  1. If they are staying in your cabin, then yes they can join you. Otherwise they are not Platinum and should board with their respective group.
  2. You book the Sanctuary at the Sanctuary. Good luck, I have not been successful so far.
  3. We docked there 2 weeks ago with a 915 meet time for our tour with Chilkoot. You will not get priority tendering for an independent excursion. We went to get tender tickets in the Photo Gallery area about 815am and we were on a tender by 830. Its a really short 5-10 minute ride so we were earlier than needed. Not enough time to walk anywhere so we just found somewhere to sit and waited for our tour.
  4. Yep, had this happen on Royal a few weeks ago and the delivery staff said the same. First order at noon said delivered but never arrived. Reordered at 2pm, still being processed at 4pm. Gave up and went to Alfredos for pizza. Second order was delivered to Alfredos at 4:15pm! Explained our experience to the delivery staff. They sent us Chocolate Covered Strawberries later that night as an apology, which was a nice gesture.
  5. Wow. This must be a mess for those with excursions booked outside of Princess.
  6. Interesting observation on the dress code. I have only done US based cruises, but I have always read the European cruises leaned towards a more formal dress. Good to know, as we are looking to book a Northern Europe cruise and are considering cruise lines. Love Enchanted, btw, have sailed on her twice.
  7. This just might be my favorite Cruise Critic thread ever! I hope your parents have a wonderful time and I do hope you are able to cruise as a family someday in the future.
  8. It had always been that way for me also, most recently on Enchanted Dec 2022. Then I sailed a few weeks ago on Royal and to my surprise, I discovered the full weeks menus were available. Perhaps it's an app update or it's ship dependent, who knows. But most definitely I could click on each day and see different menus. One glitch, if you are not booked in the dining room which serves breakfast/lunch on a given day, you cant see the breakfast/lunch menu. Poor app design for sure.
  9. This was pre-Covid but when we were there Princess had a tour that went to Muir Woods and then made a stop in Sausalito before returning. We were able to be dropped off at Fishermans Wharf after the tour and walk around.
  10. Yeah your post is a little confusing. If you have not yet booked but want to protect yourself in the event of a last minute cancellation, be sure to purchase insurance, probably with CFAR (cancel for any reason) coverage. Insurance is a good idea anyway (a necessity imho) but I dont always get CFAR. I figure if cancelling last minute it will likely be for an already covered reason. But CFAR gives you more flexibility. Read the insurance coverage closely as policies differ.
  11. Just sailed on Royal but sorry, no menus. Nobody can really advise you which nights to do what. If it's dependent on the menu being served, we dont know what you do or do not like. When will you have late excursions, which events do you want to be sure to not miss, etc. I would personally book specialty dining on a formal night, others would not miss formal night for anything.
  12. Very true. I am sure the helicoptor ride and landing on the glacier would be amazing! My daughter was interested in this, and I looked into it but truly it was outside of our budget. So, our compromise was the mushers camp, which she really did enjoy.
  13. I hope you have tried the almond croissant, they are the best! I am at IC every morning, early, for coffee, almond croissant, and fruit or yogurt. Rarely do I go to the buffet for breakfast.
  14. @HlitnerSlightly off topic but I recently tried Lavazza for the first time at home like it better than my previous favorite. Its expensive at my local grocery store. Do you order directly from Lavazza?
  15. Rarely did the 'food' line take long. I would wait and order coffee, then get my food, and usually by then the coffee drinks were ready. Also learned I can get a tray for multiple drink/food items, in the past I have tried to make do with the cardboard drink containers. Worked for me, YMMV.
  16. Yeah, but if we want food from IC to go with the coffee, we cant do that with the app. Figure if I am going to go anyway to get food I will just wait for the coffee. We have ordered coffee to the room via the app.
  17. Interestingly, yes. and it wasnt really organized that way as such, but it was just how it was working. I am a pretty regular IC visitor and these were the smoothest lines I have seen at an IC in the morning, for whatever reason. And I had expected being in Alaska's colder weather there would be more folks there.
  18. Interestingly, I found the lines to be much shorter on Royal in Alaska last week than the lines on other ships over the last few years. This was my first cruise since the coffee pkg was discontinued, wondering if that had any impact. Royal was also good about having separate lines for food and coffee.
  19. Of course embarkation is dependent on a smooth disembarkation of the previous cruise passengers, so no telling what can happen from week to week! My experience boarding on 5/13 was quite smooth. We arrived at the terminal around 1030am, taking an Uber from the hotel we were in the night before. Lines were short, we were on board by 11am. It was one of my easiest embarkations ever. However based on posts here it did not go quite as well for the previous cruise.
  20. I have sailed on Enchanted twice in the Carribean, which is comparable in ship size to Discovery. I would love to sail solo on it, but I would want a balcony to escape from all of the people at times if needed. You will usually be able to find single lounger, but how easy on a sea day depends on how particular you are on location. Pool deck area will be pretty busy on a warm weather cruise unless its a port day. Retreat area is nice, and adults only. The rest of the ship.....you should be able to find somewhere to sit and something to do. I didnt notice lines too much. I would watch your timing and avoid holidays and times when kids are out of school. I am watching for deals later this year to hopefully take my first solo cruise.
  21. Or a less expensive option is to visit a musher camp that requires only a bus ride an not a helicoptor. We did this with a Princess excursion in Juneau and my daughter loved it. We were able to pet and take pictures with the older dogs and hold week-old puppies.
  22. We got there pretty early. We had already checked in online for our flight on American. Walked up to a kiosk to get bag tags and then to baggage drop off, no line. TSA Pre-check line was 10-15 min. Then we went straight to our gate, found a seat, and hung out, taking turns to walk, get a snack, etc. It got pretty full as the morning progressed. I believe walk-off made all the difference as we seemed to be able to beat the crowds. There were 2 ships disembarking at Pier 91 and an NCL ship (maybe Bliss) at the other Pier. I would far rather be 3 hours early than 3 minutes late. Which is what I witnessed at an adjacent gate when a couple arrived just minutes after the gate closed and they tried to negotiate getting the doors re-opened. They were unsuccessful.
  23. Looks like the captan is chatting with a not so happy passenger!
  24. We had robes waiting in our room last week. If you dont find one on arrival, request it from your room steward. You can get the flannel/fleece MUTS blankets at the towel area on Lido deck and take them to your room for sitting outside, or even to use on the bed as my daughter did (she tends to get cold at night).
