  1. I know I will not be able to leave the ship in San Diego with fruit or plant material (flower lei), but can I bring them on the ship while in Hawaii to enjoy on the ship before we get to San Diego?

  3. Hotels generally don’t charge per guest so there isn’t a need to “fill” each room. I would imagine hotels will rather have all rooms booked with a single guest than have all beds full.
  4. Could you share what "permission to dance" is about? Thanks!
  5. My personal experience, with a job that is only sort of customer facing, is that an email/note to the supervisor is the best. I do really enjoy and appreciate personal notes of gratitude and the occasional gift (it does make my day) but let my boss know, they’re the ones who decide on promotions/raises, etc. People are quick to complain to the “manager” about bad service, we should be just as quick to let the manager know about good service.
  6. It seems much faster to me as well on both my iPad and android phone.
  7. Fyi, club orange will only be $15 per day/per passenger for a 17 day cruise.
  8. I’m just curious how this move saves much money. I would think the cost of feeding passengers would be very similar no matter where they eat. IMO, this is more likely a staffing issue. Less staff is needed with passengers eating in the lido allowing more staff available for other embarkation activities.
  9. It was automatically applied for me but I made sure I was verified before I booked.
  10. It looks like it working for me as well.
  11. That could just be the timing of the observation. They both mentioned chairs were reserved at 8am but only one noticed the removal at 10am.
  12. Update, Stockperks finally approved my eligibility at 5:30 pm (MST) yesterday. Five full days after I submitted my brokerage statement. I didn’t expect them to be working on weekends, but they must be.
  13. My understanding is milkshakes are found at the Dive-in or Gelato so based on the FAQ found on HAL websites it seems like they aren’t included. However, I heard that some people with a drink package haven’t been charged. Hopefully more experienced cruisers can share their experiences. edited to add, that with further searching, I think it’s the juices offered at Gelato that are not included. So maybe the milkshakes are?
  14. Yes, especially since if you go through a certain big box retailer, you still get the deck plan with available cabins to pick from.
  15. Yes, it’s not that much of a difference but it is a lot more if you consider the cost to up grade to the elite drinking package and the premium internet (not that I would upgrade).
  16. My December cruise is currently showing a price that is a couple hundred less than I paid. However, the math shows I’m still ahead with the earlier booking bonus so I’m not going to refare
  17. For my cruise, they were available 12 months prior. However, there may be excursions in which HAL is still working out the details so they may appear closer to sail date. If you have the Navigator app installed it is easy to peek every now and then to see if anything is available.
  18. Same here, if I go to my Stockperks profile and select Portfolio it tells me that my statement is being processed so I know it hasn’t been approved yet, even though the email said two days. Since CCL just extended the benefit to the end of the year, I am assuming many others applied as I did when I heard the news, so they may be experiencing higher volume than usual. A total guess on my part. I will wait a bit longer and reach out if I need to.
  19. I was looking at a “gift card” purchased elsewhere but based on your feedback, I looked into more and it doesn’t exactly say I can only use it on a seven day cruise but it does say I will be refunded if the sail date I entered doesn’t match the date of the itinerary. So maybe they are checking the length of the cruise. I’m glad I asked before buying it. Thanks for the info.
  20. I’m booked on a 16 day cruise. If I get a seven day spa pass (pre sailing), how does that work? Can I pick any 7 of the 16 days? Do the seven days start at the beginning of the cruise? Do I get to pick the first day and then get the next six after it? Thanks!
  21. Accidentally posted twice. Deleted.
  22. I just found out that I'm on the second to last cruise before the Zaandam is dry docked. Which coincidentally was the case with my one and only previous cruise. So while I'll miss out on whatever will be new and pretty, and may have to live with issues that are waiting to be fixed, I'm looking for the silver lining. I am assuming the crew on the ship will have already spent weeks together and have the kinks worked out. Does this sound like a correct assumption? Holland is not likely to do a major crew change just a few weeks before dry dock are they?
  23. As others have noted, you can get one star status with a cruise on another Carnival line. I did this. I emailed the Mariner society and provided the Mariner numbers of my daughter and myself and provided the details of the cruise we took on carnival (ship name, dates sailed, and cruise name (Western Caribbean, in my case)). You coud provide your "loyalty" number instead but I didn't have access to my daughter's, if she ever got one. I don't think I ever got an email response back but the one star status was noted on my HAL account very soon after.
  24. Wow, that is pricey. I think the cost for HAL is around $5,000 per month per ship for Starlink. Pretty good ROI for HAL.
  25. That was the impression I got when I was looking, thus I was anxious to hurry and book. However, for that particular cruise it was listed as available until exactly at the one year mark prior to embarking.
