  1. That looks great. If I was cooking it I would sous vide it then finish it off by searing it in an iron skillet. Once you try sous vide cooking its hard to give it up especially with meat.
  2. Sharon yesterday found another price drop on flights for the Hawaii trip. building up credit for the next trip.
  3. Thanks for the link. I found it just before I read this. I also been reading about basic Mac shortcuts like when I clicked on the link you posted I held down on the Control button and it opened in its own tab. Slowly learning. I am not sure why the trackpad is so big but the more I am learning about it I doubt I will need a mouse. I looked at the one you got and it looks nice. I got this one because of editing Photos and Videos. I am sure I would appreciate the weight of yours more. I love the battery life so far. I didn't bother to bring a charger on our trip today. After more than 3 hours of use I still have 86% battery!
  4. While in the auditing/accounting world I couldn't go without it. I remember we had number pads that plugged into laptops. Much better built into the keyboard.
  5. Thanks. I didn't even think of that yet. I remember when I first got the iPad it was a Challenge. I was wondering how learning Photoshop shortcuts will be. Not using it for the last couple years on my PC will make it not as confusing. I had the PC shortcuts down to where it was natural. Probably like your video editing.
  6. It is a good size. The only thing I miss is a calculator pad on the side. You have the option of adding a keyboard and mouse. I am going to see how it goes without them for now. If and when I start using it at a desk I might get them. Nice to be able to sit on the couch and use it. I will see if I enjoy it while in the car today.
  7. I have no idea what the old ones compared to this one. This is my 1st Apple computer. The touch pad is huge. Not sure yet why. There is an option to get a mouse. This is all new to me. So much to learn. I had to. Google how to make a new file 😆. Here's a pic to give you an idea how big the pad is. It has surprised me how heavy this thing is.
  8. I was not a fan of subscription either. I usually upgraded Photoshop every other upgrade. The plus side of subscription is no waiting for upgrades. I was considering to try to find the Adobe bundle at a student discount. Caden homeschools so not sure how that would work. Do you use Adobe to edit video? I haven't looked to deep into it but I saw the the Final Cut Pro is a onetime $300. I am hoping the Insta360 Studio makes editing the 360 videos easier. It was not available to use on the phone
  9. with a 32GB of ram and 32-core GPU reviews said it will handle 4k easy. I was going to get just 16GB ram and 512 SSD but 1 TB was cheaper due to the sale. Also test were showing that 1TB SSD helped the speed when editing. Being a former Windows guy, there is A LOT to figure out. Caden is excited to start learning Photoshop. I was concern because a couple years ago it cost $10 per month and everywhere I was looking was saying $20 per month. I finally found I can still get it for $10.
  10. Yes, an M1 chip. I was tempted to go with the M2 but there wasn't much difference and the M1 was $600 off. With the discount I couldn't justify the M2 over the M1. I will post a pic of the sticker that was on it that explains what I got. Let me know if you can read it.
  11. Posting for the 1st time from my new MacBook Pro. It came in today. So much to learn and setup. he sure was easy to sign into CC
  12. I just read this with Sharon. We are both so happy for you! I thought that was funny when you did the retake video. 😆 I bet it's such a warm feeling what you are experiencing. Looking forward to you winning the lottery and us all sailing away together!
  13. @Sunshine3601 I just saw noticed the chair hog thread again and if I remember right you noticed the signs on the chairs on y'alls cruise. Do you think it was making a difference?
  14. One of the ponds behind my house has crappie in it. It's been too long since I fished it. My DD keeps saying I need to go catch some!
  15. It is a very good mild tasting fish. Although I heard of people catching them while I lived in Ohio it was rare. Down south they are everywhere. Around here you have to catch them to eat them. They are not a commercial fish. Here's a pic
  16. I love white gravy. I like it on mash potatoes too. I guess the only time I prefer brown over white it on beef but I rarely put gravy on beef.
  17. @swdke Maybe post a screen shot of your babarcode hear and someone could do the barcode trick for you. This is totally a guess. I have never tried it.
  18. Thanks. As a child we lived in Massachusetts for a year. I remember touring the ship. It looks smaller to me now. Do they still let tourist board it? This is the time we all became lobster 🦞 lovers. Dad used to cook them at home. Good memories.
  19. I have thought about trying to bake some but haven't tried it yet. I love English muffins! As for grits, I may need to try them again. I am wondering if the first time I tried them they were instant grits. Trying anything with shrimp on them is worth a try.
  20. That's where I started. I do hot weather a lot easier than cold. Although I do really enjoy vacationing up North on occasion. We been considering visiting the New England area. We would love to visit the Mayflower, Old Ironside the Plymouth Colony etc. A couple of thinks I have learned to love in the South, Crappie, Catfish, BBQ pork with coleslaw, Brisket etc.
  21. @Sea Dog Greg, I saw this sign and had Sharon turn back so I could get a pic. I then realized that I read it wrong! 😆 But I did look around just to make sure.
