  1. Good morning friends! I've been trying to keep up here with our ship Wi-fi while I still have it. Congrats to @AncientWandereron that new little GS. The parents are probably happy he was in such a big hurry, as long as they made it to the hospital on time. Debby @dfishI'm hoping to hear some good news from you later, that all went well and you're feeling okay. While I was typing I see you posted. Good luck!! Last night I WhatsApped my twin and asked how Buddy was doing because last I heard he had a bone scan that showed "something". She said he had a biopsy which showed the same cancer as his throat cancer. He's been in so much pain he hadn't slept in forever. Yesterday the oncologist said take him to to Mercy Hospital about 50 minutes from her house and the ER would be ready for him. They have tried morphine, Dilaudid, and Valium with a pain patch which finally let him sleep. A Neurologist was coming in to see him and possibly do back surgery. No new reports this morning. I'm worried to death about him. Dining has been a real issue onboard. They might not have enough crew to handle this many guests. Long waits in line to get into lunch in MDR or even dinner. Lucky for us we arranged a certain table at a set time so I'm thankful for that. But I see so many people waiting in line for a table each night. Yesterday at lunch we waited 40 minutes to get into the MDR to eat. They were running around like crazy trying to get us all fed. Food has been only average too. At least we don't have to prepare it and clean up afterwards, though. Hoping they work out the kinks as we go along. Take care everyone!
  2. Hello family! We had a lovely day in Halifax today with dry weather. As we sailed away I was able to take some photos of the Zaandam which was docked nose to nose with us all day. I thought I'd share with y'all. We made a U-turn around this little island across from downtown Halifax. And here's the BHB with the Halifax skyline in the background. Nothing but ocean from now until Reykjavik on Sunday, June 5. We should get a lot of relaxation in between now and then. Thanks to DH for letting me use his new "netbook" or whatever this tiny laptop is because it's so much easier to post photos to show you. Good evening to all.
  3. Happy Memorial Day! Honoring those who served and fallen heroes. Thank you @HAL4NOWand DW for donating blood today. Island Princess is docking in Halifax as I type. We will enjoy a day on shore then 5 more sea days. I really need the exercise. Have a great day everyone!
  4. An update on internet. We stopped after lunch at the Internet Cafe and one of the young men there looked at my phone settings and toggled a button there. Suddenly internet was back on the IPhone! Since I don't remember changing anything after Friday I have no idea what the problem was, but internet service is back on the phone even while I stay safe with Airplane mode on. It's a joy to be able to check in here occasionally during the day to make sure you are all doing okay. I can't promise anything after leaving Halifax and heading to Reykjavik though! Five more sea days. Toodles as Linda Minnikin used to say!
  5. Good morning friends! We are still sailing towards Halifax where Roy is stopping today, and it seems like we've been at it for days. We have been! Unfortunately we have no internet on our IPhones (yesterday and today) but the laptops and IPads seem to be receiving it. I just wanted to come by and say hi to all my friends here and tell you I miss everyone. ❤️ Thanks to Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser for posting my photos the other day. I see today is a port we've had before but I don't know which day. I'm sure Lenda can handle it, if she has time to post. Thanks to Rich and Roy for posting for us each day and each and every contributor here. I hope everyone is well, and I will continue to pray that all will improve and feel comfort. 🙏 I've enjoyed meeting Kay and Jim @kb4683and we both wish more Dailyites were on board with us. By the way DH and I have the drink package here on Princess and believe me we are not keeping up with the 15 drinks per day! We must be light-weights! I'm going to sit with the Knitters and Knatters ladies this morning and work on a cross stitch Christmas stocking. DH and I were supposed to go to the Most Traveled Guest Luncheon at noon today but "due to unforeseen circumstances" it has been postponed until next Saturday. I saw the Loyalty hostess's office was closed yesterday so I hope she hasn't come down with Covid and that is the reason for the delay. Oh dear! Take care everyone, and bon voyage to Sharon and DH!
  6. Hi! Definitely supposed to leave at 6 now. Captain says 1872 on board. And DH changed into a grey T instead of his green polo. Kay found me anyway even though he changed clothes! 😂
  7. Judging by the amount of crates sitting on the dock we will NOT be leaving at 4 pm. And we’ve been waiting for hours for our luggage so I guess the earlier you arrive the later your luggage arrives at your door. I’ll do my best to be cognizant of our departure so I don’t miss sailaway waving. However dinner is scheduled for 7:20 so if it’s that late, sorry for missing it. 🤷‍♀️ Kay @kb4683if I don’t find you at the meet and greet we’re in C527 so you can leave me a message if you want. 🚢
  8. Good morning friends! I’m typing on my IPhone so please bear with me on any typos. I read yesterday and today’s Daily so would like to thank you all for your Bon Voyage wishes. I have decided I will wave to the Port Everglades webcam people today when Island Princess leaves FLL, scheduled for 4 pm but who knows when it will actually happen. We’re the only ship in port. My balcony is on starboard side so I plan on standing on the port side top deck under the Island Princess sign. I’ll be wearing a dark pink tee and if DH is there he has on a sage green polo shirt. It should be fun! We got an email this morning from Princess saying due to new rules on hauling heavy fuel in Spitsbergen territorial waters that stop has been cancelled. We are going to Alta and Lofoten Islands instead. Major disappointment since that is a major highlight of this cruise. We were there once already fortunately. Prayers said today for all the families of those stricken in Uvalde, all teachers and students hurting because of the horrible news, our Daily family and all the people of Ukraine. My DD is a fourth grade teacher and she says yesterday was hard. Today is the last day for her students. Then hopefully a full summer of happy fun times - the same thing those Texas kids were planning on. May they rest in peace. Thanks to Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiserfor posting my photos yesterday for beautiful Oslo. Today is Dalian and I have photos of that visit too though not so beautiful. 😉 LOL Miss you all!
  9. @TiogaCruiserhappy birthday wishes to your DH! Gerry, I know, I am devastated to hear of that sick person killing so many innocent people, mostly small children. Your sentiments are exactly right and said so well. Thank you for that.
  10. Thanks for your help. I went to the Medallion app and uploaded the vax cards and test results. I'm going to make a hard copy of the QR code that Walgreen's sent us. Thanks for that reminder. See you on the ship! I'm planning on the M&G so let's search each other out.
  11. Thanks Joy! I will miss all of my CC Daily friends as well along with you and your beloved.❤️
  12. Okay, DH called and waited on hold for the pharmacy, and finally the woman answers. He asks her if she knows what happened to his results since I already had mine. She said "Oh I just got busy. You'll get the results soon!" Can you believe it? Busy doing the front register and delaying sending out Covid test results. Obviously just a technician and not the pharmacist. Five excruciating minutes later the results arrived. NEGATIVE like mine. So finally I can relax a little bit. My poor stomach with all this stress! Thanks for your support everyone. @kb4683 Kay, do you know if I need to do anything with our negative results, like on the Princess Medallion app? I haven't even thought that far ahead.
  13. I am a nervous wreck here! The woman at Walgreen's said 2 to 3 hours (website says 2 hours). My results came back NEGATIVE at 11:11 am. YAY! It's been 2+ hours since we took the test, and 50 minutes since my results came back, but DH's still haven't come in! At 12:50 it will be 3 hours and if they don't come back by then, he is going to call them. He may have to test again. Cross fingers and say a prayer it's not lost!
  14. Congratulations! We just got home and are waiting for results.
  15. I want to cuddle her too. I wonder when we will get up to Ohio??
  16. We took our DD on a cruise in 2006 which stopped in Grenada. That day we took a tour and it ended up at the beach. She enjoys that but we rarely have a beach day unless it's Patrick's tour in Bora Bora. The second time was on a South American cruise (the one in 2015 that Lenda was on with us). I took another tour that day, DH stayed on the ship, and I took a lot more photos. In 2006 at the beach with DD. Me lying in the shade! St. Georges, Grenada on Feb. 6, 2015 as seen from the Ruby Princess. Many parts of the town still showed the damage from Hurricane Ivan in 2004 which devastated it. It wasn't time for my tour yet so we walked around the town early that morning. The island was celebrating Independence Day so we saw the red, yellow and green colors displayed all over. We also noticed a different way to sell your produce rather than a farmer's market; out of your truck. Later we started our tour by visiting Fort Frederick. The children were there to perform for us. View from the Fort. On our way to our next stop our bus passed by a local cemetery. We arrived at Dougaldston Spice Estate to learn how spices such as nutmeg, mace and cocoa are grown and processed the old-fashioned way, dried by the sun. The cocoa beans are laid out on these trays to dry in the sun, but can rolled right under the buildings when it rains. And a papaya tree. Next up was the Grand Etang Park and Annandale Farms. We walked down a trail to the falls. There were people there who would jump from the top into the water for a tip. Can you see the man in the yellow shorts waiting to jump? Splash! It happens fast! Eventually we headed back to St. Georges, but the traffic was so bad we just inched along when we got back to the town. If my memory is correct, the tour arrived back at the ship 25 minutes late. As soon as we all rushed back on board the Ruby Princess moved on to Port of Spain, Trinidad. Thank goodness it was a ship's tour!
  17. Good morning friends! Two hours until our rapid test appointments. Getting nervous! Thanks for the Daily Rich. Tiara Day sounds like a fun day to celebrate. I wish I had one. DH likes escargot but I won't touch it. I have one brother, and two half brothers one of whom won't speak to us. The other one is a good guy. I love the Bombeck quote but have to say no to our menu suggestion. Just doesn't appeal to me. St. Georges, Grenada was posted Oct. 2, 2021 and I have been there a few times. If I have time to post the previous pictures I will. Thank you Roy for the Care and Celebration lists. I've said my prayers today for all on the list, the people of Ukraine, my Covid test results, family members, and the state of this country. It is voting day here in Georgia but we did that in early voting so that wouldn't be on our schedule for today. Record breaking early voting here in Georgia which is something they predicted wouldn't happen. Hmmph! Cheers to everyone on the Celebration list. I am happy for everyone and to those cruising, happy sailing! DD sent me a few photos this morning and I have to share. Too cute! Mommy looks like a giant from way down here on this green stuff. I've got new toys! Mom's heading to school so guess I'll take a nap. After all, I was up half the night! I'll be back later. Have to get busy.
  18. Got it. Today I finished up the ArriveCAN app and got the QR code. Cruising used to be so much easier! Have fun!
  19. I finally did the same, and have a QR code. Thanks!
  20. Thanks for the reminder. I just signed into my account and got as far as which terminal or marina in Halifax and came to a complete stop. Is it the marine terminal or waterfront marina?
  21. Roy, I'm very sorry to hear of your friend Phil's passing. It's never easy when you hear that news. When is your stop in Halifax next cruise? We will be there Monday, May 30 on Island Princess.
  22. OMG! Just got a jury notice for me the week of June 20. I called the Clerk's office and told her not only was I going to be out of the country then, but I am over 70 years old. They very nicely said they could defer me due to age. Thank goodness that envelope arrived today and not after I leave. And not to mention the fact I don't have to show up at the Courthouse to sign anything. Too many people! I wouldn't mind doing jury service but not when I have a cruise booked. I have served before but that was quite a while ago.
  23. This happened to us on a Princess transfer from Bangkok to Laem Chabang to get on our ship. No AC on our bus! They stopped at a fuel station to buy cold water for us, but it was stifling in that bus, and the trip was almost 2 hours. You can imgine! Basically a metal tube with windows that didn't open. One man had so much sweat dripping off him there was a puddle under his seat. We all wrote our names and cabin numbers down and had people go to the shore excursion desk asking for a refund. They said there wouldn't be, but guess what, they did refund us the cost. Other buses had AC, ours was the only one that didn't.
  24. Good morning friends! I awoke to rain, followed by thunderstorms so we did our walks on the treadmill. Today is more packing day. I think since I've been home for 2 years and 4 months I should probably try on a few items to see if they still fit. I don't want to haul things along with me then not be able to fit into them. Tomorrow morning we head to Walgreen's for our tests, then things will really move into high gear, providing we are negative. I may be here asking how do I download this into my app?? Thanks to Rich for the Daily this morning. I do love turtles and would love to see them at the beaches sometime. Most of the time they are small ones trying to cross a road though. I am the one who is always spotting pennies as I walk. DH never does. I pick them up and hope for luck. Crohns and Colitis sufferers deserve our understanding and support. I hope the researchers can come up with some cures for those disabling diseases. Happy Victoria Day to all our Canadian friends on the Daily! Nice quote, and the salad looks delicious. 🍓 @kazuJacqui I love today's memes especially the passport one. Mine thinks I'm in prison too! @Crazy For CatsJake, Mona has trained you quite well.🐈@JAM37Julia, thanks to you (and everyone) for sweet comments about Sadie. DD is back at school today so DSIL will be keeping an eye on Sadie while he tries to work from home. He can take her outside since the rain in Ohio has stopped. It sounds like you had quite a fun day yesterday with Leo at the beach and pool. No wonder you slept so well. Sasebo (Nagasaki), Japan was port of the day Nov. 13, 2021. I haven't been there before and would appreciate any and all photos posted. Thanks Roy for taking care of the lists even while cruising. It looks beautiful in Bermuda right now. I see quite a lot of people getting off your ship. For all on the Care list prayers said for all. Ukraine is still in need of prayers and help so everyone is doing whatever they can for them. I'd better get busy now. Be back later!
