  1. Milford Sound is not a commercial port. The bio inspections have been put in place to protect environmentally sensitive areas like Fiordland National Park. New discovery of an invasive seaweed found in pristine Dusky Sound | Stuff.co.nz
  2. Bugs from a sneeze, bugs on a hull, now could this be true? More bed bug cases reported from Pacific Explorer cruise ship (1news.co.nz)
  3. These plus & premier packages are more than just alcohol, and include internet, coffee, water, calorie laden desserts, juice bar, etc. Sharing is caring, but outside the spirit of the packages. Yes, it would be disappointing to those that suited having their fare type split for the right reasons. I believe one passenger can still purchase a standalone drink package.
  4. An interesting quote out there, attributed to one of the passengers aboard. About the letter sent to passengers and the details of the FCC and OBC ... like a turd covered in golden glitter.
  5. Huh?? A policy on how they handle bookings is not linked to customer service. It is also nothing new, as it used to be that way when getting beverage packages in the days before "plus" fares. The reasoning, I would figure, is that passengers can be inclined to "share" the benefits of a package between them instead of purchasing one each.
  6. Rather than a new topic, I thought this would do. Princess prizes is no longer part of any new Premier bookings, but will be honoured if it was part of the package when you booked. If you have it as part of premier, it will be listed in your package details on the personaliser. Until recently, you could split your bookings between standard, plus & premier. Princess has now changed that option, and it is all passengers in the cabin can only book the same type of fare. If one gets plus, so must the other. They will consider it on a case-by-case basis IF one of the passengers is medically unable to consume alcohol.
  7. When I learned the meaning of Lake Minnewanka, it was reassuring to know that I work with many spirited people.
  8. To the contrary, cruise ships are going to make every effort to comply with NZ requirements. There are plenty of ports that have already lost their appetite for cruise ships. In our market, a Tahiti cruise is nothing like it used to be, and Isle of Pines + Mare have extended their cruise ship ban for another year. Sydney is pretty just about maxxed out for summer space already. NCL and HAL are restricted to sending older ships that will fit under the bridge in order to have somewhere to berth. Brisbane & Melbourne are not filling the ships they have, and that is the only reason more ships are not here this summer. Burning the cheapest bunker fuel and carrying around foreign species of flora & fauna isn't a good way of representing a global brand.
  9. If you go to the right places, their coffee is excellent. 7/11 coffee is boring in Melbourne as it is everywhere, but Lygon St has plenty of top rate cafe's. If culture is theatre, ballet, art galleries, museums - well, they can have it.
  10. The 50% FCC is for the cruise component only, and not for charges/taxes. That shrinks the FCC amount. Hopefully they will also be getting any port charges refunded for the missed ports, as they become void. The refund is noice, but they can't refund a portion of peoples limited amount of holidays. If you cruise for the ship, no probs; if you cruise for the itinerary it doesn't make-up for that. Lots of ships have been pre-empting this work, and are spending time anchored off Bundaberg. Yes, it was recently identified, but crap clings better to crap than it does to something clean.
  11. I'm fine, just priorities. Just had whooping cough jab, as it is one of those ... not coming near the new grandie without it. Next week, time for a covid top-up for a bit of extra resilience for cruises in late Dec & Feb. Then I will line-up a shingles vaxx. My wife had a fair dose a couple of years ago, and had them pretty bad around one side, back and shoulder blades. Not a freebie for me yet either, but worth the price. The recommended vaxx has changed a few years back, and offers a much higher level of protection than the earlier version.
  12. Correct, somewhere up near Whistler's Peak above Jasper, Alberta. Stunning scenery early in the season, mid-late May. Sorry to keep everyone waiting.
  13. Answered yourself. Not from Sulphur Mountain, although the aspect is familiar.
  14. The location the photo was taken, or the town in the foreground - either, or.
  15. They have US staff? I thought the support centre was based in Asia.
  16. Put it towards the Greyhound bus fare home. 😂
  17. Emery Point Lighthouse, NT - maybe that is the same as previous, but by a different name.
  18. My arm recently took a week to recover from a whooping cough booster. That was after not feeling a thing with the needle. Shingles vaxx is on my list. That is something I could well do without.
  19. Just a caveat for those overseas. The price of accommodation in Sydney has shot up significantly this past year. While the US currently has good buying power here, it won't be noticed too much. When our currency returns to "normal" levels, Sydney will look expensive.
  20. Very catchy to have as the first one listed in a Black Friday promo. 2 nights, Melbourne to Adelaide. It was on Sparky's discount table two weeks back for $179, so it is a big Black Friday $10 discount. AKA, a typical P&O sale discounting $5pp per day.
