I have always made MTD reservations. For us it’s just that early dining is too early & late is too late. Our sweet spot is 6:30-7.

Any opinions are welcome! It’s just hubby & me & we aren’t too concerned about when we eat. But it would be nice to have realistic expectations.

Do come back & give us your opinion! We have MTD on Explorer in October. Despite the negative reviews, we have not considered changing. We shall see!

If you booked directly with RC, call & ask them to make the switch. That way if early traditional dining is unavailable, you won’t lose what you have currently. If you used a TA, have them do it.

Cannot connect to WiFi for texting without a charge. The only thing you can access for free is the Royal App and the chat feature there also carries a fee.

Yup that is plan B. Actually I think I’m on plan Q right now. When my daughter said she was unable to join us, it threw a huge monkey wrench in the plans. I am trying to work out an entirely different “plan” now.

This is my current plan. Might SAS also return us to the hotel after the cruise? Based on flight fares/schedules I think we might stay one night after the cruise.

Absolutely but for a Catholic, that does not fulfill the requirement to attend weekly Mass. Not asking a cruise line to endorse or favor any religion, OP was just asking what the chances of having a priest on board to perform the service would be.

Right, a Catholic Mass is much more than fellowship. The Consecration of the bread and wine can only be performed by a Catholic priest and is central to the Mass.

Nope, you can check in anyone on your reservation or anyone linked from another reservation. On the app ONLY (not on the website) you can go directly to arrival time, secure your desired time and do the rest of the check in later.

I guess this just isn’t as big an issue for us. Somehow, some way we always manage to eat. There are no “must see” shows for us. If we miss something, it’s fine.

We are booked at Springhill Suites Dania Beach. Airport shuttle and free breakfast.

On my cruise, the MTD line was very long at 6:30 also. But that was because it opened at 6:30. Once it did, the lines diminished very quickly and, as I’ve said, we never waited more than 10 minutes after opening to be seated. IMHO, the problem is everyone who had MTD wanted their time to be 6:30.

Don’t know if it’s written anywhere. To me it’s an early bird catches he worm kind of thing 🤷‍♀️. Same deal on SWA, the earlier you check in the better boarding spot you get. Frankly I’m just so darn excited to do anything for my vacation, I’m always raring to go! But you are right, how would one know?

When we were kids, my parents loved to go out to dinner at nice restaurants. They always took my brother & I and we learned (ok it took longer with me!) how to behave there. Well they would go to a nightclub (think old Hollywood movie type) for dinner & dancing on their anniversary. We were the only children ever allowed in there. We had a special table & waiter who spoiled us rotten. My father & Nonno were the liquor permittees of an Italian mens club, we practically LIVED there! Mom used to tell us not to tell our teachers we spent the day playing bunko dice with the guys at the bar!! Some of my happiest memories. Being in a bar is not the problem.

Really? My comment was that there was a method for getting an earlier time which OP did not avail him/herself of and that they should not necessarily expect an accommodation just because the time they got is inconvenient. PCUR is right & I hope they can be accommodated but to suggest I am an unreasonable adult??? Especially given the many posts here about passengers being made to wait outside because they arrived too soon and check in times being strictly enforced? What if they get there early & have to wait in the heat outside the terminal? There’s no guarantee they can get in prior to their scheduled time.

Yup, you are right. It doesn’t help to say you should have cuz it’s too late for that. So throw yourself on the mercy of the terminal staff. Explain your situation, smile, be extra polite and hope you get someone like pcur and not an old crab like me!!🥰

And that’s why you grab an early time instead of waiting til the last minute. You know you have kids, you know a late boarding time would be a problem, do what is necessary to secure that earlier time. This should not have been a surprise to OP.

Sorry, but what if everyone did that? Earlier times were available if OP had checked in earlier.

Arrival times can be selected when you check in on line at 45 or so days out. The earlier you do it, the better times available. Did you not do on line check in til now? Enforced arrival times have been standard since the restart last year.

4900+ I believe on our sailing so more like 75%.

We had MTD on Harmony in March, reservations for 6:45 every night. Never waited more than 10 minutes and after night 2, staff just smiled & waved us in. Same table/staff each night.
