  1. Certainly most of the American ones
  2. Totally agree ,not practical , we were lucky as what looked like a good read from the title mostly turned out to be true, we too took some books with us but due to the high amount of sea days we had to avail ourselves of the library, and were grateful it was there, as were lots and lots of others
  3. The issue here is where does it end ? It would appear thet cruise companies in general and P and O in this instance seem to think ,or assume, that because of people not been able to cruise for such a long time that they can do as suits them and the fare paying passengers will just accept it, we all know that in the terms and condition's it states that nothing is set in stone and changes may have to be made, however this now appears to be a re occurring theme and in a lot of cases at short or very short notice, Really feel for the people on this cruise ,and the many others (see other boards) who's plans have been spoilt, eventually people will look to other forms of holidays if what they pay for and expect is downgraded
  4. Always a good idea to gel hands before entering the library, (if indeed there is one ) something we have always done everywhere on the ship even pre, pandemic, can't say it does much for the state of your hands after two weeks (or more) but if it keeps nasties away its worth it
  5. Used the facilities last week at the Fairmount ,but pre booked our appointments before we left the uk took just over an hour from going in to getting the result , hope this helps👍
  6. No photographers on Cunard , or P and O ,but a full compliment on Holland America with lots of people congregating around the picture viewing areas, and of course all the usual formal , dining room , embarkation and shoreside photos. Same company (Carnival) different approach🤔
  7. Our first time with HAL on Konninsgdam last week to Alaska, we booked twelve months ago when the HIA was not even mentioned or known about, so it was frustrating when three months ago it was been promoted with new bookings on our cruise , when we got on board we asked about the drinks package and a very helpful chap called Marlon asked for our cruise cards and informed us that we had been put on the HIA package!!! This was a real shock as in all our previous cruises new offers or promotions had never been added retrospectively, although we are not big drinkers we only looked at the drinks package because we had been told that drinks were more expensive on HAL ,especially with the 18% surcharge .Have to say we were very impressed with Hal for upgrading us to this package and to Marlon for finding this out and gave a really good first impression of the company, the package worked for us but we never used it to its full, and when we sail with HAL again we will look to book a package as by European standards. the glass measures were large!!!. Not sure about all the different packages been mentioned on this thread but the one we were on was perfect for our needs and was never fully utilized. We will be sailing with HAL again as they were a pleasure to deal with 😃
  8. Reading all these comments causes me some concern as we are booked on a similar cruise on Azura in 2023 and have booked it for most of the ports which have been changed on the current one , if this were to occur when we are going it would be a waste of money to go to places we didn't want to or had been to before, it would help if plenty of notice were given so we could cancel but in light of what's been said on this thread that's highly unlikely, it really is poor service expecting passengers to part with money for something they don't really want and then expecting them to "just get on with it"
  9. While korcula sounds lovely its not Dubrovnik ,Trieste or Rovinj , one port change is bad enough but three out of four? If I was booked on this one i would be looking to cancel or re book, when people book cruises the itinerary is usually the first consideration and having suffered the same fate earlier this year we were given the option to cancel or take enhanced obc and some substitute ports , it suited us as the ports that were cancelled we had visited before and looked forward to the replacements we had not been to, THREE days before departure one of the substitute calls was cancelled and "a relaxing sea day" replaced it ,to go with the twenty two others , we wouldn't have gone ahead if we knew this was to happen but with virtually no notice the option to cancel had gone, the same thing appears to be happening to a number of booked shore excursions , so i can only confirm that in my opinion operational reasons is a smokescreen and the only people who suffer are the paying passengers😒
  10. Were you given the option to cancel or re book? Operational reasons is a new term which appears to act as a smokescreen, if people were told the truth the companies would gain a lot more respect😒
  11. Got my obc for our recent cruise on Koningsdam and have received it on other carnival brands so I take the view that its a low risk investment with reasonable returns, and the more you cruise the more the returns, that said I purchased mine as they were falling at the start of the pandemic, by the beginning of 2024 I will have made up what I paid in obc, any dividends will be a bonus👍. Just a quick mention ,first time with HAL and very, very impressed🙂
  12. I always wanted to own some Carnival shares ,mainly for the shareholder benefits however they were at the time around£30 a share , waited and bought mine for a third of that and since have had four cruises across the carnival fleet with five more to come , so even without a dividend they will have paid for themselves , if id waited a little longer they were even cheaper to buy, hindsight is a wonderful thing
  13. Just booked our complimentary parking with CPS ,first time with free parking as usually take the coach option , took les than five minutes , pretty impressed tbh👍
