I am sure all our cruises will go up in price because of our dollar! I read that it could go down to $40 against the US dollar. Let’s hope they are wrong, I have booked a lot of cruises for the next couple of years. Eileen

Brillance of the seas 14th February 2023
Cruisers47 replied to Cruisers47's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Well there are definitely issues with RC and their web site! I decided to pay part of my final payment early because I have a new credit card with ANZ, better Travel insurance. I did the payment through the RC site and it all went through and they have sent me a new receipt with new amount due. It states the due date for the rest of the payment is the same as that strange email I receive, one month early.. The one that I thought was a scam. I have the original documents, from when I made the booking and the due date is stated one month later. So it was not a scam! They may just be trying to get people to pay their final payment early. i have not had any reply from my email to RC yesterday. But I know it was not a scam. Eileen -

I get the Bunnings thing every week and others but this had the correct reference number and my loyalty number and the correct cruise information. somebody must be into RC computer info. anyway I check everything nowadays eileen -
Hi i have received an email from Royal Carribean asking for my final payment for the above cruise. i think it is a scam. It asks me to pay one month before the final payment is due. It does look like it is from RC. it gives me my reservation number but not the amount due? It asks me to click on a link ? I have advised RC of this! I have also put it on the Roll Call. be aware! We have been on Cunard and dressed appropriately but now are still dressing nicely for dinner on the other ships, but more casually. If you have had a day on an excursion it’s nice to come back and have a shower and different clothes, for dinner. as I have all these lovely dresses I used to wear on the boats not anymore but we are on Celebrity Edge over Christmas so I am taking a nice dress and although my husband is now not taking a suit he will have a nice shirt and trousers for that day. no shorts and thongs in the dining room but then I am old. It keeps putting in +61 but that does not leave enough room for the other numbers. Any further advice, Want to do the internet before the price goes up. thanks Eileen

Hi, we have only done one P and O cruise about 15 years (I think) . It was a real laugh. Remember the days when you had to go on the deck to do the safety information, A young guy was on his first cruise and by the time we were doing the safety thing he was quite drunk, he said he had spent all his money and would have to contact his mum to send him some more. We were just going up the side of OZ so no passports required, We did laugh!! recently I wanted to do a couple of cruises in OZ winter and looked at Carnival or P and O. I thought P and O were supposed to be the cheapest but when I looked I thought the prices were no cheaper than Carnival and from comments on CC it seems that on P and O you are now paying for some things that would normally be included. am I wrong ? Eileen -
I guess it is a choice thing for parents if you are willing to let your young kids have cards. my grandkids all have there own cards. i am a member of a Probus club and some of our members still do not have credit or debit cards, We are trying to get change on how we collect our fees but it is not easy. When we have people paying fees means our treasurer has large amounts of cash to take to the bank…not very safe in this day and age. She says the churches are having the same trouble going to the bank as some local banks are not taking cash any longer so they have to travel to find a bank. She used to be a bank manager and says we have only a few years left for cash and cheques. Eileen

I understand that at the MCG (footy and cricket) they are not accepting cash. Reports of Grandads giving kids $20 to go and get some chips and them needing a credit card. Difficulty as who wants to give a young kid a credit card and it gets lost!! But that is how things are going but it may take a couple of years yet before it really happens widely. Eileen

You have said something that struck a note with me! We are willing also to pay more for cruising which I love, having done about 40 cruises but I still look for ‘value for money’. It’s the way I am. Eileen -
New ships coming to Australian Waters

Yes we are Diamond on RCL but have done a few Celebrity cruises Also. But thanks for the reminder. i actually read yesterday that RCL are thinking of amalgamating the celebrity and RCL points. This is because MSC and Virgin are offering the same extras if you book with them. we were on RC just after Covid, in Europe, and there were so many Diamond and others that they had to open a larger diamond lounge to fit everybody in! we do love the Diamond lounge ..nice coffee, nibbles, and nice people!!❤️. Did Japan recently…so many Aussies! -

We are on Celebrity Edge over Christmas and looking forward to it. i am assuming that since it is more expensive that Royal Carribean the food will be better, although the food on RC is ok. have been on Celebrity before but not since Covid. Eileen -

Velocity points for Virgin Cruise.

Hi i am really pleased to hear that a few of the CC people have managed to get this “free” cruise. Please let us know all about the cruises when you are on them or have completed. they advertise these cruises for a younger more “swinging “ cohort. we are getting more variety of cruises in OZ. Disney and Virgin for example. I am wondering if the prices will go down? we have booked two cruises in June and July with Carnival. We went on Carnival a few years ago, with Grandkids and it was ok. Not my first choice if there was a bigger variety, but I do not want to go to Europe next year with the Olympics on in Paris but want out of Melbourne during the winter!🥶. Eileen -
Hi just got an email from Velocity to buy points for us for the virgin free cruise. They originally said you could not buy points. thought about it but we have a Christmas cruise and a February cruise not decided not to bother. but good luck to everybody who gets a cruise. Let us know how it goes. Eileen

I chose the ANZ card because of the information on CC. i have about 4 cruises booked for 2024 and one booked for 2025, We have a few years to go before we reach 81 so as long as we keep well we will be cruising.

I am sure everybody appreciated the work you did with all the organising. It is also a lot of responsibility, good on you. a friend of mine once said that she thought I enjoyed all the organising of flights, cruises, hotels and excursions as much as the cruises. We recently booked a trip through a travel agent in Queensland for our Azamara med cruise. We got to the airport and the flight had been changed so we had a new ticket number, she had not advised us, I prefer to do it all myself. Eileen.

I pay all my bills on my card. They recently offered me 10,000 points if I spent $50 each of 4 weeks. It is very easy to spend $50 on groceries nowadays. When you see things on special now I tend to buy 2 because for sure the next time you go to buy it will have increased in price. I think the supermarkets are making the most of everything going up.
