  1. I didn't notice Turkish pistacchios when I've been in Turkey. I did like their walnuts and dried apricots which we bought from roadside vendors. A walnut wrapped in an apricot was a great travelling snack.
  2. I eat a lot of nuts, mainly Macadamias, pistacchios and cashews, usually from Coles. The macadamias seem to taste better, to me, than those from Aldi or Woolworths.
  3. That was is it! The gannets. Thank you. Next pic. An easy one.
  4. Cape Kidnappers, near Napier. Place of an internationally known cliff top golf course. I recall reading a report of a cruise tour in the vicinity which was excellent but I can't remember the details of why it was. Been there about five times, land and sea.
  5. For me, dinner was always casual, collared, short sleeve shirt with long pants. The only time I have worn a tie on a cruise was for Veterans meet-up when I wore my dad's WW2 regimental tie (New Guinea Air Warning Wireless Company)..
  6. Or you see if anyone on your Roll Call is organizing any interesting private tours. Usually a lot cheaper than HAL tours. There is a link at top left of this page.
  7. Even as an old geezer, if there is a water slide I'll try it. Would like to try the flow rider like on Ovation but it was too crowded so had to settle for the water slides. If I got the opportunity in the future to try a flow rider it would be on a boogie board on which I am proficient, I would take too long getting to my feet on a surfboard these days - had to sell mine. Having said that, I also have a preference for smaller ships but, for me, a greater priority is the itinerary.
  8. It is a common misconception that batteries require rare earth metals. This has come about due to lithium batteries being used in vehicles where compactness and mobility are required. There have been many advances in other types of energy storage. One type of battery is what is known as a solar flow battery using zinc bromine. These two minerals are common, cheap, fire safe (very important) and recyclable and are powering small towns, homes, and mobile phone towers in remote areas. Perhaps they may provide solar energy storage for ships of the future. Who knows? There is an Australian company producing these. https://redflow.com/
  9. That's the answer I wanted. Your turn
  10. Thank you for the NZ connection. Next pic.
  11. We used to build models of battleships when we were kids and knew many of the parts and functions of warships. The Graf Spee and Bismark and the HMS Hood were among the most popular models. It is a range finder from the Graf Spee which was scuttled off S America in WW2. It is in Motevideo. More info for history buffs.
  12. Trying not to scuttle this but it's too late.
  13. Correct. Your turn The answer was right there on the left. It's a great spot for sunsets. A few posts ago there was a request(?) for pretty pictures. Here's another.
  14. No worries. Had to go to a meeting tonight, just got home. Looking for a pic now. Name this lake.
