  1. Once again, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about people that know going in that they will not do the cruise and still book it because it's a dollar. I have serious doubts if people had to put down $1000 for each one that they'd do that.
  2. I've noticed WAY bigger differences than that just as the other poster mentioned. If it was $10 no one would complain.
  3. While it's pretty rare that I use a straw wouldn't it have made a 1000X more sense to tell the person about the straw? It likely would have shut the conversation down quickly. Agree with your other comment. The ignore function on cruise critic is a wonderful thing. Unfortunately, when someone quotes them you have to see it.
  4. No, that's not really what I mean. I'm never quite sure it will happen for me either because of various things. I'm speaking of people that book a number of cruises knowing that they'll maybe do 2 or none.
  5. You have more faith than I do. It would be interesting to see how many cruises are actually kept. They could potentially block out people that are actually serious.
  6. Actually it was $50 in the very beginning and they wanted to charge solo cruisers double. That was short lived thankfully because I assume no one was biting.
  7. It sure is. I bought it for my last cruise on a non pinnacle ship.
  8. I’ve stayed in those cabins and I swear I got woken up around 6:30 by them poking around. Ships make noise. They creak too.
  9. Someone must have started drinking early to come up with that number. I know our dollar is worth squat but that’s just not right.
  10. If you got it for $20 you were very lucky. You are the first person I’ve heard of that got that deal.
  11. And that would be a valid argument if they weren’t handing out cabins for free like candy. You can say this will generate extra income. I’ve heard many people complain that they still have to pay port fees. I think that a pretty safe bet hal won’t be rolling in dough from that exercise.
  12. Yes, then hal can have nothing on its ships besides the freebie takers, and cheerleaders. That’s a great way to improve a product. That will work. It should be no skin off hal if they sell an h guarantee cabin or if you pick an h cabin. Until recently that’s the way it was. It’s nothing like airlines. If you have to pay for an aisle seat instead of sitting in the middle I have no qualms about that because there is value. If there is value, that is the key difference.
  13. I’m sure the op realizes that 🙄. Why does this always have to be the response when someone doesn’t like something?
  14. It’s $25 for cruises 13 days in or less, or $15 otherwise. Here is info about it https://www.hollandamerica.com/content/dam/hal/inventory-assets/activity-types/dining/club-orange/Club_Orange_Benefits.pdf
  15. Well at least it’s not jammies and slippers like it was in club orange 🙄.
  16. This is definitely new-ish. I know it’s been a long held belief on the boards that guarantees are cheaper. I’ve booked many guarantees in my time but as you noted I was always about to pick the same category for the same price. That has all changed lately.
  17. I understand that some people just use their cabin to sleep in. The shows have zero interest to me and I’m not interested in going to crowded bars. While I spend very little time in my cabin during the day I’m generally in there after dinner.
  18. I have doubts about it being a mistake. I would contact hal to see if you can move it up if you are not comfortable with the time. On my last cruise I had a Neptune suite and I’m a five star. I was pretty far down the list in boarding times. Usually I’m in the first group. I booked late so I assumed that was the reason.
  19. Why not buy future cruise deposits when you are on the ship? You don’t need to worry about putting down a large credit then and those dollar deals become of very little value.
  20. If you look at any of the large online cruise sellers it’s very, very easy to find “bargains”. I’ve never taken a ta but those ones seem to always be bargains.
  21. The only people that know how much inventory is left is hal. Most cruises will fall as gets closer to final. It doesn't take much knowledge to figure that out.
  22. Yes, it seems to be what’s going on with hal lately. It didn’t used to be that way to this extent.
  23. Exactly. Its like airfare, a stay in an overnight hotel and tax don't exist. If you live at the port city that's a different story. Also, not everyone is retired and has endless amount of time to travel.
  24. Yes, of course if you don’t have a fcd it makes sense. I just hope people aren’t booking multiple cruises that they have no intention of going on. Not speaking of you.
