  1. Not to jump into a 40 page thread in the middle...but to jump into a 40 page thread - I've read a bit of what you all have discussed. I'm interested in purchasing stock, but obviously want the best possible deal. Originally I was thinking that I'd buy when the stock hits $10, but now that we're there I'm wondering how low it can go due to: COVID, recession fears, inflation, war with Russia, oil prices, and so many other variables Do you have a bottom number in mind? Or will you be guestimating the bottom? If stocks hit rock bottom (sub $5/share) do you think a hostile or friendly takeover will occur? What does that do to stock prices - I suppose drives them up, but in this new economy I don't know.
  2. I'm a fat cow (I think I've mentioned this before) and was so afraid of not having enough food at meals when I was on NCL. Then, upon being on the ship, I could only stomach two meals a day. So much food is offered at meals - now if I'm paying extra for Chef's Table, I'd be starving myself the entire day (really more like letting my digestive system catch up from the day before) and expect an absolute feast! Alas...I don't enjoy moderation as told by my large waistline.
  3. My husband was able to order a Cappuccino in the Haven Restaurant. I enjoyed the French Press, but he likes the taste of foamy milk.
  4. Quoting myself like the egomaniac I am! Now that the price is almost under $10 I don't know if I should purchase. Are we going back to March 2020 prices of $7 and change? Definitely want to buy at the bottom...whenever that may be!
  5. But it's ok if it's me! It's all the other slobs that make it terrible *please read the dry sarcasm in this post...I'm not serious y'all*
  6. Don't expect free drinks delivered by the butler. Yes it is possible, but it is ultimately up to the butler/concierge. If you read the rules, it is not allowed - you are supposed to be charged for drinks delivered to the room/fridge. It's amazing @wolft927 was provided with this perk - just don't get upset if you're charged.
  7. If the stock goes under $10/share I may purchase...just want to buy as low as it'll go. Definitely not buying it if it's over $15 as I don't know if I'll ever cruise 15 times. Ten times is doable, but 15 seems like a lot of cruising!
  8. Getaway Penthouse Haven Suite king size bed did not split. I'd suggest putting a divider on the bed - it's more than spacious for two not romantically involved...and you absolutely want to cruise Haven! Any other way is no good.
  9. Based on your trepidation, this sounds like a good decision. When you do cruise, enjoy!
  10. I lost my card (found it after the cruise). I contacted the county DOH where I live in NY. They supplied a printout of all three shots for me. I felt better about this than the Excelsior pass. Good luck!
  11. Can we throw tipping advice for the Haven into this post to really bring on the popcorn lovers? Yum, yum!
  12. As of right now (6/9) there is no need for a booster. The J&J shot is good as it is a full vaccination. You can fill out the travel authorization form up to 30 days before your cruise - then they will send you a link four days in advance of your departure to upload your negative test, though this is no longer required. You can just bring the negative test result to the port. Not sure about physical card - we used our physical cards, well mine was a printout from the county health department. No clue about the last question, but there are a ton of posts on this forum about people who were quarantined and what their experience was like.
  13. An electronic version of the test is acceptable as well. At least it was in April when we booked. We received our results on Saturday, cruise was on Sunday. We had nowhere to print the documents so just showed it from our email. As to the rest of your requirements, yes that is all correct.
  14. Unless the leather is for some bedroom fun, please don't wear leather. In the humid, foggy North Atlantic you'll just see your leather clothing get wet, stinky, and possibly ruined (probably not on a week-long cruise). If you have crisp, sunny days all will be well with the leather...I've taken a Canada/New England cruise and it was far from ideal - so foggy the ship blew the horn every couple minutes for hours on end.
  15. Good luck getting an answer from NCL! Or getting any type of compensation for missing a port. It is what it is....I hope I'm wrong, but am guessing every other cruise line is like this too or NCL wouldn't think they can get away with it. Given bookings are up and on board spend is up, I don't see any end to their crappy customer service (if one can even call it service).
  16. It better be one hell of a burger and shake! The prices....holy crap - $19 for a plain ole burger and $13 for a shake, plus throw in $8 for some fries. It is prime beef, but dang I could buy a quarter cow for that...ok not really. 🙂 To bring it back to cruising - reminds me of the insane prices specialty restaurants charge on NCL. I just can't see going on a ship with a host of free food and then paying those prices for mediocre grub. Alas, I'm dragging us further and further from the point - leave it to say, Vegas is no longer a bucket list destination for me.
  17. Please repeat this phrase in my ear when a friend suggests going there for a day while we're road trippin' through the desert!
  18. Took a bit to respond - that work thing got in the way of my posting. I've been to a few of the locations you've mentioned. Thankfully Vegas was ever only a pit stop on a trip to national parks. I've never gone to Vegas just to be in Vegas. I haven't been to Fremont St. or to those museums. I'm not really a fan of kitschy. I didn't even enjoy Wall Drug in South Dakota! But, your post is spot on! One can, and should, find those things that seem enticing and seek them out. Vegas ain't for everyone, just as Santiago ain't for everyone. Thanks DON!
  19. You will need to take a look at each country you'll be visiting - looks like just the Bahamas. My husband is a permanent resident as well - he needed to bring his foreign passport and green card. We had his state issued ID (not REAL ID compliant) which was also requested. We traveled to Bermuda and they don't have any additional visa requirements since he's a permanent resident - my guess is your GF will be fine as well since she's from a Schengen area country. NCL has a webpage which will direct you to the requirements for green card holders. Here's the page - you can follow a link on this page to each nation's individual requirements.
  20. I haven't experienced a Haven outside of the Getaway, however I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the Getaway's Haven! From what I have heard/seen on YouTube, the restaurant is smaller and doesn't have outdoor dining like some Havens. Also, the lounge/bar area is small. There isn't an observation lounge like the larger Havens, but gosh I absolutely loved my time onboard!
  21. I'm not sure about balcony cabins. My Haven suite on the Getaway did have hard pods - these were the Nespresso type pods. There wasn't a K-cup machine available. I would much prefer use my Breville machine, but the Nespresso was adequate. I certainly had no need to purchase burned Starbucks coffee!
  22. I think it's because you ladies are sometimes highly encouraged to wear heels and no one should ever be encouraged to try those things on! So us men have to always hide our feet (plus our feet do look nasty). But...I'll continue wearing my flippy floppies.
  23. Oh no! You asked the dreaded question! How dare you ask what others tip or what the formula is. It's but a personal choice...so say those who answer this question on every post it's asked on. My husband and I tipped the concierge $100, the butler $50, room steward, servers (only the ones we were closest to), and Haven restaurant host $25. Maitre'd got nothing, because he was unhelpful and appeared to get in the way of the staff every time we saw him. Yes, that's for a week's worth of service. Are we cheap? Maybe to you - they seemed grateful we at least provided a tip. I've seen some individuals state you are not worthy of the Haven if you don't tip a minimum of $100/day to your butler. I say rubbish to that! And so, that was our formula.
  24. Oooooops!!! You are so totally correct @KeithJenner! I stand corrected and appreciate you setting the record straight.
  25. Oh Gary, I'm just kidding! Trust me, I totally respect your advice and would not have had nearly as great a time without your posts. You're the real "Rock Star King" of the Cruise Critic boards to me!
