  1. Nothing can compare UNLESS there is an 87yr old French Canadian lady or man on board preparing 'em--- Better than a 17 yr old kid who counts the number of fries per order !! My Cariologist agrees--- He told me not to eat it more than 3 times a week--------or, did he say once a month? Will do---- ( I will keep my Patrick Mahomes shirt for the Super Bowl game ) LOL--- I just thought of a Super Bowl cruise we were on " years " ago--can't remember who was playing--- Talk about Fun--- More Fun than silent disco, zumba at the pool , the newly wed game, or even napkin folding. If Celebrity promoted a Super Bowl cruise instead of that Goop crap, ya think it would be successful ?
  2. What is a "Good Canadian " Deli product? Oh Boy- too many to mention, probably anything served in any Deli in Montreal, Quebec City or Toronto. Smoked meat , kosher dill pickles, and especially Montreal bagels. Couldn’t find anything like it on any cruise ship. Perhaps other CCers can add to this.
  3. Food at the Spa Cafe in the Solarium is excellent-- nice selections--- clean, quiet area to enjoy breakfast or lunch. Generally , food in the OVC is pretty good with a wide variety to choose from ( Asian, Indian, American-- but, No " Good Canadian " deli products---- The "turn-off" is the number of slobs in the OVC ( the Slugfest on 14 )---- (as posted 100's of times on CC ). Overall for us, the service, food, cleanliness makes Celebrity our " Go to " cruise line.
  4. Overall, there are way tooooo many slobs at the buffet who could care less about being courteous to others. (Just watch them ). We avoid the " Slugfest on 14 ", especially at breakfast and lunch and prefer the MDR and/or the Spa Cafe in the Solarium. We do enjoy the OVC at 4pm -- scones, finger sandwiches, pastries--- and very few passengers. Nothing will change, no matter what -- so, take your chances. Ya can't teach " class ".
  5. 4 pages already-- No " benefit of the doubt " required. Some people just don't/won't want to tip--- easy to see who---they always " find " ( make up ) an excuse not to tip-- Ya spend $$$ on a cruise and post ( need others opinion ) whether tipping is included in room service delivery ?? ( Unbelievable ). And, about Specialty restaurants--- tipping included or not-- Is it such a " big deal " to hand your Server a few $$ ? Lastly-- GR should have a policy to not remove Gratuities--- If the Customer is unhappy and wants to remove Gratuities, tell them to take it up with Head Office after the cruise--- or worse ( LOL) -- complain to the Captain that your Stateroom Attendant didn't bring the ice or your Butler didn't " draw " your bath on time. LOL-- Now, if your Waiter forgot to bring your 3 shrimp cocktails at the same time--- that's a different " story ".
  6. Agree---If there are no tables for two available, they will sit you at a table for four and remove two place settings. We always request a table for two and most often chat with folks nearby---the usual cruise questions---" Where ya from-- Cold up there eh? ", " How many cruises have you taken, How do you like the food/entertainment/service etc, "--- It's all good, until the iphone comes out with 738 pictures of etc, etc.
  7. YOU GOT IT !! I waited to see something like this--- Celebrity did the right thing-- Good on them. For those that are not happy with the 18%, the same ones wouldn't be happy with 4%, or better still, not tip at all. GR should have a separate " Remove Gratuities Here " line, so when I'm in line for change I don't have to listen to BS excuses why someone wants the gratuities removed.
  8. This topic can turn into more pages than " Who's On Board "- "no absolute right to ": Hog lounge chairs, push in line at the buffet, not follow dress code, suggestions or whatever you want to call it, remove gratuities on a lame-duck excuse (my Waiter forgot to bring my 3 shrimp cocktails at the same time), treat Staff as if YOU are the most "Entitled ", and the list goes on.
  9. Suggestion: Make a reservation on the App for each night at your preferred time, then, when you check in at the MDR on the first night, request a table for two. After dinner the Host/Hostess will ask if you would like the same area and Servers for future dinners. It helps them in scheduling, and makes it easy for the Servers as they will get to know your preferences by day 2. Also, if on any night you decide to go to a Specialty restaurant, let the Host/Hostess know so they don't hold the table for you. (It's just a courtesy to folks waiting for a table).
  10. LOL--You must have graduated in Marketing-- THAT is a good idea !!! Maybe I could put flyers on every door advertising my service: " Pinboy's shoe shine service-- first shoe $5.00, second shoe free" (Didn't a TA post something like that a few months ago about putting flyers on every door, seats in the theater, tables in all dining rooms, lounges at the pool, etc because he/she was a Director in the Company and wanted a tax write-off)?
  11. Suggestion : Cancel Aqua class-- buy a $7.00 shoe shine sponge kit (neutral is good for any color of shoe) and do it yourself-- Simple, no waiting for shoes to be returned, no extra tip, and it puts a nice shine on the shoes--- I do it every day while waiting for " you know who " to get ready for dinner. Holy cow, I have time to do 32 pairs of shoes-- if you know what I mean?? Just look at the $$ I just saved you.
  12. Do I look like I have a girlfriend ? LOL--- No---Wasn't me LOL--- Girlfriend ??? What girlfriend ?? Just because I don't care who the Captain is doesn't mean I have a girlfriend ---- And--Besides, with the conversion of Canadian $$ to US $$--- who can afford one??
  13. Based on the demographics of what I've noticed on all of our Celebrity cruises--- There isn't anybody that would last 15 minutes, yet alone 90 minutes. Holy cow, that reminds me of the time she was boppin, arms flailin all over the place, and the next thing you know, they had to call for a wheelchair--- not for her---- for the guy she hit in the , oops, forget it.
  14. Good question--- I don't know as I've never tried Move Up bidding. However, once you transfer the booking to let's say " Big Box ", they now are in control of the booking and would have to contact Celebrity for any changes. Perhaps they can bid on your behalf ? Also, I assume folks try/use the Move Up bidding process is to upgrade to a suite ? Because we are non-drinkers, require limited wifi , and would not need Butler services, we do not book a suite anymore (we did once).
  15. It depends on the time you check in--- no "big deal" though. As other folks have posted, less than 7 nights doesn't really give you the " feel " of Celebrity because the time goes by so fast. You mention "we’ll be booking next our next cruise while on this one!"--- Excellent idea to book while on board --- There "might" be a few benefits ( lower deposit, category upgrade, OBC ) that the Agent can offer. Also, if there is a benefit to you to transfer your booking to a TA , the Celebrity Agent can transfer the booking to them. Everything remains the same-- you do not lose anything. Some of us ( me ) transfer our booking to " Big Box Travel " where we receive a Gift Card based on a % of the cost of the cruise when we return home. It has worked very well-- never a problem. Enjoy your cruise---
  16. ( Off Topic--- Been on several Air Canada flights where 14 wheelchair passengers board first and miraculously 12 are cured during the flight)!! Back on topic-- " Can we ALL have priority boarding "--- NO-- Why even ask ? But, but, "There are young children and babies, and inexperienced cruisers" LOL----Oh, that makes it different-- sure, just tell that to all the other suite passengers !! More " interesting "----How will their Butler " control " yes, " control " what seems like an " Entitled " group ? The " WE want, We need, Make sure there is, and Don't forget to, etc, etc." I hope the Butler knows how to say " Sorry- I'm not hired to serve your entire group".
  17. LOL--- I think you are having a little laugh--- ( all good ). If you are " serious "---- you can find it " exactly " --anywhere in the province of Quebec, some places in Toronto, --- NO place during your cruise. If you are having a little " fun " re ( fine cuisine ) comment---- I will not wear my Josh Allen shirt for the next Bills game.
  18. A May West is a round dessert cake with creme filling. It was created in Canada, and continues to be particularly popular in the province of Quebec-------- especially tasty when The Montreal Canadiens are playing-- even more tasty when they are winning--- even much more tasty when they are beating the Toronto Maple Leafs.
  19. We have always found the food on Celebrity ships very good most of the time. Food and tastes are very subjective---- ( If I can't pronounce it---- forget it ) However----- Everybody loves a hot smoked meat sandwich, large fries (poutine optional), a couple of dill pickles, 2 diet cokes and a May West for dessert.
  20. LOL--- Now there's a good reason to go Carnival--- when there is a fight, a drunk goof , a loud mouth intimidating Staff, etc, Carnival's Security personnel are quick to the scene. However, very likely to see a slugfest in the Oceanview Cafe---( Bring elbow pads ). That's another story for another day.
  21. Because it's only a 4 night cruise (not enough time to get a good " feel " for Celebrity) and you appear to be satisfied with whatever Aqua Class offers--- Blu dining room, Persian Gardens-- both excellent. IMO--- stay with it-- save the $$ for more Celebrity cruises. (Full disclosure--- My opinion is based on the fact that we are no longer suite passengers after trying it--( non drinkers, limited wifi use, and didn't require the services of our Butler).
  22. Excellent-- Appreciate it. (I like #3 the best )-- Makes it so easy and it bothers me when people remove the tips. Even though it's none of my business I could hear them doing it.
  23. Any thoughts? We just booked a few cruises ( since Covid ) ---without the AI package--- ( Non drinkers-- need limited wifi-- and will absolutely pay gratuities) Being in Elite class: 1-- Can we still get a diet coke or water during Happy Hour? 2-- Do we still receive 90 minutes each on wifi ? 3-- I hope they will automatically add the gratuities to my account ---or, do I have to arrange it myself? ( I have no patience to stand in line behind people complaining about nonsense and removing gratuities ) 4-- LOL---On our last cruise a few yrs ago " you know who " ordered a scoop of gelato --The Server put two scoops into a dish -- however, when I said we were Elite, she removed a scoop --so, are we still "entitled" to one scoop or have they changed the Policy to two?
  24. Not when you take 2 mulligans on the 1st tee, move the ball away from a tree , and take a gimmee on a 4ft downhill ,sidehill , putt !!!! It's also not cheating when you meet someone on a cruise and tell them you have a 4 hcp after they tell you they have a 6.
  25. 13 pages of the same crap --- That's the best one !! (Please ---no " Who are you to judge which is the Best one " comments).
