  1. I can see it now people hiding their unwanted tiles around the ships like the cruise rubber ducks.πŸ™‚
  2. Well I took that Legend cruise last May only because I was offered a "free" balcony on a casino deal. The casino was so crowded I just collected the $50 they offered for the casino as part of the deal and spent it elsewhere.
  3. You would think that CCL would leave a multi-language copy of the Bartenders Bible around so they would at least have a clue.πŸ™‚
  4. I totally agree and maybe its just the angle of the photo but it looks like they shaved off the depth and made it truly now into just like an old cardboard beer coaster.
  5. The Carnival Pride is scheduled for a dry dock from 4/26-5/27, not sure what is scheduled but it is a long one. It's last one was for two weeks back in February of 2019 when they put in some new carpeting and tiling in the lounges and public areas. They also relocated and renovated the arcade which replaced the chapel and library and The Cove replaced the original area of the arcade. The Pride has always been a good ship for CCL. I sailed it couple of times out of Baltimore around 10 years ago and do agree that it's dΓ©cor was over the top. I was on the CCL Legend out of Baltimore last May and yes there was still loudness and crowding around the main pool area and long lines in the lido but the Serenity pool area was much quieter and the MDR was good with anytime dining. The Red Frog Pub filled every night for an excellent rock/pop band that played all types of music from the 60's-00's. Btw, the Pride was so popular over the years in Baltimore that CCL is bringing it back up to there in 2024. Here is a link to a recent 4k walkthrough of the ship. https://youtu.be/Bi3tAQdWu4E
  6. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2888244-bus-will-miss-ship-departure-in-costa-rica-tonight/#elShareItem_826985296_menu Here is the link to the original post about this event and responses made to it on a thread in this forum from 4 months ago including some first hand information about it at the time.
  7. https://cruiseradio.net/holland-america-poster-design-contest/ Glad to see that the 150 years tile is out there and I'm sure the design team was told to "keep it simple" but it is definitely barebones for such an important event and looks like something that could have been done on a phone app! So maybe that is why they are now looking for outside help for the poster designπŸ€”
  8. Well if I'm stranded at a port by HAL make it be Honolulu's.πŸ™‚
  9. Having trouble with their Windows 7 updates again I see.πŸ™ƒ
  10. My biggest take away in comparing the two ads is, after 35 years they all got a little gray. πŸ™‚
  11. Your right my mistake only 11 ships in the HAL fleet but only 5 will be 20+ years old in 2024. If you read the post about the RCCL and NCL numbers, it looks like NCL has the newest fleet and more in their pipeline coming if their $$ hold up.
  12. Also here are the numbers for RCCL, 26 ships with 13 that will be 20+ years old in 2024 and NCL, 18 ships with 6 that will be 20+ years old in 2024.
  13. Just some facts because as you said, "we no longer accept the BS being floated around by some cruise lines(and posters)". HAL has 12 ships, 6 of which will be 20+ years old in 2024, CCL has 24 ships, 12 of which will be 20+ years old in 2024, and Princess has 15 ships, 6 of which will be 20+ years old in 2024. So 51 ships with 24 being 20+ years old soon= 47%. The CCL number is only Carnival originals and does not include the two Costa ships that they have transferred over to Carnival for use. Costa though still has two more ships that are currently anchored and not in use but are do back in service in the coming months.
  14. I haven't seen a detailed site like that one for the HAL plates. Besides the inaugural ones there are the world cruise ones too that have been made over many years. Like the tiles they can usually be found for auction/sale at sites like Ebay and Etsy.
  15. https://tonrijppaert.nl/en/ Here is a detailed site about the HAL tiles
  16. https://jobs.carnivalcorp.com/search-jobshttps://hollandamericagroup.pinpointhq.com/holland-america-line I agree, but filling some of those job openings on land may be affecting what happens on the water. Anyways here ya go. Scroll down for a listing of the current job openings by country/region. Note: because it's hyphenated you may have to type in the address.
  17. https://jobs.carnivalcorp.com/search-jobs This is the official link for land based employment opportunities for Carnival Corp. Interesting that in this area alone HAL has 57 current openings which is more than double than that of most of the other brands. Carnival itself has 43.
  18. How are songs from a dated tv show and a trendy pop artist from the late 70's to mid 80's appealing to millennials who were young children at that time or not even born yet? Oh and speaking of children, Virgin doesn't even want you taking your children or grands with you!
  19. I agree, and you can get that $1 refunded back to you if you cancel early. Just think of what you could do with that extra dough.πŸ˜„
  20. One fancy Filet-O-Fish sandwich to go please🐟
  21. After 2 or 3 weeks in Hawaii you may not want to return.πŸ™‚
  22. They are already getting ideas and advice on here daily from 100's of people for free if they choose to read it.
  23. I agree and following up on Bostonjetset's suggestion I looked at the feasibility of it. Currently many transatlantic repositioning cruises(in both directions)use stops at Bermuda and the Azores as they cross the Atlantic with most of them involving Southern Florida ports, and a few NYC. From FLL it usually is 8 days or 7 days from NYC to the Azores with the stop in Bermuda. Boston is nearly 1,000 nautical miles closer to the Azores than FLL. A trip from Boston direct to the Azores without the obligatory stop in Bermuda seems very doable in 5 to 6 days. So lets say a 14-15 day roundtrip from Boston with three days at Ponta Delgada(the furthest Eastern port), Praia Da Vitoria, and Horta in the Azores.
  24. I agree on the round trip Greenland cruise from Boston. If CCL can do it in 14 days from Baltimore, there is no doubt that it can be done in even less time than that from Boston or even New York...The Azores are a very popular land destination so yes doing even a one off round trip would be nice...Forget Hamilton as most of the major lines ships including HAL's are really too large now to navigate through Two Rock Passage into the city. Sadly, the Zaandam and Volendam at 778ft are just 28ft too large for the docks there too.
  25. That's good to know. So maybe if I play some music selections on my end from the Best of Yoko Ono it might push them to respond back quicker. Just a thought...πŸ˜€
