  1. You are exactly right in your take on the “unlimited”. In the contract you sign when you pay it is explained every well. But as you say it is just common sense really…. But that seems very uncommon these days. Hopefully the marketplace and the work force through out the world will soon get back some stability. Mean while I will enjoy everything a Regent offers.
  2. Keep in mind that unless these tours are truly private(as in a car or small van for 2-6), they will be similar to the tours Regent is offering. Viator especially. Also look into the private car services (like the ones that offer airport/hotel transfers)and just hire the car and driver for a set number of hours and plan your own tour. That has work well for us in Europe, India snd Japan.
  3. For what port was you tour canceled. See you are on the Navigator. We were on her in Dec.
  4. Isn’t that the truth!! Also enjoy the cute little animals guests travel with. Our animals visit with their animals every chance they get. The staff take every chance to interact with the passengers… this is what makes Regent service so enjoyable.
  5. This has happened off and on over the years at least since we started cruising Regent 12 years ago. Not so much precovid but it did happen. It happened once this past Dec after we boarded. Really Regent can’t control the tours canceling anymore than it can the airlines canceling you flight to the ship. There are only so many tours available in each port. Sometimes a tour was added after we boarded or a full tour opened up. Do check once you board and the day of the tour for no shows. There was nothing open in Dec so hired a taxi to take us around and found a place to have lunch.
  6. US no longer adds pages to passports. You have to get a new passport. In 2018 when we did a five month land and cruise trip around the world, South Africa require four consecutive blank pages. Our passport was good for another two yeas and we had plenty of pages but only one set of 4 together. At a suggestion from someone on CC I paper clipped the 4 We needed for SA together with a note. But I also don’t trust things to work when really needed, so we got an extra passport good for two years. Worth the peace of mind for a big trip. On the 2018 Navigator WC we also needed consecutive pages for SA, don’t remember the number. But I do know they didn’t use all of them either time. Agree with Gilly, wish countries would be a little more careful with stamping….. yea right, that isn’t going to happen! What I really can’t understand is for a big costly trip(world cruise)you would go with the bare minimum, just setting yourself up for a problem. The cost of a new passport is a drop in the bucket in the cost of a WC. Travel is an adventure and they are having one!
  7. In our 200+ days on Regent in nothing higher than an E cat suite we have almost always had two bottles of our choice liquor waiting in the suite when we board with our choice of mixer. The couple of times this hasn’t happened (once in Dec on the Splendor) the attendant brought us one bottle in time for the sail away and the other was there after breakfast the next morning. Our choice was waiting for us later in Dec on Navigator. Our TA always asks us precruise what we want and sends the request. They have always bought us another bottle when the set up is getting low. If you go thirsty in a Regent ship it is you fault😂
  8. Where was no phone app used on the Regent tours we were on on the Splendor 12/3 -12/20/22 and the Navigator12/22- 1/5/23. There was once a app used sone places but seemed like there were problems…. Mainly guides didn’t like it or not available to them and some passengers complained. It was not used on the 2018 WC tours that we were on either.
  9. My thoughts exactly and on the Navigator nothing is very far from your suite!
  10. Well I don’t know about special, but Ms Teegan has been responding to various people on this board since around Nov / Dec. Though as others have said if you have a serious problem or complaint take it up with Regent first, not social media.JMO
  11. Each person/couple is allowed ONE advance reservation in each speciality restaurant. If you and your friends want to guarantee sharing a table for Four in advance, you must have their booking# or room # (?) to do the booking. And that counts as the allowed advanced reservation for all of you. You may be able to get more nights when you get on board. But it is hard to get more sometimes on the 7-12 day cruises especially if they a mostly full. You can always get a table for 4 in Compass Rose and Sette Mare. But do go early to Sette Mare they usually fill up fast.
  12. I fine it easier for me to do laundry bags before the night turn down. Always put laundry bag on bed before going to dinner and always back next afternoon on the Splendor and the Navigator this past Dec Jan.
  13. Do not know about Voyager but the shower in the Navigator is glass enclosed corner style with a separate full tub . The bath has a single sink with long counter top. The room is good sized and very nice. The Mariner has a wonderful large shower in the shower only baths as it fills the space where the tub shower combo was. The bath is nice sized and also has high end finishes of the period it was built. Nothing wrong or bad about that. The Splendor has two sinks And looks more glitzy modern but all the Regent baths are nice and well equipped with the bells and whistles you expect in a luxury cruise ship. Actually we really prefer the one sink as there is more flat counter surface that we seem to need.
  14. P arcade spelled it out for you. The warmed the climate the more casual.
  15. My pick would always be a cabin with cabins above and below. Check the sticky on cabins in the Mariner and see if either is mentioned. You will have a little more motion with 806 I would think. Do each have a shower only? The tub/shower combo is a killer on the Mariner for us.
  16. I should call Regent and ask about being able to add you friends to your reservation earlier than they can actual book….. we have never done this. But I don’t recall being able to change the reservation once made except to cancel it completely and start over. I know you will be able to do the reservation once it is open for them too.
  17. Sette Mare doesn’t need or take reservations(like Compass Rose). The speciality restaurants menus don’t change, but they may (or not) have a special item for that Evening.
  18. No. The on-line reservation will for two if you pick that option and you will probably be seated at a table for two that night. You do have the option to take pot luck and pick a shared table for your reservation. If you are traveling with another couple or 2, you can get their booking #s and make the reservation for all of you. After you board the ship, you can try for an extra reservation with another couple you want to share with. And there is always the possibility that once on the ship you can change your reservation for 2 to 4 to eat with your new friends. It you will have to check personally with the restaurant. If you have a butler suite he can check for you.
  19. And why not, you have paid for it in the cruise price. We drive home and it is two days m from Miami. Sure is nice to know we have drink makings when we hit the motel and not to have to look for a liquor store🥃🙂
  20. So true ! We ate most every night of our 17 nights on the Splendor at either Chatreuse or Sette Mare… loved the food at those two. Just one night each in CR, Prime7 and Pacific Rim, really crowded and noisy. The Pool Grill was still open for us and they had great grilled pork ribs so we ate outside several nights also. And don’t forget room service for dinner on you balcony with your drinks delivered to you. We had an aft facing cabin so a sunset sail away and private dinner was to good to pass up.
  21. This can work for a tight schedule even if the ship is a bit late. The KEY is to keep your luggage with you the night before, leave with the first group(this is the one that has their luggage and doesn’t need to wait for the crew to off load luggage) AND have a hired car waiting for you at the port pick up. Saves a lot time getting off the ship… we have made this work. Remember the other ships passengers… as least many, will be waiting for luggage… to get off the ship before they an get off and go though US entrance. You will be ahead of most and you will not have to wait for your car.
  22. See my pist above about our week in Kyoto and traveling out from there. Should have copied your post since it was for your information.
  23. That is exactly what we did. Kyoto needs at least an over night. Also use a taxi for a DIY or a local guide for private tours. Read about the sites and pick those that are most interesting to you. We have been to Kyoto twice and Nara once…..not to be missed and you get a Bullet train ride in the bargain! Japan is easy to do without being herded around with 40-50 other people… there is so much to see. See what you want to at your own pace. You are spending a lot of money and time to get there. A good map from the tourist center and google translate on your phone will see you though. Trains have English signage and if you look a little lost someone will stop and help you. The Japanese are very kind and helpful. Frist time we went to Japan we spent a week traveling by train. We stayed in Kyoto and did day trips from there to Nara, Osaka, Himenji (one of a few that was not destroyed), Hiroshima (for the “A” Done and Peace Park and the Hall of Remembrance) and Miyajima Island (for the Tori Gate and dinner at an Okonomamiaki place for a pancake like dish). It is 190 some miles from Kyoto to Hiroshima…-1.5 hours at 129 mph with three stops. We used the bullet train and local trains and just bought tickets when we wanted to travel. We used the subways and taxi to get around in the cities. Pre Covid the JTB provided a ton of information and walking tour maps. We used the Hotel card and had the hotel write the places we wanted to visit in Japanese to be sure we could get where we wanted.
