  1. We used Viator. We have a large van with 19 of us. Couldn’t be happier. The artic one and Reykjavík excursions use the large tour buses.
  2. Day 2 - Golden Circle Tour Our first stop on the golden circle tour is where the continental divide is along with the largest lake in Iceland. Absolutely stunning. We booked this through viator. Our guide is very Icelandic. I meant to add yesterday… I love how many electric vehicles and plug in hybrids there are in Reykjavik I just bought myself a plug in hybrid and love it. On the negative, there is no temperature restriction on the sinks in public restrooms. I’ve scolded myself each time. I haven’t learned.
  3. We did. It was very simple. The airport is extremely small and easy to navigate. The busses were right outside. They do have a counter area to purchase on the spot.
  4. Hey everyone! We just arrived in Reykjavik this morning for our upcoming Prima sailing. I’m going to do my best to try and document this trip daily. This trip was booked about 800 days ago (the countdown has been agonizing). There will be a total of 7 of us in our 40’s and 50’s. I’ll be writing from the perspective of myself and my partner. We have a spa balcony booked and chose the airfare through NCL from Philadelphia. we also did the 2 day deviation at the front end of the trip and a 1 day deviation at the back end. I hope to make this an enjoyable read as I love reading other reviews while researching. Arriving flight: We had a 6:55 pm fight from Philadelphia to Boston on Jet Blue. Flight had a brief delay of less than an hour and arrived in Boston with plenty of time to spare for our 11:35 connection. We left Boston on time to Reykjavik on Iceland Air. First time using Iceland Air and absolutely loved the plane, the staff, etc. We arrived about 20 min. early at 8:15 am. It was just really difficult trying to catch some sleep. Day 1 Reykjavik, Iceland Customs was a breeze and we used Flybus for our route to Hotel Borg. The connection was very smooth. Bus was packed, but a breeze. Our connecting bus arrived minutes after we were dropped off at the terminal. We dropped our bags off at the Hotel Borg and explored. I had visions of the city being much busier and bigger from my research. Almost felt like a Quebec City vibe. Love it. So quaint. We got breakfast at the Laudromat cafe and checked out the church and then decided to head back to wait for our room to be ready. Took a much needed shower and brushed my damn teeth!y body needed both after travel and walking around. On recommendation from some locals, we checked out the Perclan museum. Pretty cool I for about the geology of Iceland. They had a really awesome man made ice cave. The observation lounge really gave gorgeous view of the area. Tomorrow we have an all day Golden Circle tour.
  5. Thank you for this review!!! We fly out to Reykjavik tonight for our cruise sailing Thursday.
  6. Alaska was just stunning.. The next morning after leaving Seattle, it was a beauty and silence I have never experienced before. It just gets better and better throughout the sailing. Next week is Iceland and Norway. My two bucket list destinations besides Antartica.Cannot wait to see if they top Alaska.
  7. Haven definitely was an option, but I still don’t want to pay what they have as the minimum bid.
  8. I keep getting the email to bid for our august 17 proms cruise. We have the spa balcony. Is a club balcony room even an upgrade? We would also lose the convenience of having the spa right there.
  9. I don’t think this project at the port is funded by NCL. Not sure how they can be blamed??
  10. I don't dress the part, but I love the music and would love to see one of the bands playing at sea. I've seen some live videos from bands on ships and they usually close off some of the deck area for the live shows. If I was looking for a vacation, I wouldn't really want to be on bothered with it all.
  11. We are sailing on the prima beginning the 17th and got the notification too. I doubt the prima will be sailing there this year.
  12. With the addition of the thermal spa, I will definitely be looking at sailings for the Joy. While taking away from the OL, I think the overall changes will be an improvement for the ship.
  13. Thank you for taking the time to review this ship and itinerary. Congrats on the Price ja right winning! Cannot wait for this ad I’m a huge fan. Thanks for the reassurance despite the negative reviews that have been creating such a fuss. My only concern is with Isjafjord and Geiranger. I really don’t want to miss them. 31 days and counting!
  14. We are doing this excursion next month and were just discussing food options. Does the tour provide opportunities to grab lunch or snacks?
  15. We sail in 33 days. I will make sure we take out the entire dock.
  16. I am glad to hear your review as I have just about a month until sailing. Friends of ours just got off the sailing earlier this month and had a fabulous time.
  17. We have a sailing on the NCL Prima next month from Iceland, but looking to do a gay cruise with friends for next year. I hope Atlantis will announce a Med cruise for next summer.
  18. Crap! We have our excursion booked with artic adventures.
  19. The current cruise had the port canceled. My friend is on this sailing. We sail August 17, so really hoping we get to visit this port. Really looking forward to our waterfall excursion.
  20. I’m conflicted, just looked on the roll call for this cruise and it looks like the last few posts were positive. Hopefully our august cruise will be positive. The observation lounge is something I’m looking forward to, but we have thermal spa passes and that’s my sanctuary. this itinerary has a lot of port time, so who knows what the experience will be like.
  21. Our friends are on todays sailing on prima and heard about skipping the port. Our sailing is august 17, so I’m really hoping we get to this port stop.
