  1. How does this work with a TA that offers a discount (I assume from their commission)?? Is there a way to know that the discount was processed on NCL's side and make sure you don't run into a situation similar to OP where NCL cancels your cruise due to a remaining balance?
  2. I didn't have issues at Spice in December when we were on the Escape. It wasn't empty, but there were chairs available. Bar service wasn't too busy during the times we were there.
  3. If you hold the shares in a brokerage, they actually have no "registry of shareholders" that would have your name. It's all held in the name of the brokerage (thus why they ask for a statement/proof of ownership).
  4. You'd get 4 points per night with this promo. First point per night is the one everyone gets, 1 extra point per night for Haven/Suite, 2 extra points per night from the promo.
  5. Was this a recent change? I see the booking window in the T&Cs started 11/9. If it's been in effect for bookings since then, that's a nice surprise!
  6. We found that iMessage worked even when "logged out" on our cruise a few weeks back (connected to Wifi but not using minutes). I was surprised to see that and suspect it wasn't supposed to be working, but it did throughout our entire cruise.
  7. We received about $130 refund as OBC when they switched out Taino Bay for Amber Cove at Puerto Plata on our last cruise. That was a surprise for us, so I assumed they'd likely refund port fees for a removed port.
  8. Just got this note as well. Does anyone know how port fee adjustments work when they're made prior to final payment? I'm curious if they'll remove them prior to payment or if they'd be an OBC.
  9. That's really disappointing. I was just on the Escape a few weeks ago and got the Porterhouse with no supplement.
  10. We stayed in an O5 on the Escape (large Oceanview room). It wasn't bad with 3 younger kids. There's a curtain that separates the two sleeping areas and it worked well enough for us.
  11. Thanks, everyone. I read it as satisfying the full deposit requirement as well. That's a nice bonus of using a certificate when sailing with a group of 5-- the cash deposit would have been much higher than what I paid for the CruiseFirst certificate! Good to know about losing the bonus value of a CruiseFirst certificate if I cancel/rebook. If prices come down and I upgrade categories would that also be considered a cancel/rebook or would I retain the value of the certificate? Just curious so I know my options.
  12. @mking8288 That’s great news, thanks! If I do get the offer to bid, it assumes 2 passengers regardless of my party, correct? That was my read of the terms, but wanted to verify since we are a party of 5!
  13. We were on the 12/10 sailing and it was our first cruise and we had an absolutely amazing time. I have nothing to compare it to, but I expected it to feel more packed than it did with how busy it was. We were in a Family Oceanview (O5) and were pleasantly surprised with the amount of storage. We had our expectations for room size set very low, but left saying we'd be willing to do that size room again. One bathroom is probably the biggest issue, and as our kids grow we'll undoubtedly move to 2 rooms or a suite (they're 5, 9, and 10 now). I can't agree more on the Stateroom steward-- my wife and I were both in awe at the attention to detail and eagerness to help. The crew overall was fantastic-- huge shout out to the kids club staff who were so great with our 3 kids-- they never wanted to leave. We found the food to be pretty good! I had a NY Strip which was very overcooked (ordered Medium Rare and came out well done), but that's the only bad food experience. We had a dinner at Cagney's where we wished we could eat more. I didn't think it was possible to gain 10 pounds in a week-- I was wrong. The kids said it was the best vacation ever (topping Disney World), so now we're planning our next cruise for June!
  14. I was in Port Canaveral a few weeks ago. Drop off was pretty smooth, some traffic but not terrible. Traffic was pretty bad on the return-- it took forever to get a rideshare accepted and at least 20 minutes for them to get through the port traffic to pick us up.
  15. Really? Definitely not my experience on the Escape a few weeks back. Kids club had a morning, afternoon, and evening session any time we weren't in port. If we were in port until the afternoon, they had an evening session. If we were at sea, we had all 3 sessions. I hope nothing has changed-- I can't imagine why they wouldn't run kids club on a sea day.
  16. Do CruiseFirst certificates work as a full deposit for a room regardless of the number of passengers? I have a party of 5, so the deposit would be much more than the price of a CruiseFirst certificate. Reading the terms of the CruiseFirst certificate, it seems like it should, but I wasn't sure if the number of passengers would make a difference.
  17. We have 5 passengers with an upcoming cruise on the Joy. We're in an O5 room and reading through this thread I see that there is a 2 category max on upgrade bids. I don't believe there are any balcony or mini suite rooms that fit 5 in the Joy-- does this mean I won't have an opportunity to bid on other rooms that would fit us like an SP (Inside Family Suite) or Haven? If so, that's a little disappointing.
  18. We're going to be on the Escape in a few weeks and have been trying to figure out what the hours will be. Were they only open in the evening or were they also open during the day on sea days?
