  1. I would not read too much into the statement either way. That said, the reason they did it, according to the releases anyway is flexibility and that the demand is truly under the flagship brand. Supply and demand are two magnets attracting. Whether that means they stay after March and relieve some pressure from the current funnel ships serving that market, or they flex to new markets world wide remains to be seen. How the people down under accept all these changes is up to them. I would love to see occupancy and profit numbers for these ships, that would speak volumes.
  2. If you are referring to me, we did not get anywhere near Greenland, certainly not close enough to view anything. We had to deal with significant weather issues approaching (the two days before we were supposed to get there) and also with yet another hurricane on the way back. In between that we did get to see some very nice Canadian ports. All things said, it was a nice 14 day cruise, but that said (and we tend to try for the different in travel and cruising, including a 14 day cruise to Antartica this past January), would we try this one again? No, unless the price came down dramtically.
  3. I would be interested in your perspective of sailing on these two ships and the other CCL ships and differences between them.
  4. Hope it works out for you, we did not get within 200 miles.
  5. Possible on an exception basis, but without a doubt, their itins they (Carnival and P&O Australia) follow will continue as the majority. Here is hoping for more unique Journeys, but setting up and doing those take time, as in months and months.
  6. Of course you are right, we had two hurricanes converge, and in the end I understood and agreed with their logic. Were we disappointed in a big way….yup.
  7. I applaud your view. I will tell you booked for last September and never even got close. We ended up doing the St Lawrence seaway up and back 4 times. Those stops were just fine, The issue was we could have done that cruise for about a third of what we paid. Our goals were northern lights….nope, Icebergs……nope, Greenland……nope. Rolling with the punches is fine and yes, we did enjoy the cruise, paying 8k for a cruise to Canada, not so much.
  8. might be right, but those poor slobs working the grills need a break from cooking with all that grease floating around.
  9. well for the costa ships they brought in (3), they did not add a funnel.
  10. the demand for the ships is clearly on the CCL side. I would not be surprised to see more of this.
  11. It sure fits to do just that, but we will see.
  12. you listed the same link twice. Is there another one?
  13. I did a quick scan on their pages here, and your assessment seems to ring true on the “loathe”. At the end of the day, they can either suck it up or move the ships to something more profitable. Not sure how big a carrot would make a difference. Two ships worth of semi un happy cruisers to the parent line is something to think about…..for about 10 minutes and then move on.
  14. Well, that may be an overall generic view of cruising, but last I knew, CCL is not heavy in sailings in the Red Sea area. According to the last earnings call, bookings for the caribbean were very strong.
  15. It will be interesting, and they DO have some options that can be a great add to both the US market (without know the heights and whether they can help in some of the challenges for home ports with low bridge clearance issues) and ALSO in the potential for outside the US (and Aussie) cruises. We shall see.
  16. Huh, I thought Shaq, Guy and Emeril would be doing the cooking and serving. Probably Rudi is the hold up on that one….
  17. I cannot argue with your logic, but the assimilation of the loyalty plans into one, scares the heck out of me.
