  1. cdrbenson.you are truly a man after my own heart (and they are few and far between). youre on, the 2nd round is on you, and dinner at the 1st port is on us also
  2. his tutorials never worked for me. to this day i cant draw for s**t. i still have problems drawing either a circle or a straight line. ok how about this."how is the view from the peanut gallery" or it has a good beat, it's easy to dance to, and i'll give it a 75
  3. we ordered the 6 bottle package on our last cruise in april. no problems, no complaints, 3 in the cabin and we were all fine with it. have your steward empty the fridge the 1st day (unless you want to be gouged by the prices) put the water in there instead, and you're good to go!
  4. if it's in your price range, try and book the sheraton san juan. its almost right across from the pier. and dont miss the bacardi factory!
  5. unless you're into scuba diving, there isnt much going on in bonaire. curacao, however is picturesque and a beautiful place to be, been to aruba a few times, and not very impressed, wouldnt go again, but i have always wanted to see st lucia and st kitts so i would personally opt for that itinerary. been to belize, roaton, costa maya cozumel a few times also. loved the ruins in cozumel, belize and costa maya. it was many years ago, and at time there wasnt a lotto do in roaton bay. if i had to take that cruise again, id probably just get off the ship and wander around. given the 2 choices, i'd opt for the epic.we had that cruise booked for the beginning of this year, but due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to cancel. i still would love to see st lucia, even if that was the only port. while i would love to check out the breakaway, we've been on the getaway 3x's alrady, so it isnt on my primary bucket list. all that being said however, which ever you choose, have a great time and "BON VOYAGE"
  6. cdrbenson, im 74 and quickly approaching 75, of course i would recognize the reference. i just didnt think anyone would remember, much less in 2022 make reference to it. i tip my hat to you also and to the good mrs benson. i wish for you both to have continuing happy and joyful cruises. if in the future we find each other on the same cruise, the 1st drink is on me lol
  7. fyi, 3rd and 4th people sailing for free. all ncl does is spread out the costs. try and mock book a cabin for four people when you get to the end and it shows breakdown, click on it and you will see there are no savings the cost for the 1st 2 have been inflated i have said this before, my criteria for booking is itinerary and price. so far ncl meets those, so i stay with them. after a number of cruises, you will find ncl doesnt give away ice cubes in winter. their 35% off deal has been going on and on and on, but you really arent saving any money
  8. cruiseny4life. i'm not very teasable, but i'm really cute! (lol) cdrbenson: john beresford tipton?, "BOY" are you aging yourself. how many people reading these posts do you think will get the analogy?
  9. chiefmate How about me? dont i rate nearly as high as sthrngary?
  10. and isnt the comfort, luxury and exclusiveness of the haven exactly why people book those cabins. thats why people book 1st class on airlines, and specific floors in hotels. i like to stay at hotels that offer club lounges for guests staying in specific rooms. done this at crowne plaza hotels in hong kong, barcelona and hamburg. marriott has this an we did this in athens a few months ago prior to our cruise. with t he 24 hr on call butler, and concierge, why go anywhere else?
  11. being the anti-social animal that i am, not to mention a grumpy old curmudgeon, since they call the haven "a ship within a ship" other than going to the specialty restaurants, shore excursions, possible shows, and sugarcane, im more than happy to stay where i am in the haven. yes, ill explore the ship, but by and large, there isnt a great deal of anything else on board that i require or care to see or hear. before i get blasted, we've been on 18 ncl cruises, and while i'm not as well haven versed as sthrngary, ive booked enough of them to stay put and stay satisfied
  12. trumpynor, no i always book directly with ncl. we have a rep that works directly with casinos at sea, and she is a godsend njkate. i realize that it's a 3 hr bus trip, i just have always wanted to see paris and my wife has always wanted to see london. this kills 2 stones with 1 bird (oops). while im not crying in my beer about not being able to see berlin, again, i think it would have been appropriate for ncl to let us know especially changing after final payment was due
  13. for shorter cruises, you get 2 dinners per person specialty restaurants, and can purchase more if you wish. most ncl ships have the following: Cagney's, (traditional steakhouse) teppanyaki (if youre familiar with benihana, same same. moderno (brazilian steakhouse) there is a large selection of food from the salad bar, and then waiters come around with skewers of different meats. you eat until you're ready to burst, so come hungry , le bistro (french style restaurant) i dont think young kids would enjoy this, and it's my least favorite, so even free i tend not to go there. It's a little to pretentious for my taste. la cucina, italian (some people sweat by it, some swear at it ). also not one of my favorites. food is so so, but i think your kids will enjoy. other ncl ships have other specialty restaurants, but the ones listed are the ones with which i am familiar. the beverage package is for the 1st two people in the cabin. if you're not big drinkers, this package is sufficient. you can get limitless drinks throughout the day, up to anything that would cost $15. or less. any drink above that you pay the difference. it's not totally free, as youre paying so called "gratuities" up front. if you want upper echelon liquors, you can upgrade the drink package, but i'm happy with a glass of chivas, a glass of champagne, a mojito, a cold beer, and a glass of port wine after dinner. i dont need 15-25 yr old single malt scotch to make me happy. i dont use the internet while i'm on vacation, so the wi-fi minutes to me are meaningless, although once on board my wife immediately goes to the internet station to pay for the upgrade. lastly, my main gripe is the so-called free shore excursions. regardless of the cost, you only get $50 off each port. imho, that hardly constitutes "free" in the end, everyone has their own criteria for what they want from a cruise vacation. mine is itinerary and price. so far for the past 12 years and 18 cruises later, ncl has met my criteria, never having been on a carnival cruise, while i cant knock it, it just seems that every time something bad happens on a cruise ship, its usually a carnival vessel. whatever you choose, have a great time.. sorry for this lengthy diatribe.
  14. the point is, it would have been very nice of ncl to inform about the change. i realize there may be change of plans due to unforeseen circumstances while already at sea, but in this case we had 90 days before sailing. while i'm grateful that ncl could send out an email regarding no need to show negative covid test prior to entering the u.s. i think some notice of the port change would have been appropriate, especially since the date of final payment has long gone
  15. guy asked a legitimate question, lighten up on him. he's on an ncl cruise and tomorrows lottery numbers are 8, 16, 21 23 30, 32. good luck with that. if you play those numbers, i also have ocean view property in las vegas available for purchase!
  16. as long as youre on the ship 2 hrs prior to sailing you should have no problems. there will probably be many openings to book shows (and stuff) once you get on board, so dont sweat it. also, i would see what the cab fare runs. if your hotel, has a concierge, try and utilize his/her services, or go with your gut, check another shuttle service.
  17. you are correct. the site wont let you enter any information until 21 days prior to sailing. in the past fully checking in was available as soon as the reservation was made. those days (unfortunately) are long gone
  18. helene109: you're a little late to the party, this issue has been discussed many times. It's NCL policy, they will not open the balcony dividers. it's considered a fire hazard to keep them open. some people have previously advised that their cabin steward did in fact open them. if so, he/she did it at the risk of their jobs. so, sorry, it's not happening
  19. most hotels try to be accommodating if a traveler needs an early check in. if there is a room available, they will do their best. remember though, they have to deal with people checking out, and then send up the cleaning crew to refresh the linens and toiletries, clean the entire room, remake the beds, etc. in a large hotel, this takes time, so most hotels give a 12:pm checkout and a 3-4 p.m. check in. also, remember that some people will request a late checkout which further ties up the room
  20. if youre in the main dining room on a carnival cruise ship, after dinner if they ask for your key card, try telling them youre not staying at this hotel and see the expression on their face
  21. my wife was just on hold for almost 2 hrs on a different issue. its not unusual to have a long wait. lst time i called, i was on hold so long i lost 15 pounds (lol)
  22. we always had 24 hrs to cancel an excursion, and get the money refunded or taken off the bill. i dont even usually book an excursion until i board, and only about 2 times in 18 cruise with ncl have i been locked out of an excursion. so unless it a tour that leaves on the 1st day out, which i doubt, there should be no problem.
