  1. Did you then tell Carnival you were exposed on their pre-boarding health assessment form?
  2. John Heald reported on Facebook that Chef's Table is back but no word yet on Cucina. It might be a cutback but it's free during lunch and paid during supper. They left the free lunch portion and cut the paid supper portion. So I don't see how it's a cutback since they're giving up revenue. But go off.
  3. One would have to lie to one or the other - either the insurance company to get the test free, or lie to Carnival and say they don't have symptoms on their health assessment form to get on the ship. I'm not really OK with the lie and would prefer the testing just goes away.
  4. On board spend is just as, if not more important I'd say. Their capacity is higher but they apparently now have too much tonnage, and Carnival doesn't have enough.
  5. I think Costa may be one of those low occupancy lines, and look how many ships CCL is taking from them.
  6. Of all the companies I am comfortable lying to, my health insurance ranks pretty low. This testing song and dance needs to end.
  7. You are forgetting about Costa, Cunard, Princess, all the other lines Carnival owns. CCL might be sailing full - but those other lines are not.
  8. We will know when you know. Carnival's COVID policies page is regularly updated with the latest information. https://www.carnival.com/Legal/covid-19-legal-notices/covid-19-guest-protocols?icid=advisory_cruisehealth_040122
  9. There will be a new variant either coming, here, or on it's way out, for the rest of our lives.
  10. I expected testing to be gone by the end of this month. Things are moving a little slower than I thought. I don't think it's going to last much longer in any case.
  11. That is a good point, Carnival's product is horribly diluted right now compared to even just before COVID.
  12. If Lowe's went out of business because Home Depot out pizza'ed the hut so to speak, sure. But I don't see that as what's happening here. I'd see Carnival's failure as a bellwether for the pleasure cruise industry at large.
  13. I would do the Horizon since you've never been to any of those stops at all.
  14. I don't think they're doing the galley tour right now but if I am recalling properly when I did Chef's Table, closed-toe shoes were required in the galley.
  15. I can't fathom how they're still losing to much even while every ship is sailing full. But then I realize there is a lot more to Carnival Corp than just CCL in the US.
  16. If you're in the room watching TV then you're not at a bar drinking, in the casino gambling, etc. So that explains why there ain't much on the TV.
  17. How did they get through COVID so much easier than Carnival? Simply because they had fewer ships and thus lower fixed costs?
  18. If Carnival Corp dies then I don't see how any cruise line survives.
  19. Is CCL (the cruise line) profitable? Or is it still losing money as well? I don't know if they specified in their report.
  20. The Alaska sailings have been very attractively priced this year. Sadly like others, I just couldn't make it work to get to the left coast this year.
  21. Hot tea (I believe the available varieties are Lipton black and green teas), regular and decaf coffee, hot chocolate, iced tea and lemonade are all available for free. On Lido, in the dining room, and via room service. And yes if you bring on your own favorite tea bags you can get hot water from any of those places to brew your own tea.
  22. This is how it worked for my wife and I on our last cruise last month as well. In our case we didn't have to take a copy of the offer to the host, it was applied automatically for both of us. But it never hurts to bring a copy of the offer just in case.
  23. Yeah Carnival really needs to nip this in the bud.
  24. Buy on the way up, not the way down...
  25. They make big money on the photos on elegant night. Like smoking in the casino, elegant nights will be around for a while yet.
