  1. I'd give up cruising before taking the chance on any MSC ship.
  2. You probably saved our cruise, thank you. I assumed this was a great cabin because I don't want sun. But the dark tinted balcony glass and the hum of the jacuzzi motor are deal breakers. Fortunately they were able to move our reservation to GS 1252, right next to forward elevators but I'll take it!
  3. I believe you can get ice cream in the MDR at no extra charge.
  4. Did the a/c work well enough that you weren't uncomfortable? Thank you.
  5. We knew the sound from far away, “THE FOG MAN’S COMING!” Jumped on our bikes and rode happily in the dense fog. It was a sad day when they changed to an invisible spray. Somehow never got hookworm though mothers said we would, running around barefoot all the time.
  6. If the children scream and cry, I imagine that it won't bother the spring break-ers.
  7. The old ships’ days are numbered, in part due to emissions and fuel efficiency. Captain told the audience to spend a lot in the casino to keep it in the fleet. Really liked Grandeur back in January, going again next month and it is sold out, wondering how the crowds will be and whether the a/c can keep up. I like the feeling of traveling back in time!
  8. No complaints from me…it’s pretty standard fare IMO, I am not picky, couple issues the server handled swiftly. I don’t do the big ships though.
  9. Nope, they are very adroit at doing just enough to get by, and with the labor shortage, it’s hard to find a replacement, who will likely be no better.
  10. There is a difference in having your phone on you so family can reach you in case of emergency vs. walking around focused on social media, like they are doing their employer a big favor just by their presence, which is what's going on more and more, sadly. Along with non-stop jibber-jabber, actually doing work maybe 25% of the time.
  11. There is an insane amount of storage; decide upfront which drawers/cupboards are not to be used. Packing up at the end will be much less burdensome.
  12. My guess is that IV saves construction costs…the prefab cabins are installed and no balcony structure needs to be built.
  13. Curious if the whole room gets damp from condensation if you keep that window open. Not a problem with a normal balcony because you keep the sliding door closed. Also, what about the wind tunnel effect, do have to wait for the electric window to raise before you open your door to the hallway?
  14. Honest question - what is the point of bringing a two-year-old on a cruise? He won't remember it, his behavior is apt to disturb others, and you have to watch him every second.
  15. My $.02 not reusing plates is buffet etiquette as a safeguard from those who might be careless and allow contamination.
  16. $120 extra for 14 nights is a generous amount. It’s hard to judge people’s reactions when they are from a different culture. We never know the difference we may be making to improve a family’s quality of life in places with less opportunity. Maybe paying for children’s education or better housing.
  17. How else is a child going to acquire confidence and independence if they aren't allowed to figure things out unsupervised? There are cameras everywhere. She isn't afraid. If she gets lost, crew members are there to help her. Of course you will instruct her not to run and to pay attention to her surroundings. And see that she has a grasp of the deck plans near the elevators. Start off with her only going back and forth to the kids club. Then see how you feel about allowing more freedom. She'll be so proud to do things on her own. These are only my own opinions as an older person, only you know what is right for your child.
  18. Honesty and integrity are not dead. In my job, we are a team, and tips/gratuities/whatever you want to call them go into a pool. If anyone was caught keeping cash, they would be excoriated and fired.
  19. Lesson learned, when you have more than one cruise coming up, make sure to say which ship and date you are calling about, not just the booking number. Thanks again to all who took the time to help me.
  20. Agree. He was looking at a different cruise I am going on.
  21. Okay…. He assumed that my sister who normally accompanies me would be with me, and I wanted to add a third person. Again, thanks to you all for getting me the right information.
  22. My TA put me on hold for a considerable time. I don’t know where he got the information. I have left him a message explaining what you all have told me, and asking him to call me tomorrow. I’ll report back!
  23. Thank you, you all are such a great resource....I'll call back my TA and tell him.
