  1. Yes--And, they should be. Please believe me--If the other folks and your children show up as described, they will not be admitted or asked to change. Otherwise, they won't have difficulty finding a table in the OVC. Hey, it's really not that hard to observe the dress code and there's nothing to prove by " It's MY right " BS.
  2. What tips??? As quoted by Staff on our 2 recent cruises----" 99% of the Guests didn't tip, thus the $9.95 + 18% charge now for room service ". About feeling like a " second class citizen "---- Why would you ?? Not everyone can afford it or wants one. We don't take a suite----because we would not require the use of a Butler, don't drink, use very little wifi. and don't participate in the " upside down pineapple on the door " activity. Mind you, there was this -- probably about 32 yrs old--- Oh, forget it--- keep dreamin !!
  3. The IV is not a balcony at all--- (ok, ok, it's my opinion ) It's a 3 ft extension to the room with a small table ( not big enough for a plate with a hot smoked meat sandwich, fries, diet coke ,and a dill pickle ), 2 small chairs (to hang a wet bathing suit on to dry ), and a window that opens.
  4. We heard that happened on the Equinox ( Feb 18-27 ) sailing due to their actions at the show on the 1st night. Loud, foul language followed by physical challenge directed at some older folks.
  5. 1--- " uplifting scriptures "-- Not in my terminology---- I copied that from a post a few days ago from a thread about bringing gifts for Staff. 2-- "wondering what your thoughts on this might be"--- LOL--- Totally nuts !! Who the hell thinks that a Staff member would like anything else but a "Thank you " and a few $$$ ? " We ( staff ) are here to serve you and provide an excellent cruise experience. We are friendly to you . That's our job . Of course we would like to meet up again on future cruises, but, that's it. No exchange of email addresses , No information on future contract schedules, and No, I can't tell you the cabins that have a pineapple sticker on their door ". C'est la vie !!
  6. Really ?? Why not just leave it for a Staff member ? Come to think of it, there are several threads that appear very often. LOL--- My favorite ---- " Anyone know who's the , etc etc on our cruise in 2026 " ? I'm waiting for some new " stuff " like: " What should I do with the 257 trinkets with "uplifting scriptures" I brought as gifts that nobody wanted " ? " Are slot machines " fixed " ? " If we pay for a meal or 4 in a Specialty Restaurant, will Celebrity refund the price of our meal(s) from the MDR that we paid for in the price of our cruise ----and, didn't even eat" ?
  7. LOL--- So, You are not the person that set up the thread asking: "What should we do with the OBC we haven't used " ?? I'm waiting for a thread : " Can we add the $17 left on our OBC to the $ 800 OBC we have on our next cruise in 2025 " ?
  8. Agree 1000% ----and , if you might have read some of my previous posts, it really bothers me when people remove Gratuities. Perhaps your post might read " not tip any "---instead of "not tip all ". And your --- "I use to notice some of our most difficult tablemates decide to to to the Buffet on the last night - It was so obvious ". Again, it's the old " We're not hungry ---- We ate so much during the cruise I can hardly get into , etc, etc---- We better just take it easy , have a quick bite and pack our bags ". Hint------They "decided" to go to the buffet on the last night of the cruise 10 minutes after booking the cruise !!! ( For you Trolls out there---- Not necessary to tell me " it's not your business what anyone does" ).
  9. OH NO--- What did I start ?? This was discussed ( Challenged !! ) a while ago. Ya wanna talk about " way over the top "---go get a Free 5 minute massage and see what happens. It'll cost you much more than room service and without any --------food !!
  10. LOL-- As soon as someone books a cruise for 2027 and wants to know " Who is the---- etc etc ". Also, the threads on " Gratuities " attract more Trolls than : " What's your favorite appetizer " ? " What time is Bingo " ? " How long should it take to replace a light bulb in our suite--- I reported it 4 minutes ago and still waiting for service " ? " Anyone notice the size of the $%^#& lobster tails lately " ????? " $ 9.95 for room service delivery ----- what would you do at 3 am when you're hungry " ?
  11. OH NO----Watch Out !! Here it comes !! Another Chic Night dress code !!!!
  12. You bet--- Lot's of 'em--- Next time you are on a cruise go down to GR either on the first day or the last night and see the line up of people removing the Grauities (" stiffing " the crew )--- some probably had a good excuse like " My Butler forgot to draw my bath on the 5th night ". Recently, there was a post where a couple refused to give a few bucks to a porter-- they put their bags on a cart and hung around to make sure their luggage got on board--- Yup, they " beat 'em " for a few bucks.
  13. Let's face it--- How the %$^# do YOU know that not all the gratuities finds it's way to the staff ? Oh, I get it--- You work on a cruise ship and are the one that " pockets " 25% of the gratuities. Total nonsense to even think that !! Here's a " tip "----- Get on the ship early , head straight to GR , and avoid the long line of people like you removing the Gratuities !!
  14. Not a suggestion--- Only what we do . Prior to booking a cruise with friends we set " ground rules " and never had any problems: 1-- Do whatever you ( we ) want during the day--- see you at dinner at our reserved time. 2-- If we notice a pineapple on their door ---- Really ??? --- I would never have thought !! ( Never happened--- his bum leg and her sore " everything " ).
  15. Suggestion : Cancel the excursion -- find something else. You will spend the whole time thinking ( worrying ) about getting back in time. It's not worth it. ( No, we were never in that situation --- but, did see " pier runners " on several cruises and once a couple waving " Good Bye " as we left port ).
  16. Exactly--- NO different than the folks in that long line at GR on day one that remove the Gratuities and say they will tip separately. All BS--- What GR should do in these cases is have them fill out a form with who they will tip and amount to be put on their account---- BUT, It won't work because they will say " It depends on the service we receive" and some other excuses.
  17. A guy posted similar " Great Stuff " ( Garbage ) on Cabin Stewards Gifts thread yesterday ( # 95 ). Be a good sport--- at least bring employees ( only those that go out of their way to provide an excellent cruise " experience " for you ) a few trinkets with "uplifting scriptures" , a tshirt from home, or even a box of chocolates.
  18. Agree--- ( sort of ) However, a wimp ,like me, will hand over a couple of bucks as an insurance (?? ) that our bags get onto the ship. LOL--- Using your analogy , Isn't it true that in most restaurants all the Servers do is punch in an order, check their cell phone for emails, and when notified, carry the plate to your table ? ( I'm not thinking of Servers who actually know the menu , how a dish is prepared, and serve it ).
  19. Easy--- Because Everyone already knows who the Captain will be on their upcoming cruise in 2025.
  20. I'm very suspicious when folks remove the Automatic Gratuities and " claim " they will tip separately in the" requisite " amount. ( How do they know what that is )? It just doesn't " sit right " with me. We always leave the Auto Gratuities on , and tip " whomever " extra --- The additional amount does not make a difference to the overall cost of our cruise . Besides, I assume , especially our Stateroom Attendant might be notified that the automatic gratuities were removed and make for uncomfortable " feeling " every time we meet. An excellent way to know would be when the 10 chocolates ,the 4 bars of soap, and the 6 lotion containers that you requested are never there. Another way of knowing would be when he/she doesn't say " Have a nice day " or " Enjoy your dinner ".
  21. Agree---However, for some folks the " pain in the ass " part is toooooo difficult ! When you have 16 hrs , read the many posts on CC re: " In 1972 Celebrity used to etc, etc, and now, the bums don't etc, etc. " " My Butler was late to "draw" the bath "------- that's a " dandy " !! " Why should I have to pay for room service delivery if I feel like a shrimp cocktail, club sandwich and 6 chocolate cookies at 3 am , when I already paid for it in my cruise charge and besides, Celebrity didn't notify me of it prior to the cruise"? " I'm paying more $$ than the folks in XYZ category and am " entitled " to, etc etc ". and, I almost forgot " the size of the @%$^&*% lobster tails " !!!! LOL-- If ya ever see Pinboy working on a cruise ship--- the only scripture he want to read is $$$$ bills.
  22. I posted this recently on another thread-- seems appropriate here as well: " I always write a note of praise regarding our Room Steward, Waiter , Asst Waiter ,and any other Staff member (public washroom Attendant as an example )that we want to recognize for their excellent service --- and hand it in at Guest Relations a day or two before the end of the cruise. By the next day most will have been informed , thank us , and tell us how important it is for their career advancement. We always tip these employees over and above the Daily Gratuities ---- it makes for a nice ending to our cruise ".
  23. It's great that you are cruising with your family. That's a very good idea. There will be absolutely no problem with your plans-- Just go and enjoy --- Have fun.
  24. LOL--- Excellent !! If Pinboy wants a lobster tail , he sure ain't gonna go on a cruise " just " to eat 'em, and , it won't spoil his cruise if they take 'em off the menu. ( The warm chocolate cookie desert ---- that's a different story ) !! What's the " Big Deal " over a friggin lobster tail , how many ways can you find to " beat 'em " for an extra one, or the size of 'em, or the ocean they came from , or, or ? Ya think this thread will get up to 1639 pages ??
  25. Never heard -- All I remember was that her bathing suit reminded me to get new laces for my golf shoes when we get home.
