  1. Phew Gene! Pretty stressful. But congratulations on being able to board successfully! Good job! 👍
  2. This is not the first rodeo for the Vista. Back in 2019, I believe, they had serious issues with the propulsion system, and they limped back into Galveston like a day or 2 late. That was a long time ago, and just recalling from memory. I hope they get the issue resolved. We were on her last August, and experienced no issues at all. A most enjoyable cruise. The Vista is a beautiful ship, with lots of amenities.
  3. ^^^^^This! Well put! I agree completely! 👍

    Cuba

I doubt it would be a tourist destination or shore excursion.
  5. SOK. This happens frequently when important breaking news reach the cruise industry's blogs. Thanks for posting!
  6. It will be done automatically. You don't have to go to G.S. Any grats shortage will be charged to your credit card automatically.
  7. Well, I finally made it to the party! Really looking forward to your review, and Patty's pictures that are always outstanding.
  8. Either that, or do not do anything with the OBC you have already accumulated, and let that automatically be deducted from your S&S card until the end of your cruise. That's what we did. We never even noticed it.
  9. What a touching and respectful burial at sea.!
  10. Good job! That's the way it's done. Once a very wise man said to me: "Diplomacy is the art of having someone have your way. I live by that motto.
  11. Well! That was damned nice of the waiter to say so! Just a reminder that you can ask for more! Don't be shy! It's your cruise after all.
  12. That's not the experience I've seen on Carnival. But as always, YMMV.
  13. It's better to err on the side of caution, so....good job! 👍
  14. Normally....I do stress 'normally', the elegant nights are the evening of the first sea day, and the next to the last night full sea day. Ok. Is it as clear as 6' of muddy water? Sorry, but you'll have to figure out what those nights are. It always drives me nuts too, if that's any consolation.
  15. I thought so! Good news! Now you can kick back & relax, & wish mom & dad a great cruise! They probably got caught up in the thrill of stepping onto a fabulous ship...went to get a funship special, did the muster drill, dropped off their bags......and finally realized they haven't checked in with you. That's all. I'm 76 & my wife is 74. We older generation folks still got it together....it just takes us a little longer to 'get 'er done'!
  16. Uhhhh...there is no distinction between the 2 elegant nights. They are the same.
  17. I thought Carnival stopped having those, due to the pandemic.
  18. If it's not specifically prohibited, then it is allowed......probably.
  19. On your last night on the cruise, the stewards deliver to each and every cabin, 2 pages of information on debarkation, times, places to meets, etc. It's very informative. Enjoy your cruise!
  20. That's actually a pretty good idea! 👍 It will certainly add miles, but at least you won't be stuck in traffic, overheating the engine. Plus, it'll be a good change of scenery. Whichever route you take, can you check in & give us an update on how getting out of Galveston went?
  21. Agreed! If you don't mind jumping through hoops, if you don't need to. If that doesn't work, by all means!
  22. I've seen them in Sports Bars, Heroes Bars, the big screen by the pool(where Dive in Movies are shown), in the Casino Bar...sometimes in Red Frog Pub & Brewery. You just have to check every bar that has a tv going at the time. Besides, it's good exercise to walk around searching for them.
  23. In the recent past(the last 18-24 months) Carnival recognized this was entirely possible and offered a 100 % future cruse credit, that had to be used within 12 months. IIRC. But HAD to rebook IMMEDIATELY??? Not only does that does not sound right, it's just plain wrong. I would escalate that situation to a supervisor if I were you. Don't take no for an answer!
  24. Yes. But only marginally so. For those technologically inclined, yes...they will save about 30 or 45 seconds in the boarding process. For those technologically challenged(like I am), I cannot justify the time required to learn how to do it....if that makes sense.
