruise. I click on the day and it looks like it is added to my cart and tells me my on board credits cover the class. But can I find out what time the class is and what we will cook before I spend the money? Also does DH have to go into his account to book a class if we want to it together?
  17. But you are covering the full cost with a combo of Chase and Steve’s company, right. I can understand that.
  18. Forgap, we have talked to Steve several times as others have mentioned doing this. But Every time I read the policy contract, I stumble over the fact the the policy requires coverage of the total cost of the trip or it would void the insurance. Have you ever had to collect on the medical doing this?
  19. We only buy medical evac insurance and have self insured the rest of our trips except a WC. Now, at our age, even that is so costly, even if we can get it. We are signed up the 24 WC. Not sure how we are going to handle that. All insurance has become breathtaking expensive in the last few years!
  20. Are there stool to sit down are you standing the whole time. I use a stool at home when I have to stand at stove or for prep.
  21. My point is that the whole crew can benefit from our contribution to the crew fund. We have been cruising regularly for 40 years with many hundreds of days on a number of lines. Regent most be doing something right as they have the happiest crew (most satisfied) of any line we have sailed. And the crew themselves talk about the crew fund.
  22. $800 a month seems low…..that is starting? pay for laundry staff. This is staff who don’t benefit from any cash tips. But they do benefit from the things provided by the crew fund. I have been told the the pay scale is a sliding scale based on the crew members home country. So it is hard to compare salaries in the US or UK with other countries.
  23. Well, it does not take much time energy or effort. Some people really like that Regent includes a full package cruise. Regent states in bold letters what the cruise price includes….including gratuities. Others like to go the extra mile to take the time to make management aware of staff who gave good service. Some like to thank the whole crew with something extra to the crew fund. Others like to just pass a little money to a couple of people. It is the passenger’s choice and there is nothing wrong the path each pick.
