Did you pay with your credit card? You can always file a dispute with the credit card company if MSC is playing hardball. The T&Cs are on your side and I don't see how you will not be getting the full amount back.

Nov 23 on WE vs Aug 23 on Seaside. WE won the food battle. It was just simply better. Maybe because it was a short cruise, Seaside's MDR was below average.

Nov 2022, included tour. We left the group when the tour stopped at a gift shop across from Sagrada Familia. We informed the guide that we'd leaving the group and he made some notes. That was it. No fuss given. The tour was scheduled to return to the ship after the gift shop by way of Casa Batllo (not sure if it was a stop, or just a drive-by). Nov 2023, different cruise line and we did Barcelona on our own. Took the port shuttle to World Trade Center. 1st stop was Parc Guell. We took the subway green line from Drassanes station to Lesseps, then hopped on bus 24 to the "top" of Parc Guell. Total time on subway & bus, about 30 minutes. After existing Parc Guell from its lower main entrance, we took bus 116 back to Lesseps. Next stop - Sagrada Familia. Took subway green line to Diagonal station, transfer to blue line and get off at Sagrada Familia stop. Exits from the subway are located on the same block as Sagrada Familia. After Sagrada Familia, we took the blue line back to Diagonal then green line to Liceu. This put us right by Mercado Boqueria and Gothic Quarters on the other side. After spend some time in Gothic Quarters, we walked back to World Trade Center for the port shuttle back to the ship.

My last YC cruise in the Med was in 2019, so that experience may no longer hold true. My last non-YC cruise with MSC was in Nov 2023 on the World Europa. I've found cruises out of US ports and on US cruise lines, the crew tend to chat up the passengers in hopes for a larger tip. We are introverts. We actually prefer the service on the Med cruise over the Caribbean & Bahamas cruises. They would leave us be. Or perhaps there weren't enough crew on World Europa so they have to hurry to the next passengers waiting to be served. Hmm...

Just booked and used FV324 (had to chat with a rep; website says invalid promo code), then asked for 6 months PIF. Got both! Edit: Now my 2025 booking has a PIF date that's 5 months later than my 2026 booking. LMAO!

Wrong. Viking will refund your money paid as long as you cancel at least 120 days prior to sailing date. They only charge $100 cancellation fee per person at that time frame. Come to think about it, that's lower than MSC's YC cancellation fee which is the deposit of $398. Now, back to MSC. This loophole used to work, and I was able to utilize it once in 2022. Change your current YC booking to another sailing, but book a non-YC cabin. Once that's confirmed, wait a few days then cancel the new booking. I was refunded my $398 deposit, originally on a YC booking, in a few weeks. YMMV. Good luck!

I'm going to pose a different question: Is Premium Economy worth it from Iceland to MCO? PE is usually on long-haul widebodies(747, 767, 777, 787, A330, A350, A380, etc). From Iceland to YYZ, YYZ-EWR, then EWR-MCO all flights are most likely to be on narrow bodies (737, 757, A220, A320, A321, etc). As far as I know, United, Air Canada and Icelandair don't have true PE seats on their narrow bodies. Paying PE fares gets you econ+ on narrow bodies, which means same econ seats but with extra leg room. At least for me, for I'm wide and not tall, those seats don't make sense. I'll gladly pay PE for TP or TA flights on a widebody for the extra width and more recline of the seats. With that in mind, is cancelling PE and booking econ really a negative?

I feel the bigger the ship, the more valuable YC becomes. We had our worst cruise experience ever on the World Europa due to crowding. I can't help but wonder if we would have had a much better experience if we were in YC. At least for us, we didn't appreciate the YC private areas as much as we should have prior to the World Europa cruise. Going on the Euribia in 3 months and we are in Aurea again. We'll see if the experience is tied to YC, or tied to the class of the ship. I'm leaning towards the latter.

Make sure to book the Diamond meal as soon as you board. Often times you'll find dinner time slots are fully booked or with limited availability. We've elected for lunches on our last 2 cruises. One lunch was on the 2nd day at Ocean Cay. We had the whole place to ourselves. Very enjoyable.

Hmm... People are different. Cruises are different, even from the same cruise lines. I had given 2 5-star reviews and a 2-star review for MSC. I had also given a 5-star review and a 2-star review for Viking Ocean. Cruises are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you are gonna get.
