  1. How do I find the price of a day cabin
  2. that’s what I was thinking but I think they can also be behind or infront of you etc. will have to see when we can get onto the seat allocatation bit but we aren’t 14 weeks away yet. another question though as this thread made me look see if we have the times for the flights yet and we do. Yay. It’s with tui. Never flown with them before. Anyway the flight home is 6.20pm from Barbados. so do we get kicked out of the cabin at 8am like usual (I think it was 8am last time) and what time is it likely that we have to go from the ship on the bus to the plane. never done a cruise like this before. Always been from Southampton
  3. well they don’t tell you it’s an extra £300 for family of 4 to reserve seats. I don’t mind not sitting with hubby but the kids are too young to sit away from me. I even asked them on the phone about how all the seats were reserved and things and she just said I had to log on when they were released. I wish companies would just be upfront.
  4. Loving reading this. we are on Arvia in feb
  5. oh that sounds good. We have 4 between dec 23-April 25. Hubby won’t let me book anymore. I think he is a spoil sport but I have spent a ridiculous amount on holiday since everything started reopening. Problem is after being told we can’t go anywhere for so long I went a little mad. I didn’t actually like Disney this year as much as I thought I would. My girls have gotten too old and don’t really want to do the characters anymore and are more into the big rides, hate it that we missed out on the other one when they were little due to stupid covid. we also need to be careful with taking them out of school as much now. yes I don’t think the pools would be warm I had an advantage with kids club as mine went together
  6. I don’t know about azura but iona was 7am-8pm. Would think azura would be similar. on azura there was a little kiddie pool at the back of the kids club that we got to from the back where the buffet is then up the stairs. Mine liked it in there- they were 4&3 when we last went on azura. I might have just gotten back from Florida in June 😂 I haven’t got enough holidays booked. We had loads last year and this year it’s killing me not to be jetting off every few months. But the deals just aren’t there. We are on Iona in December just Northern Europe then Caribbean in February. I just hope I’m going to be well enough to go. Really don’t want to have to cancel. I’m sure Hiro will love it. Are you leaving him at kids club?
  7. Both mine have always had a card that lets them off and on the ship. Opens the door and also allows them to spend. Mine have used it a few times when getting ice cream etc but I lost out on the 5% discount cos they hadn’t been on as many cruises as us and also Scarlett decided to get double scoops for her, we did have words about good choices but it was a lesson for the both of them. We weren’t very cross, more amused but have to have some responsibility. georgia did once order drinks including a pint, she was sat sunning herself next to the hot tub while hubby was in the hot tub. He watched as she flagged down a waiter, ordered everyone drinks then the waiter came and told hubby that he’d need to sign for it. She must have been listening to our conversation as I’d said I would get drinks when I came back, I’d gone to the cabin for suncream. She was 6.
  8. I have four cruises booked. I’ve only received the emails for the two I have on Arvia, and have duplicates. was hoping it was about flight info
  9. Definitely good to know. are you set on a cruise now? Our next one isn’t until December. I’m not going to cope that long without a holiday.
  10. Eh? I’m confused They were zooming from one side to the other with their Google’s on- so under the water. In the hot tub. I know I am strict with my two but if they want to do that they get in the pool. The hot tub is for me and others to sit and relax in.
  11. thanks megabear. they are happy and confident in water. I just worry that they aren’t the best or strong swimmers. They can manage maybe 10m swimming I think and they are good at diving down. They literally spent 3 weeks in the pool in Florida. But for somewhere that’s at sea I worry. I suppose really we won’t be ever going out too far from either a boat or land and especially if they have on a life vest then that’s no issue. I just have this horrible memory of when I was a teen, about 15 I think and me and my mum went swimming in Spain and going out was fine but trying to get back in was terrible, it’s panicked me a bit ever since. I’ll go look at all those now.
  12. see they all sound so cool but the kids aren’t the best swimmers yet and I don’t think I could let them on a zip line. They will only be 9&8
  13. Mine used the hot tubs. Have done since they were 6 actually but they either sit still or will be made to get dressed and sit at the side. Unfortunately we have one that will laze in there all day and another with ants in her pants so she doesn’t get long in there. For me supervised kids and behaving is fine. Zooming from one side to the other with google on and in nappies, and snot running down their face, those things made us get out of the hot tubs as it turns my stomach. I unfortunately can’t shout at others kids but I can make sure my own are behaved.
  14. Barbados Tortola La Romana St Maarten Antigua St Kitts Martinique St Lucia I feel like there is a lot of planning. They all seem to take different currencies which wouldn’t be an issue if I could use my credit card everywhere but I worry that over there they will want cash instead.
  15. Some of these cruises are going up ridiculously. £230 in one week.
  16. Well I’m about to start packing soon for our next adventure- Disney world Florida for three weeks. we have had such an amazing 18months of holidays. We’ve been on Britannia to Spain and France. Then we tried our hand at msc first the fjords on virtuosa then to Northern Europe on preziosa. We did the canaries on iona. Had a wonderful pre chirstmas getaway to Disneyland Paris. Although it didn’t do a patch on Florida, the chirstmas decorations were lovely. We’ve just gotten back from our fjords cruise on iona with the parents in law tagging along at the last minute and now we have 5 days to go till I’m back where I love best. now my holiday pot is completely dry I have to get back to saving for the next four adventures that we have booked for the next two years. I haven’t at all got enough holidays booked for my liking (my bank balance says no though currently) so it’s been awesome while it lasted. if anyone wants to send me winning lottery tickets that will be much appreciated 😂 I know it’s a cruise board but I’ll probably post some Disney pics on here.
  17. i did a thread on iona a few weeks ago. There’s always going to be something you don’t like whilst on holiday but I would say that mine shows a good holiday. I really would look at everything before cancelling cruises and losing deposits. megabear has already said a few times that this is just the experience of this one cruises. Bit like the one that went wrong at Christmas, out of lots of cruises there might only be a few that go wrong and then it’s only for some people it goes wrong. Megabear has had some really bad luck and I think she is correct in telling people to complain. The big companies need to know when a customer is unhappy, if they don’t complain they will think they have done no wrong and carry on doing it. I think it’s unfair some have put it on megabear that have cancelled the cruises due to her thread. its like everything with holidays, do lots of research to see where the problems are and then don’t book or cancel. Don’t just go on one review as everyone’s experience is completely different. I didn’t like msc due to the 8 table I was put on. For me this put me off booking again unless it’s a fantastic deal however others may love that. Always do your research, I knew that club dinning was a risk when booking and did it anyway.
  18. Sorry to hear it’s been another bad day for you. I wasn’t following correctly till I did a little research for where you were to realise that it’s either a 40mins to 70mins walk into the town depending on where you are. it does sound like there wasn’t enough buses. I would have just gotten a taxi and then stormed the front desk for a refund as I cannot wait in a queue (I have a little card for it and everything) and I’m younger than most passengers so god knows how the older ones managed. I was fuming when we had to wait 45mins to get onto a msc ship. No shuttle just the weird floating walk way. And we were one of the first batch to get back on I’m sure it ended up being longer. I was going to go to reception and have a tizzy at them but they sent a note giving us €50 compensation. They even gave the people that didn’t bother getting off the comp although I don’t know why but the point is that I respected them more for acknowledging the issue and trying to soften the blow. Had this have been the same on p&o I would be hoping for that too.
  19. id probably join more places that talk about experiences than just cruise critic. Not everyone’s experiences will be bad.
  20. where are you today? it’s all very subjective cos we had an awful queue to get back on an msc ship but not from p&o yet. sorry your cruise isn’t going great. I was hoping after the issues with the cabin it might have been more smooth sailing
  21. Any ideas on this since they are parent company to p&o So says I can pre pay gratuities of £448. Does that mean I still have to pay on drinks and food also? this is from their website. HOW DO GRATUITIES WORK ON A CARNIVAL CRUISE? The staff on your cruise works hard to make fun happen for you, and Carnival guests show their appreciation by tipping. Stateroom attendants, waitstaff and other folks you’ll see throughout your cruise appreciate the tips they receive, as do employees working hard behind the scenes to make your cruise amazing! The easiest way to show you care is through automatic gratuities. This is great because it makes sure nobody’s efforts are forgotten. When booking, these tips can be automatically applied with a click! OKAY, HOW MUCH? Tips are on a per-guest basis, at the following rate: Standard Staterooms: $16 USD per guest, per day Suite Staterooms: $18 USD per guest, per day (Remember that these figures are for everyone who helps you, throughout your cruise!) MORE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT TIPPING Tips are assessed for all guests ages 2 and up. A service charge of 18% will be added to your bill at Bonsai Sushi, Bonsai Teppanyaki, Chef’s Table, Emeril’s Bistro, Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse | Brewhouse and Seafood Shack. Additional gratuities can be added at your discretion. When ordering room service, tipping is encouraged upon delivery. Tips are not included in the menu price of beverages — an 18% service charge will be added to the bill, and additional gratuities can be added at your discretion.
  22. Stefan really 😂 I much preferred Damon.
  23. 😂 I was a vampiress long before vampire diaries, although I did enjoy the show and also true blood and the originals. But I prefer books to be honest. Glad you have decided to book. We’ve been on iona twice and enjoyed it. All I would say is the 710 club needs to be booked as it’s difficult to get.
