  1. I guess that holds true for cancelled excursions as well - no refund, although we know that we are paying for excursions as part of the cost. Do small group tours that we pay extra for, get refunded? And if so, is it timely enough to be able to reuse the shipboard credits that we used to pay for them?
  2. It is interesting that Regent is attracting so many new people even with their high cost of cruising. I would guess that this is more true on shorter itineraries since the total cost is a little more palatable.
  3. By booking another cruise so close to the sail date you will will probably have very limited choices for specialty restaurant dinner reservations, shore excursions and flight options if any of those are important to you.
  4. Focus on your family and make the best of the onboard experience. The time to reflect is after the cruise is done. Again, if you aren’t satisfied about something, say something to the Regent team on board. It’s too late to fix something after you get off the ship.
  5. Me too. It is after all an opinion and we all have them. Just provide facts & details to back up your comments and please nothing vulgar. Also, if you aren’t happy with something, say something immediately to Regent management on the ship. They are good at fixing issues especially while on the ship. And lastly, buckle up because the Regent “can do nothing wrong” folks will surely fire back at you. It’s OK, just take all comments and opinions with a grain of salt, even the one’s that agree with you. I hope things change for you in the better for the rest of your cruise.
  6. Don’t know that. I just asked our TA to get us the quote. I let her do the work. I would assume that Regent would do a quote for you.
  7. We got our Regent insurance quote through our TA. It took about 5 seconds to review and reject.
  8. I wouldn’t even bother. They are not competitive with the several alternatives mentioned in this post.
  9. It depends on how much bandwidth Regent purchases. If they keep the same amount of bandwidth as they have today it won’t make much of a difference if a bunch of people are pounding the internet. So I would say we will have to wait for the actual install before we can make a call on performance.
  10. Shop around and make sure you compare apples to apples coverage. There are many viable options. Using Regent’s insurance will cost you a lot more and if there is an insurance claim against Regent, i would think there might be an opportunity for a conflict of interest.
  11. Tripinsurancestore dot com. Also check your credit card company because some do provide travel insurance benefits. My card provided $20K
  12. Air fares have definitely gone through the roof and I understand that part is out of Regent’s control. For my upcoming cruise I chose to stay with Regent business class air because when I priced the exact same air itinerary that they provided it represented approximately 40% of the total cruise cost. Regent’s offer of a $2,500 credit for the air represented roughly 15% of the total cost. They must get a heck of a discount or they aren’t giving us credit for their total air cost. I could have found a less expensive business class route but I wanted to compare apples to apples. Fortunately, I have only 1 stop on the outbound flight (no direct flights were available from Austin to Copenhagen) and a direct flight home from London so I am happy with the arrangements.
  13. Maybe Mike from Regent can give us some insight into how Regent manages their 3rd party providers, how they measure quality from these providers and how they resolve issues related to these 3rd party vendors.
  14. True but that shouldn’t relieve Regent from providing oversight and quality control. If they aren’t doing so and issues like this keep resurfacing, it will hurt their brand. I assume they realize this and are taking an active approach to resolving these types of issues but we never hear from them when these types of things occur.
  15. Hopefully she will. To go into a situation like that with probably the most frequent and loyal Regent customers and to not be prepared says a lot about her leadership and understanding of her customers. I guess she was there to promote the new ship and that’s not what the clientele were there to hear.
  16. That’s not the Regent I remember. They used to be so customer service conscious. It seems the non ship services have suffered the most from what I read on these boards.
  17. Agree Wendy. This next Regent cruise could be my last. It took me a while to pull the trigger on this upcoming cruise but it’s an area where I thought cruising would be the best option. I also agree with the hope that Regent would reduce the price and make included excursions optional. Air travel is also ridiculously priced. The reality is that the cruise industry needs to make more revenue because of the increased expenses as a result of massive borrowing during COVID with no revenue during those 2 years. That doesn’t bode well for anything but more price increases. Maybe Regent will be back to just catering to the wealthy.
  18. We start in Copenhagen and our first UK port is Edinburgh so I assume we will get to meet the Border Force.
  19. We will be traveling to the British Isles in September and Invergordon is one of our stops. Is it common for the UK Border Force to conduct immigration inspections at different ports or was this a random inspection?
  20. I am not sure what to expect at the arriving airport, in our case Copenhagen. I would assume that someone holding a Regent sign will greet us once we have cleared immigration, customs and collected our luggage. Is it common to get on a bus and wait around for other Regent travelers to arrive, or is it more of a smaller van that picks you up? Can someone please explain the process and how long it usually takes (I’m sure it depends)? We are staying at an included Regent hotel.
  21. I know you have to wait until you are on the ship to get any extra nights in the specialty restaurants but can you make those extra reservations the day you get on the ship or do you have to wait until after your original visit to a specialty restaurant to get another reservation?
  22. Our first cruise, and it was on a Regent, was with our 2 sons that just started college. It was in Alaska and we did wonderful private and semi private tours that I researched and booked on our my own. Regent wasn’t all inclusive back in those days. As great as the tours were, the time we spent at dinner, just sitting around and talking, was one of the most memorable experiences we will ever have. I know that my boys were a little older than yours but I am sure you will have those memorable experiences as well. Alaska is a port intensive cruise so take advantage of choosing active excursions and with spending quality time with your family. Times goes by fast. Memories will stay with you forever.
