Is MSC still charging extra for additional main courses in MDR out of US ports? We were on World Europa in the Med couple weeks ago. We were able to get as many entrees as we wished at no additional charge.

The ship has some flaws that contributes to crowding. In general, it's just too big with too many people for us. I know I'm comfortable up to the Seaside-class size. The World-class is a size to far.

Just got off the World Europa... I'd jump on a smaller ship any time!

2022's promos in general were more generous than 2023's. After Q1 of 2023 the promos were usually $25 deposit + special fares, sometimes with free air included for sailing departing in 3 to 4 months. Bookings appear to be up ($25 deposits anyone?) and Viking just doesn't feel the need to provide as many carrots as they did last year to drive bookings.

In August on Seaside, we were booked in Fantastica and they gave us My Choice Dining. Something MSC started experimenting on the US short cruises for small(er) parties. Just go to your assign MDR during dinner service and they would seat you. Our longest wait was around 5 minutes on the 1st night. The remainder 2 nights we were seated in 1 to 2 minutes. Hopefully MSC is still doing this on your cruise.

I stand corrected on the airfare. And this is not in basic econ. 1 checked bag included. Book the cruise! For reference, our flights to Milan on similar dates (11/17 dep, 11/27 return) costs $1100 USD per person.

US site is at $229pp + grats + port taxes & fees. MSC probably figures very few Europeans are going to fly to US for a repositioning cruising to the Antilles. $$$$ for air fare.

Try curbside check-in/baggage drop. They are operated by a 3rd party, even though the counters have airlines' logos on them. We had dropped off baggage with curbside counters hours before the 4-hour threshold with at least 2 different airlines, and one of those was at FLL. The curbside people will gladly take them.

@Lemondrops I don't think are many, if any, travel agents or agencies who are willing to touch FF miles/points redemptions. That aside, disregarding the carriers' rules & policies may end up costing more money. It's in our best interest to have at least a rudimentary understanding of them.

Don't think so. Tour operators want tourists to come back. They are not going to take a bus load of tourists to rob them. That's a sure way to turn away all US tourists going to that country, not to mention getting our military-industrial complex involved.

That's a correct response from Viking. You have control to change your flights and pay for upgrade through Viking Air, as they are the booking agency. Viking would not have any control over upgrading with FF miles, since that's controlled by the airlines. Ran into a similar situation at work. One traveler booked flights to India on Delta through our TMC (travel management company, corporate speak for travel agency). He then wanted to upgrade his booking to business class using his SkyMiles. Delta upgraded the transatlantic part but wouldn't let him upgrade the 2nd segment (AMS-Delhi) because it was on KLM. He blamed the TMC for making a mistake. There was nothing done incorrectly by the TMC. If he had wanted to upgrade to biz class and have the company pay for it, that can be done by the TMC (and our policy allows biz class on 7+ hours flights).
