Anthem of the seas room 11310
TravelinTess replied to Vampiress88's topic in Royal Caribbean International
There is a link below the video with info on the room. There is a star when you look on the deck plan. A star denotes the room sleeps 4- it has a pull-out sofa bed. -

Tube pillow for airline travel
TravelinTess replied to Gunther1's topic in Saving Money on Your Cruise - Tips & Advice
I just took the pillow out of my $10 Amazon neck pillow and stuffed the case. It held my daughters pj's and underwear and could still be used as a pillow on the flight. -
Any Good food tours or cooking classes is Rome I should try?
TravelinTess replied to joyhannah's topic in Italy Ports
We took a small group pasta making class through Airbnb Experiences our first day in Rome and it was fantastic. -
Paying Gratuities Early
TravelinTess replied to Colorado Buffalo's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Depending on when you booked, you may be charged $16 per person, per night rather than the new rate of $18 if you call to prepay. -
I use them and save 10% by doing so. It really isn't a hassle at all, in my opinion. I buy them through AARP, they are emailed to me, I download the certs, then email each to RCI at the email they provide along with my booking and cabin numbers. It takes about 10 working days for the credit to hit, so you cannot wait up until the final hour to go through the process. They are only good towards the price of the cruise and not OBC. If you reprice and then are owed money but paid primarily with the certificates, they will refund to the card you used to make the initial deposit.

New to RCL - who ya gonna call?
TravelinTess replied to CaptJerry51's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I have had much luck with repricing our Norway cruise this summer- several decent price drops. If I am not getting anywhere with the agent, or have a hard time understanding what they are saying, I say 'sorry, someone is at the door' and then call back few minutes later. If you call M-F 9-5 you are more likely to get a knowledgeable agent. Good luck! -
I have found it is only worth it if you have tender ports and it is just a few dollars more than internet alone. I add the price of internet, a Chops lunch, and what I am willing to pay to avoid the frustration of waiting for a tender. That is how I decide but YMMV. The other "perks" like private time for the rock wall and such are offered at inconvenient times. Just my experience.

Excursions range from around $80 USD to over $500 USD, really depends on what you choose to do. In my experience, it is better to book as soon as you see something you want to do and reprice should the price drop. I have found the earlier I book, the less I pay. I also book through other tour operators so be sure to check out Viator and Get Your Guide. Rick Steves has a great video on cruising the Med that you may want to check out! You will have a credit card on file with the cruiseline, onboard expenses will be charged to that card. You can choose to pay cash as well. Just stop by the customer service desk once onboard if you go this route. I would avoid the first day- it gets busy 😀

Oddity over canceled Black Friday deal
TravelinTess replied to pyrateslife4me84's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I am currently dealing with a similar issue. I paid $300 I do not owe just to ensure my cruise would not be canceled. A Black Friday mess as well. -
Do kids need to have an ID card?
TravelinTess replied to jerick's topic in Royal Caribbean International
@vswan I cruise as a single parent and have never been asked for a notarized letter. My kids do not share my last name. That said, I do always carry a letter just in case. I did need it at Heathrow a couple of years ago. -
Anthem of the Seas - Balcony cabin
TravelinTess replied to neverprincess's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We prefer deck 10, mid ship. I would suggest a room that is not above/close to Music Hall. The bass carries well into the night. -

How To Check Balance On RCCL AARP Gift Card
TravelinTess replied to silversneakers's topic in Royal Caribbean International
The balance will go back to the card you used to pay the deposit. So, say you paid a $750 deposit when you booked the cruise and you have a $100 balance on the certificate after paying everything off, they will credit you $100 back to the card you used to pay the initial $750. I agree it is super confusing- try the MyVegas game rewards- those were nearly impossible for me to decipher and made these gift certificates read like a childrens book! -
How To Check Balance On RCCL AARP Gift Card
TravelinTess replied to silversneakers's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I have used the gift certificates on cruises booked 9+ months earlier- definately not new. I do make sure I send the certificates in no later than 3 week prior to final payment. I book directly through Royal and do not use a TA. Because I sail with three in a cabin, I was told by an agent with a reputable agency that I do not qualify for group rates on the cruises I have priced out, so I cannot speak to your experience, though that is in the small print terms on the certificate. When I first tested the waters with gift certificates, I purchased a $50 certificate through Card Cash at 8% off and sent it in to ensure it was legit. I have been using them to pay down my cruises ever since. -
How To Check Balance On RCCL AARP Gift Card
TravelinTess replied to silversneakers's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I use AARP gift certificates as well. The excess should be returned to the card used at booking. Attaching an email from sharedservicesgiftcertificateredemption@rccl.com below confirming this is how it should be handled. In my experience, you will not be contacted for 10 days-2 weeks after sending the certificate. -

Changes to Royal Gift Cards
TravelinTess replied to sunonfire's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Yes, this has been my experience. I didn't have an issue, but it did take a week or so to credit to my account. The certificates I purchased and emailed to Royal on Wed. should hit my account in 10 days according to an email received earlier today. -
Changes to Royal Gift Cards
TravelinTess replied to sunonfire's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I have used the gift certificates from AARP and Cardcash, and both worked fine and saved me several hundred dollars. I do have a deposit down on a cruise in which I used a MyVegas rewards wild card 10% off. I am curious if that counts as a casino discount, because according to the gift certificates, they cannot be combined. The fine print for both are pretty ridiculous.
