  1. Sorry to read this , it is one great cruise .
  2. That was indeed a great night on our SB trip. Thanks for reminding us of what used to be and hopefully will be again
  3. Floris, belated happy new year . Let’s hope it’s a year with some travel. Got shot one Friday. Jim
  4. we were in 1024 for Antarctica and it was fantastic. Unbeatable location
  5. Good point Floris, hope all is well with you.
  6. SB cruisers go with SB because they want a quality experience . They pay top dollar and expect certain things. They do not expect the games being played by Carnival on refunds and the moving goalposts involved . Most own 100 to whatever shares to get some OBC , that has worked in the past to buY a few nice bottles that don’t look so good now in the rear view mirror. Uncertainty on covid coupled with uncertainty in how Carnival management creates policy will not lead to SB cruisers rushing back to book. At least this one won’t .
  7. A cloudy sunrise here in North Florida so we decided to have breakfast outside . We are lucky enough to live on the ocean and hearing the wind and waves brought back great memories. We had breakfast In the Colonnade outside from Greenland to Antarctica to the Faroe isles to The Turkish coast . My favorite was the lingonberry Swedish pancakes but there was never a bad morning. We’ve cancelled and probably won’t be back to cruising . Cruising and Seabourn will be back stronger than ever but I think we will stay off the high seas .
  8. We cancelled our 9/25 Hawaii Tahiti trip yesterday . We shall see about 21
  9. Made for Spain has terrific people . Sadly there will be plenty available this year .
  10. Floris , we were in the same wing by the Observation Lounge . Helen and I had dinner a few times with you and shared some interesting conversations. I did not take pictures of the seal attack but have good ones of the Orcas having a lunch of Minka whale . That was our last SB trip , still looking for the right itinerary.
  11. Great stop, two years ago we saw a seal take a penguin , which sent the remainder in the water scattering everywhere . It’s fun reading your stuff and enjoy the trip North to the mainland which can be !!
  12. Thank you , helpful info . We are taking or first NCL trip in sept on the Jewel in a forward Haven suite. After 7 Seabourne trips we liked this itinerary and tho it’s a larger ship and drink packages as opposed to all included we are looking forward to something different .
  13. Good job , we paid top dollar 2 years ago and now it’s bargain time on a lot of SB and other top shelf lines . Seems like plenty of supply at all parts of the price spectrum. Good for cruisers .
  14. we did it on our own after SB in Antarctica. We stayed at the Sheraton in the parkand it was great . We ran into fellow cruisers who did the SB post trip that was in late jan 2018 . any good TA can set this up and you'll save $$
  15. You missed my point , too much capacity , Encore not as much fun as Sojourn. Ergo discounts. That said SB still the best . On Carnival price. , I wasn’t smart enough to buy in the 30s like most?
  16. The stock was down sharply this week based on weak guidance. Sadly the stock ownership credit won't make up for the drop. Based on the near daily ,book soon and save emails we get from SB it seems like the demand supply point for luxury cruises has been met? Like real estate developers, if they can get financed they will build, same seems to go for cruise ships? When we went to Antarctica in 2017 it was fully booked early, now there are promotions. Good for travelers ?!
  17. le Reve , great small hotel in a nice neighborhood with easy walks to restaurants.
  18. Luckily we did the 4 day NCL in May . Had thought long and hard about the SB round trip this fall but the dates didn’t work. If Raul would really retire maybe SB can make the trip next year .
  19. We were on the sun 4 day to cubs May 6 in a mini aft . Two weeks before that I noticed prices on the suites in the Front were priced about the same as I paid . I called NCL and asked , they moved us at no cost and we kept the perks . The suite was right under the bridge and came with concierge benefits etc . Our first trip ever with NCL. never hurts to ask
  20. This topic seems a mess . We had bid $430 to upgrade to a suite from a mini aft suite on the Sun . I noticed there were suites available for basically the same price we paid , I called and was switched at no cost and no loss of perks . We have zero clout with NCL as this is the first time using them . I’m glad I called . Sailing back to port Canaveral as I’m writing this
  21. This may be of interest. We were in an aft mini suite on a 4 day trip on the Sun . I had bid $475 for a suite upgrade which was near the top of poor. I took a look at the web site yesterday and found they had suites for the same price as our aft mini . I called NCL and said can I change , they did it at no cost . I then canceled my bid , we sail on May 6 so I’m lucky they had not taken the bid . Saved $950 and got the upgrade.
