  1. Most of the complaints from people who book gty cabins are location and how can I change my cabin. Both can easily be avoided.
  2. There's a simple way around getting a cabin you don't want. We have always selected our cabin so it's never a surprise. We wouldn't be happy with an aft balcony because when we've been in the aft of a ship that has a lot of motion, it really makes me feel it more. I know gty is normally cheaper than selecting your own, but is a few hundred dollars worth more than comfort or location? There are several posts a week by people who don't like where their gty cabin is. GTY is how Royal gets cabins booked that normally might go unsold. They're not doing it to save cruisers money, they're doing it to make money on cabins that might not sell otherwise.
  3. He didn't update it until right before I did after several people questioned it. His original post didn't mention it. I have seen suites as bingo prizes a few times. I'm just the friggin messenger.
  4. There absolutely is a reason. Why else would they spend money to have new signs made?
  5. They already don't have them everyday. DH would go look for them and bring back a plate to keep in our room (didn't last long). It got to be a running joke with friends onboard. Whoever saw them would report back as to whether they were in the WJ or Park Cafe.
  6. He says the Hotel Director met them at the Top Tier and found out they had just gotten married the day before and he gave them the CLS. We had a Hotel Director give us a bottle of wine for our 41st anniversary one time after we met him in the DL. 🙂 He also thinks everyone just likes to complain. Of course, everyone who says the food has slipped just likes to complain lol.
  7. Well, the pictures they posted were from 150 but they still stated everything had been "perfect". Fabulous was my wording, but they were basically bashing anyone who had said anything negative or said the quality has gone downhill.
  8. There is someone on FB stating they were given a free/complimentary upgrade from an ocean view to a crown loft suite. Just curious as I'm pretty confident since they went to Royal UP, they aren't giving free upgrades anymore. Has anyone heard of this happening lately? The post is also about how fabulous the food is as it's on the Royal Caribbean Dining page. Supposedly this was their honeymoon on Harmony.
  9. None of those will make a real difference especially on cruises with a lot of higher tiers such as unique cruises, longer ones, etc. There are always very few under 18's in the lounge even when families travel a lot. We've done Spring Break cruises where 1/3 of the passengers are under 18 and there are almost no kids in during HH. In fact, the last two years we've done SB cruises and have not seen any kids in the DL except a couple of times outside of HH. And, the number impacted by adjusting points for death, divorce, etc is also very small. In most cases, spouses have the same points and most of the rest are within a few.
  10. They're charging them because those are people that chose to go there or live there. People who are assigned there for jobs by the Gov will have theirs paid for by the Gov.
  11. Captains have very little tolerance for bad behavior and kick whole families off for a variety of reasons.
  12. They assume the individual is onboard unless there's evidence to the contrary. Either someone saw something or a camera did. They can't stop every time someone doesn't show up to meet family, friends, etc.
  13. Yep, we haven't had one on any of our Bermuda cruises. We love to go and listen to the inane questions one or two invariably ask. There's always one or two lol.
  14. Jewel "birds" are recorded lol. We were on last Nov and enjoyed listening to them. My issue is with those that think they are more important than anyone else and have the need to be loud.
  15. Not expecting CL. Last time they expanded DL into Vortex with some seats for Pinns only. I just want a friggin snack since we have late dining lol. Are you on our cruise?
  16. We never use the machine in the lounge. We use one of our 5 vouchers and get coffee at Cafe Lattetudes every morning. When we were on Jewel last fall to the Caribbean, there was a line every morning for the coffee in the lounge.
  17. We board Jewel on Friday so we'll see what happens. This itinerary usually has a lot more experienced cruisers. We'll see what they end up doing. We're traveling with friends who are Pinns and we are D+ and on Jewel the DL and CL are both up in the VCL so views are good and it's usually pretty busy. We're doing the b2b CL to Quebec City, QC to CL. 20 nights total.
  18. The ban is during HH, not the rest of the day. It's during peak usage time.
  19. We've been on cruise where the concierge has gone around with a list and checked off names/cabin numbers for access. Everything I've read so far from those actually onboard is that the info says it'll depend on numbers. We use it, especially on smaller ships as there just aren't the places to get snacks in the later afternoon since we do late dining.
  20. Tipping him ahead of time had nothing to do with it. I've seen several reports of the stewards coming in simply to either take down or make up the bed in addition to regular timed service. We never hand them a tip at the beginning of a cruise and have never had anything but superior service and requests taken care of quickly.
  21. She delayed leaving the area due to the weather.
  22. I've seen multiple reports that show the bags aren't exactly where they show up as being. The Air Tags aren't always 100% accurate. They're close but not always exact. So, while they appeared to be ashore, they were obviously onboard but couldn't be pinpointed. Possibly some type of connection interruption.
  23. Columbus Day is usually just one day everywhere around here. Jersey Week is what we were talking about for early Nov. We've experienced Disney during Jersey Week several times.
