  1. We sail the Glory regularly and it is like Elsammo46 said; two formal nights and rules not heavily enforced. We used to skip formal nights as that is not really our thing but since Lido deck has become less appetizing and more crowded we eat dinner in the MD every night we're not at the steak house. I now bring a pair of khaki pants to wear on formal night along with a polo shirt. Lots dressed like me and lots dressed more formal.
  2. Well that kind of makes the "generation" part irrelevant. But my generation, the "Boomers" is the ultimate "me" generation of the 20th, and so far 21st, centuries. We are the ones who gave ourselves expanded and indexed Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and welfare without paying for it and leaving the cost to future generations. We are the generation that greatly reduced the percent of the cost of college paid for by government and replaced it with loans to be paid for by the future generations of college students, and on and on...
  3. I can't speak for others, but to me there are two different issues. The first issue is who did wrong? I agree with you that everybody did wrong including the four guys and Carnival. The second issue is what can be done about it? This is where I think the "grey" comes in. Carnival has a duty of care. Put another way, they can by contract require you to refrain from harassing or assaulting others but the other side of that contract is that they take reasonable measures to protect you from harassment or assault by others. Carnival appears to have failed on its end (security way too slow to respond, and nothing says only security can respond) so they may feel they are open to quite possibly successful litigation against them if they fine or detain the four guys. But if they were really, really serious about stamping out violence they would go ahead and lock-up, fine, and ban and take any legal loss as part of the cost of business. If they wanted do something but were only serious when there was no cost to them they would not lock-up or fine but would ban from future cruises based on their violent behavior. So "grey." But to me that is not the biggest concern. The biggest concern is the possibility that Carnival's policy is that only security can confront misbehaving passengers and the possibility security works the same way as most police forces in that they only care after something violent happens. Where were the casino managers yelling "get out of here, we have called security?"
  4. Looks can be deceiving. One of my sons worked in the Tampico area for a year. While he was there the National Guard came in and did lie detector tests on all the local police. Over half the local police were fired. Counting on the Mexican police to protect you is like counting on the French in a war. But, if you don't look too well off and don't go looking for drugs your chances of trouble are fairly low.
  5. Let's hope he did, but unfortunately Carnival doesn't tell such things. That conveniently hides when their actions don't match their words. What I find most concerning is that security didn't show up to the table when called. That left the guys being taunted with no shelter from the abuse. While I think what they did was wrong, I think Carnival's failure in its duty to protect them from abuse is a valid mitigating factor in their favor.
  6. Some people would witness a child being murdered and just mind their own business. I appreciate you letting us know what types of things are happening on Carnival ships and how Carnival responds.
  7. We really all watched nothing happen in a soccer game for 90 minutes earlier today and then college football does this. https://*****.com/22ab6rfj
  8. If you consider every country except the U.S. third world. I don't think Russia, the EU, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand... agree with that.
  9. I don't understand why it makes any difference if such behavior is due to drink, drugs or mental illness. It is unacceptable behavior and those who do such things should be banned.
  10. When I look at our boarding passes from pre-covid cruises I see we had arrival times, but I recall we just ignored those and went when we wanted and went straight on board. If they are going back to the old way I would expect the same thing.
  11. The best advice for all cruises is to make your best plans then bring twice the money and half the clothes.
  12. You've been reading the wrong threads. It has been great lately. You should have been following Megan's "Scarlet Lady- 11/16-11/20- LIVE" thread. I know, Virgin Voyages, but she's a Carnival regular. Gotta branch out from Carnival threads to avoid whining. Carnival folks have a abnormal amount to whine about with Carnival converting to running troop ships and all (complete with someone blaring over speakers to make sure you get up by regulation time).😁 But enough of my whining...
  13. I have not been a fan of Carnival's cutbacks at all. But while their implementation sounds a bit off (a small portion of pasta as a side should be accommodated) I have seen a number of jerks since reopening. Perhaps they were always there and it is just since reopening I have noticed, but on at least five cruises since reopening we have observed couples each ordering two or three entrees, eating a little of each and leaving the rest. One couple, with no prompting from us, told us they like to try everything so they order everything and take a few bites of each. So I understand what probably prompted this. However the sides that come with the entrees have become very small. When I have the brisket I have taken to asking for an extra helping of potatoes since I like to put a little brisket and a little potato on the fork for each bite. That has not been a problem. They bring the entree plate and a small bowl with just potatoes at the same time. I would think that is different than ordering multiple entrees and if they refused that it would make no sense. But the bottom line is that when confronted with a large number of boorish customers they have to draw some lines.
  14. Thanks for having us along. Looking forward to your next adventure. Get home and rest up for it.
  15. The balcony rooms on deck 11 of the Glory have sliding balcony doors:
  16. Since you mentioned 10... When I retired I stopped setting the alarm clock and went to bed when I felt like it. After a couple of months of that it was obvious my natural sleep pattern was to go to bed around 1:30 and wake up about 10. Unfortunately I can't keep those hours even retired. Too many things conspire to force folks up early. On a Carnival ship it is the CD spouting nonsense over the speakers at 9 am...
  17. I suspect she likes to talk to drag queens. I spent a few years in New Orleans and I have to say there is no better source of makeup and fashion tips. Plus, those I knew had wicked senses of humor. Why was I hanging around drag queens? Those were my hippy days in the French Quarter. Met lots of intriguing people.
  18. Now THERE is a phrase I will add to my vocabulary. "She has legs worth spreading..."
  19. Looking at all these pictures, I just have to ask - Are there any passengers on this ship?
  20. I agree. I generally say it is descriptive rather than predictive. I find it of no use in predicting a trend change but once an impulsive move is well established I find it somewhat useful for anticipating the final shape of the impulse. But it is all probabilities, not certainties. It is much more important to recognize when what you anticipated isn't happening and get out and to recognize when what you anticipated is happening and let it ride.
  21. You could well be right. I don't really use Elliott Wave theory, but once one knows they are in an impulsive move I do find it somewhat predictive of the overall shape of things to come. Having warned folks not to put much reliance on Elliott Wave, I'm pretty sure we are in an impulsive move and I think there is a significant probability the overall shape of the impulsive move down is, and will be, this:
  22. Looking at the chart pattern my best guess is that CCL will bottom in the $3.50 to 4.50 area after making a new low from its all time high, then having a bit of a bounce then the final low. But anything can happen. Who knows, the Saudis could make a tender offer to take it private at $20 a share. That would actually be a good deal for them. The price is so low due to the potential for bankruptcy. Without that hanging over CCL the shares would probably be trading above $20.
