  1. To the Alaska people here, just wondering if anyone knows this answer (just pure curiosity on my end - probably more so now because I am going for my second shot on Saturday so I'm interested in reading about cases after vaccination LOL). Asking - the Alaskan Governor has been diagnosed, and I am wondering if he had already been vaccinated back in December? He said he was going to be: December 15 "Dunleavy said he expects to get the vaccination in roughly two weeks, because he recently got a flu shot. “I’m doing that because I don’t want to necessarily
  2. Looks like Moderna is ready to test their booster: "The drugmaker Moderna is set to begin testing a new version of its Covid-19 vaccine that was specifically designed to target an emerging variant of the coronavirus that was first reported in South Africa. The company announced Wednesday that it has shipped doses of its variant-specific booster shot to the National Institutes of Health for clinical trials. This development is part of Moderna's efforts to counter strains of the coronavirus that are circulating and to get ahead of the constantly mutating virus".
  3. Dropping like flies today: "Holland America Line has cancelled a number of sailings following the Canadian Transport Ministry’s Interim Order that closed Canadian ports and waters to passenger vessels. The company announced it is is extending its pause of cruise operations to now include all sailings that depart from or conclude in a Canadian port in 2021. This will include several Alaska, three Canada/New England and two Pacific Coastal cruises in summer and fall of this year. It also includes all Land+Sea Journeys." At this time, Alaska cruises
  4. MSC Grandiosa and Mein Schiff 2 have both had cases recently. It seems both have good protocols to deal with this: https://www.lexblog.com/2021/02/17/cruise-passenger-tests-positive-for-covid-19-on-msc-grandiosa/ https://www.lexblog.com/2021/02/11/covid-19-outbreak-on-the-mein-schiff-2/
  5. I posted this on the RCI board but thought if you haven't already read it you might like to see it too 😊 Crew-center has an interesting article about crew vaccinations that includes this tidbit: "According to the Chairman of the Indonesian Seafarers' Union (KPI) Bali I Dewa Putu Susila, 6,000 crew members in Bali are waiting to board the cruise ships in April". http://crew-center.com/latest-insights-about-covid-vaccination-crew
  6. Crew-center is talking about crew vaccines: http://crew-center.com/latest-insights-about-covid-vaccination-crew I thought this part was interesting about Indonesian crew: "But not only are the cruise lines are interested to get vaccines for the crew. Seafarers organizations on a national level are lobbying governments for the cruise ship crew to be on the priority list for vaccination. Today IDN Times BALI reported that thousands of Indonesian seafarers requested to be vaccinated as soon as possible fearing that the cruise companies will divert labor needs t
  7. Under the "Travelers Returning from Cruise Ship and River Cruise Voyages" the CDC shows: "Get Tested and Stay Home After Travel" Get tested with a viral test 3-5 days after travel AND stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel. Even if you test negative, stay home and self-quarantine for the full 7 days. If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected. If you don’t get tested, stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel. Avoid being around people who are at increased risk for severe illness for
  8. Sorry that there's no real news here, but I just wanted to make sure that you saw this article 🙃 Hope you all get repaid soon, I know it has to be quite maddening! http://crew-center.com/pullmantur-denies-liquidation-company-still-owes-money-crew
  9. Wonder if Pullmantur will be mentioned at all 😉 "The fate of the Spanish cruise line Pullmantur who filed for reorganization, claiming insolvency under Spanish law, is still unclear after mixed messages in the Spanish media were reported in the past few days. On February 19, the Spanish newspaper Cinco Días, reported that Pullmantur announced liquidation of the company in one year. The newspaper stated that the bankruptcy administrator has failed to find new investors to back the plan to refloat the company. The two major stakeholders Royal Caribbean (with 49% interest
  10. Boohoo, our second dose of Moderna was delayed due to transportation problems from the bad weather in other areas of the country - we were supposed to get it last Friday, now delayed to next Saturday. No problems with the first shot at all. I signed up for the CDC "V Safe" tracking on my phone and received a text every day asking to complete a short questionnaire - "How do you feel today?" "Any symptoms or problems?", etc. and today it was "You should have received your second shot, did you get get it?". No, sad to say, not available for me yet LOL. Crossing my fingers
  11. Happened to our county in FL also - we were supposed to get our second Moderna tomorrow, but now postponed to Feb 27 😞 Also Crystal has also now said all guests must be vaccinated: "Crystal Cruises has confirmed it will now require all guests to be fully inoculated with a COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to their Crystal cruise. Guests will need to provide proof of vaccination before embarkation and must have received both doses of the vaccine if recommended by the manufacturer by that timeline, the company said". https://www.cruiseindustr
  12. I like it 😊 Makes me want to sing "I like big ships and I can not lie" (But then again, I must not have a good eye because I even like the look of the NCL Epic which is (almost) universally panned as the ugliest ship afloat, like this gem: "Carnival’s top cruise director, John Heald, wrote on his FB page "it was a beautiful day in St.Thomas … though there were puddles of vomit along the pier. Then I realized we were docked next to the Epic".)
  13. OT sorry - but right after I read your comment about shorepower I saw this article about it coming to Port Miami 🙂 "Miami Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced that Miami-Dade County signed a joint statement with six cruise companies – Carnival Cruise Lines, Disney Cruise Line, MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean International, and Virgin Voyages – and Florida Power and Light to bring shorepower to PortMiami. The letter is a first step to begin the process of implementing shorepower at PortMiami. According to a statement, the Mayor's office w
  14. I hated to see this about a Miami cruise food service supplier auctioning off all their remaining supply - it doesn't sound like they're counting on supplying a ship anytime soon (if ever again) 😔 Who would have thought you'd even miss looking over the side of a ship and seeing that long line up of trucks delivering supplies to your ship? "In a sign of the times, a leading food service supplier for Florida’s cruise mega-ports is auctioning off all of the remaining inventory in its soon-to-be-shuttered Miami distribution center. With U.S.-based cruis
  15. Yep, and that's good news - just wondering what the cruise lines will do with a positive case onboard if everyone has had both vaccines, i.e. will it make a difference in their response they currently have posted etc.? Because right now Celebrity's wording is: "If a certain threshold level of COVID-19 is detected onboard your cruise ship during your voyage, your voyage will be ended immediately and the ship will return to the port of embarkation, and your subsequent travel, including your return home, may be restricted or delayed". https://www.celebritycruises.com/trave
