  1. Well there is one thing that people can't say changed post-covid. Maybe they are dealing with music supply chain shortages.🙂
  2. Thanks! I'm exhausted just reading that list. I think I will stick to the basics like how many pairs of socks and underwear to pack.🙂
  3. https://youtu.be/XSWWd6-gxUg Here is a recently posted video review and tour of the Volendam.
  4. Ahh, seems reasonable that Loch Ness excursions can not be found!😀 I just did a cursory search of the HAL website for cruises that have Loch Ness excursions from Invergordon, Scotland and your 5 day one was listed as one. I have no idea why it can't be booked.
  5. Yes, but there are only two consistently doing it, NCL and it's Oceania cruise line. NCL stops there for a full day going both South and North on its PC cruises. Because of Acapulco's history from the past as being a popular tourist destination I'm surprised CCL and RCCL and their various lines don't consider stopping there on longer voyages or world cruises.
  6. There could be a few that fall asleep during the Main Dining Room dinner.😀
  7. Still 8 stops scheduled for Bar Harbor in '24 (there are 11 scheduled for '23). They have added Rockland, Maine as another tender port for the other 3 stops.
  8. My analogy was meant to emphasize that the milk (prepaid for or not) like the cabana was just a small part of their cruise overall. Though important to them it means nothing to a billion dollar corporation like CCL so why expect a better response. In the end they were dealing with failures by two billion dollar corporations CCL and SWA. One provided them with a better level of satisfaction in their response to it but as the sun rises today both remain billion dollar corporations and no threads on these forums are going to change that. Think for example Carnival Triumph and Costa Concordia both major failures to say the least, yet CCL continues to exist for our enjoyment and disparagement.
  9. I would imagine you could just refare the bookings or cancel them with a PCC and have them immediately reenter the new bookings for the same rooms at the new rate and pay the new down payment expected at that time.
  10. Right. So that would be like having a large grocery store hold for you one of the last gallons of milk but when you go down to the store to get it the clerk in dairy has sold it to someone else. So now you feel they need to make up for their mistake by giving you at least a cow if not the whole dairy farm!
  11. For anyone who was debating or still trying to figure out and compare the math on the $1 deposit promotion, HAL has extended it to a second day(as they usually do)and it is now scheduled to end today(1/18).
  12. For some it will and for some it won't, depending on a number of factors, and if you cancel months from now before fp your only losing a buck! Just remember nothing cost a dollar anymore even at the dollar stores.🤔
  13. Yes the Oosterdam's three consecutive 22 day cruises to Antarctica starting on December 7, 2023 are available to book for the $1 deposit, along with the solar eclipse cruises, Hawaii, South Pacific, and Australia too. Nothing past April of '24 though, which means not that hot 28 day Alaska Solstice cruise in June or the '24 VOV.
  14. Welcome to the first Cabana Capers thread of the new year folks. HAL and it's customers really need to figure out if these fancy tents are really worth the investment that is being made by the company and it's customers in them. For every positive experience with them described on here comes a negative one, and we all know that the negative ones quickly get magnified.
  15. That is great news for the fans of HAL's two smaller ships remaining, the Zaandam and Volendam. Barring any unforeseen circumstances they will likely continue to sail though at least 2024.
  16. That was posted only in response to leerathje's post about the drop in crab stock levels in the Alaskan waters. I am aware that the MDR's do not serve Maine Lobster, but you certainly can enjoy it off ship especially if you come to New England and take a cruise from here.
  17. https://www.npr.org/2023/01/04/1146637583/maine-lobster-industry-wins-reprieve-but-environmentalists-say-whales-will-die Here is the very latest news from New England on the lobster industry in Maine...
  18. That's like the seafood version of White Castle sliders! Definitely will need at least a six-pack of tails.
  19. Thanks! With your stamp of approval who knows?
  20. In the summer of 2016 HAL had scheduled an itinerary which I had booked beyond the usual 7 day Boston to Montreal and back route that was going to take the Maasdam into stops in Newfoundland over like 10-11 days. Sadly that ended up being cancelled as did other itineraries on other cruise lines because the hot spot became Cuba. In the last couple of years they have started adding a couple of longer cruises with stops in Newfoundland and even beyond to Greenland and Iceland ports. As interesting as the trip down the St. Lawrence River to Quebec City and Montreal is, it would be nice if they once or twice did a cruise that went from Boston to Halifax and Sydney, Nova Scotia, stopping at Prince Edward Island, and then proceeding to a sort of 3/4 circumnavigation of Newfoundland starting at Corner Brook on the west coast, then north to Red Bay, Labrador and east to St. Anthony and cruising the north coast around to St. Johns on the east coast. Before heading back to Boston stopping at the French island of St. Pierre et Miquelon just south of Newfoundland and then Portland, Maine. It is essentially taking the 25 day cruise that the Zaandam is doing this summer to Newfoundland, Greenland, and Iceland but eliminating the Greenland and Iceland stops which are sandwiched in the middle and ending up with an interesting lets say 11-12 day Best of Newfoundland cruise.
  21. Right! Go back on here in the NCL forum and read about the earliest days on NCL's Pride Of America in Hawaii in 2005 (I was on it's 6th cruise) when the crew was American and spoke English just like most of the passengers yet very often things were lost in translation.
  22. I agree but not every story in life can be told in a TikTok!
  23. I would join the Roll Call for this cruise on here. It has been active for a while and surely will pick up in the coming months.
  24. Check out this current thread in this forum...richwmn Goes around the world in a daze...for details on a cruise on the HAL Zuiderdam in the Caribbean right now.
