  1. We booked tours in early Oct for our Dec cruises. Some I had to waitlist, but we have cleared the waitlist so there is a good chance everything will work out for you too. Also check at the tour desk when you first board. They may have openings on some tours what you really wanted or they can add you to their wait list. The free tours tend to make people sign up months in advance (to get their monies worth) then change their minds once in the ship as late as the morning of the tour.
  2. Gwesq i seem to always have problems booking the tours. I find d the process tedious! I have learned to book only one at a time, that is go through the whole process before doing another tour. When you pick a tour or waitlist one you have to add it to your cart then go to the pay part even though it might be a free tour. You will get other button to click that will confirm the tour. This happens over several screen changes until you see the last one that shows the receipt for the booked /waitlisted tour. Sounds like you are missing one of the steps. If you don’t click all the buttons your cart will be empty when you finish. I have leaned not to waste my time doing several at once because I usually miss something and wind up with nothing! Maybe somebody can tell the exact order of the clicks…. It been several weeks since I did ours for our Dec cruises, but half the time if I did more than one tour at a time came up with an empty cart!
  3. In Concierge you will able to book tours and dinning when they first open. Lower suite levels unless you have SS status book later. Everyone is limited to one dinning reservation per restaurant before boarding. Tours have no limit other than because of tour start times. Once on board anyone can ask for more reservations it they are available, no butler needed…. Which your mom probably already knows. Food can be delivered by calling room service….anything fron a cookie to the course by course meal. really no Buttler needed. All Regent suites are very nice. It looks to be about.$1050pp to go from a D to a bigger suite in a Penthouse B. That’s about $70 a day pp. Only you/your mom knows if it worth the increase In the cruise price. If you were 3 to a room I would say definitely, but a D is very comfortable for 2 and will get you the good benifits.
  4. We just got the email today from our TA. She would have been on top of of this if we were Flying to Miami next month. But we have always been told that the name on the air ticket needed to match the passport . You say you made you own air reservations for Jan so it seems Regent would be out if the loop for those tickets. You don’t have tickets yet for the later flight so there is nothing to change on those nonexistent tickets. I read it as no charge to you since there is nothing Regent has to change with the airline.?? FWIW our TA have always made sure she has our name as it appears on the passport. Another reason to use a good TA.
  5. As I understand it, Regent will get what you want if it is part of the existing contracts for seats they have with the various airlines. If you don’t like what they can do you don’t have to except. They may have a airline contract that covers seats on the flights you want.
  6. Is it different from ship to ship (Regent)? There was a thread just recently from someone who was allowed out of quarantine after The 0-5 day and 2 Test routine. They got to enjoy the last few days of their cruise. I think CDC is now saying quarantine for 5 days and negative test.
  7. Yes you can ask for no appetizers or just the one you like. On the WC (last time on Regent) we only liked one of the three they served every night. We asked for that one, the roasted garlic and bread. You can pick what you want. Eat as much or little as you want, be served or self serve. I would have a small pasta or maybe some soup and some sort of veggie. My DH is a meat or fish eater so he ordered a main dish. We did indulge in a dessert. We don’t like buffets and avoid breakfast and lunch at La Veranda if at all possible.
  8. Put yourself in the waitlist. You have almost a year to clear. We just cleared for a neat tour we wanted on a Christmas cruise. It was waitlisted when we booked the cruise 2-3 months ago. Our experience over the last 11 years is we always clear the wait list by the time of the cruise.
  9. Same here. In fact we booked a WC just past finial payment and got spots on all but one tour we wanted for all segments. We waitlist that one and before we got to the cruise the wait list cleared. Same with dinner reservations and the cooking classes on our up coming Splendor cruise. Got spots in 2 classes last week for Dec cruise. it is silly to lose sleep over tours and dinner reservations especially almost a year out. Lots of things change…. Including some tours!
  10. I read as $500 is charged if the name is changed, not just a charge everyone has to pay.
  11. Only penthouse and above from our experience.
  12. Exactly about the odds and ends of bottles. I have been told that when traveling in wine regions Regent takes on wines of the area and feature them while in the area. This was the case on the WC and when we did a circle SA cruise. They always have a few orphan bottles of reds and whites that they can bring out from previous cruises, but not enough for a formal list. On the 2018 WC I found a red that I loved so the wine steward put our suite # in it, where was enough for almost the whole trip. I can’t stress enough to go to the wine tasting of the wines readily available on your cruise especially if you are picky. It is usually in the morning of the first sea day, a tasting with almost one on one help so you can find some wines to your liking. Then you can ask for that wine at the meal… it is really easy and fun to find wines you like with the tasting and the input of the staff there.
  13. This works very well for most, including us. We know what we like in wines and the staff finds something we like.in the red and whites and we go with those. If you expect fine high end dinning like in fine land based restaurants that serve many less people a day, you will be disappointed. Even with the smaller Regent ships, they are serving 500 to 700 people a night for dinner. If fine wine matched to your meal every night is what you need to be happy maybe cruising is not for you at least on Regent. Luxury for many if no most Regent cruisers is not having to sign a check with every drink, good food and a delightful, friendly helpful staff.
  14. Amen! Many 50+ year olds don’t care for Beyoncé et Al. Just play a variety of old and new in different lounges something for all taste.
  15. We always ask for a dinning room chair for our suite (sofa too low) and to have the coffee table removed so there is more room in the standard suites.. I have walked with the aid of canes since my early 60’s. Agree some higher chairs in the lounges and grab bars in the bath would go along way for comfort for those with mobility problems. Many are still able to go and do and enjoy cruising. Even 40 years ago when we did our first cruise, grabs in the bath were helpful especially in rough seas. There will always be older people cruising especially the WC’s, grand voyages and cruises of 3-4 weeks, BtoBs.. They are the people mostly likely to have the time. Regent would do well to consider their comfort and safety in their plans also.
  16. Sounds good to me. But I am a late night sweetcoholic! Maybe it will not hurt dinner service since it happens before 6 and after 9. Guess time will tell.
  17. Thanks for taking us alone. Istanbul is one of our favorite cities. Been there a number of times over the last 40 years. Your day sounds wonderful and great room view!
  18. Around the world …. Cruises I think she means. I wonder also about “hard to believe”. Am I missing something. The Mariner is a great ship for WCs with all that nice public spaces fore, aft and mid ship since WCs have lots of sea days. Everyone just needs to follow the rules about what can go down the toilet and there would be no problems.
  19. Our agent tells us what the rebate will be at booking or as soon as she knows. We can get it as OBC and refunded if not used or in a check after the cruise. We know the amount long before Findlay payment.
  20. I have the same question regarding the Navigator.
  21. We have done this several times. Just call the hotel and have the reservations linked. Sometimes there is a difference in the rate. Always have been able to work it out. Rachel we usually do to, but on Grand Voyages and the WC the first night is included and there are other things to do also. It is worth combining the extra days before I that case. It might be worthwhile when adding days to a pre or post cruise package also.
  22. It depends on how well you enjoy being bearded in mass from ship to bus to hotel lobby to buse to airport. Not everyone will have the pre hotel and some will elect to take the credit for the post as we would. As Flossie says take the credit and do your own thing at the end. Renting a car is easy in Southampton and and drop it at the airport. There are many B&Bs/small hotels in the greater area and it is loaded with interesting sites. Much more relaxing than being crammed on buses with several hundred “friends”. You will really not have much time to enjoy London. Sometimes the pre and post transfers go smoothly. Other times it is a nightmare. You are no longer on the ship in Regents direct care. Now Regent is depending on third parties for smooth sailing and often times it is not. We have found we can do it better on our own and have a nicer experience especial overseas. Airport transfers are a drop in the bucket compared to the cost of Regent cruises. A taxi or private car on your own schedule is the only way to go if you want a hassle free transfer. JMO
  23. Our experience is in a conference/ ballroom for the regent passengers.
  24. We actually landed in the Zimbabwe airport. Paid fee for visa there with US. This was pre Covid but we used credit card or US while there. You could go across the bridge and see the falls from Zambia side but we didn’t. At that time the local people were aggressively begging and we were traveling on our own and the taxi situation wasn’t the best. The park is very safe and the Falls are beautiful. Since you will be with Regent, you will have guides and maybe things have improved. We were on a long trip having cruised from US to Sydney on the Queen Elizabeth and worked our way over land to Africa before meeting the Queen Mary in Cape Town. Since we couldn’t ship luggage into Cape Town, too much theft at the airports, we were carrying everything. Hopefully Regent can store you large cases. Have a great time!
  25. So sorry you missed your play. Fortunately you are not too stressed about a hotel room and a missed flight. The weather has really done a number on Florida and the Eastern sea board and your cruise. Thanks for your reports from one of.my favorite ships. You can’t do anything about the weather, but seems as you made the most of it, adjusting as need be. Have a safe trip home.
