  1. Looks like you did better than just a duck. That looks like one of those with the bubbles that you push and they make a click or snap sound. Kind of like popping bubble padding.
  2. Words every son-in-law longs to hear: "So those were the baby pictures; now let's look at the cruise pictures... ".😉.
  3. I believe you are correct about the dishes. We've never had a steward take glasses or dishes and always just assumed they went outside. I think the idea is YOU decide when you are finished with something rather than having the steward guess if you are really finished with that half full glass or that plate with one cookie left on it.
  4. You aren't the first to note the room stewards on Celebration trying to force morning service. We generally sail on Glory, and since we sail about once a month, except in the summer, and book rooms in the same area we often have the same steward a number of times in a row. We have received some subtle pressure to have the room done in the morning but so far they have accommodated our "after 10am" request. I'm a night owl, but the announcements at 9 don't let me sleep as late as I sleep at home so after 10 works for us. I guess 9 is the regulation time to get up on Carnival troop ships. 😁
  5. Any luck with Matilda? Neither DW or I have ever gotten Matilda and only a few times things like "fill my bag", "hot seat" and whatever they call the thing where they have drawings every hour with unclaimed winnings carried over. 99% of the time neither of us selected.
  6. When you post in a thread you automatically follow (but you can unfollow). Following gives you notifications on new posts in the thread and when you click on the notification takes you to the new posts (though you can also have it not notify you). Look at the top to the right of the thread title. If you see a check mark next to "Follow" you are following. Click on that and you can adjust things like notifications.
  7. If you are gambling while looking out the window you aren't doing it right...
  8. I agree! It is ridiculous what all you need. My wife was in the same boat as far as finding something else with her name and address on it. Luckily they said her concealed carry permit would be acceptable.
  9. Shiny things don't do anything for me either. But in my younger days I bought a lot of shiny things and traded them for warm things...
  10. This article says the President of Carnival, Christine Duffy, has launched a personalized Effy jewelry collection aboard the Carnival Celebration. You might check it out. https://cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/2022/11/carnival-president-to-launch-effy-jewelry-collection-aboard-carnival-celebration/
  11. Sid who is doing "Celebration! / Live! / Solo! Dec-4-11-2022" is a bit jealous I think. He didn't know Sahq was on board till someone pointed out your sighting 😆
  12. I'm looking forward to following along. If you are on an Ultra then you will be spending time in the casino. I'll be interested in your impressions. We spend a lot of time in casinos but few reviews cover them. Let us know how crowded it is at peak times and just average times for example. We went on an Ultra on the Vista shortly after it moved to Galveston. At least at that time the casino was tiny and there was almost never a machine open and everything was jammed together. That is one of several reason we refuse to sail Vista class. And how far are the bathrooms from the casino. Again on Vista you would be wise to wear hiking boots. Things like that be they good or bad would be good to know. Of course the ease of getting drinks and how often drinks waiters come by is critical. 😄
  13. I would ask about it. I believe it is the casino side rather than Carnival who does this. Try this site to make your inquiry: https://oceanplayersclub.com/contact/balance-request/ Most companies have more checks and balances the higher the amount involved. $1,800 will probably take longer than $100.
  14. That was a testament to this guy's strength and endurance. But don't think of someone straight up and down in the water using hands and legs to keep the head above water. Think of floating on your back. In my younger days I spent a lot of time in the gulf from swimming off beaches to scuba diving under platforms. I could float on my back for considerable lengths of time if the water was calm with just gentle swells. It is easier to float in salt water than in a pool, but usually the roughness of the gulf water makes it harder to breath. Just a though. I couldn't have done it for as long as this guy even in my prime. Maybe if my life depended on it?
  15. The deck 3 railing on the Valor is four foot tall, possibly a bit less. I've leaned on it but not measured it. But with a good lunge and one hand pulling on the railing I could go over. It is plenty high to prevent accidental falls though.
  16. Oh! What the heck! Since this is a speculation thread I'll go ahead and throw out my pure speculation. 1. I think he fell from deck 3. He did not suffer major injuries from the fall and that would be consistent with deck 3 which is the lowest open deck, 2. he was leaning against the railing with something in his hands that fell overboard from his hands and he lunged to grab it, but lunged a bit too far so his center of gravity as over the rail, 3. he either remembers what happened and is following the example of politicians and government officials when they don't want to admit something by saying the impossible to disprove "I don't remember," or was too drunk or high to remember. 4. I think it is all and example of stuff happens.
  17. Maybe he flushed the toilet while sitting on it?
  18. And Taddese remembers you, or at least your suitcase. He looks thrilled to be hauling it again.
